Well... 9 months after the incident I finally went up the mountain to try and look for the Crosswind Pro that went MIA up there at the beginning of the year. It was an interesting climb... and more than half of it was outside of any path... just pushing straight up through the forest, it was AWESOME! Found a deer... and almost at the top of the forest near the peak, which was surprising! Seemed quite worried about the copter though... bloody Phantom 3 Pro is too loud... guess that Mavic Mini looks that much more alluring now! :P

One of the best content creators on RUclips. Beautiful footage!
Thank you! :)
So when are you going back up the mountain to look for your plane again? 😉
hahahahahaha... am NOT! Might do some flights while testing other planes, over the location... but wouldn't put too much effort into it!
Search mission videos are best for me, since I lost my first FPV plane at my first sortie and never find it. I know that she is still out there. Only FPV enthusiast can understand that filling.
Hahahahaha... well... depends who has been around the crash site... might not be there! The mountain is a popular tourist place, so who knows who found it! :P
@@ArxangelRC The mistery persist, and become a legend. 🤔
Haha... it is possible! :P
That’s the nature of this beautiful hobby, but we still love it...
Indeed!
Hi Nikola. Keep trying, it might surface one day.
Do you remember me commenting about my lost plane?
I'VE GOT IT BACK!!! 6 months in the wilderness!
Thanks to a hiker who went off course, and some facebook threads, and a friend that saw the facebook threads, I was able to obtain the GPS coordinates and go retrieve it. Go my GoPro back and the footage!
Absolutely amazing story. I'm yet to put it together in video format.
Keep up the great work!
Awesome! Well.... we will see... but people around here are weird... so don't think I will see it again! :)
Sorry for your loss.
No worries mate! :)
Forget the wolves... what about the mountain-lions, snakes, bears and hikers???? (*LOL*)
Oh... hikers are the worst! :P
You could probably post the many hours of HD video of the aerial search, and propose that we help you look, just split it into 30 minutes chunks and have anybody that's worked on one segment like a comment, so others can see which segments need more attention. We're thousands of eyes and most would jump at the opportunity
TheSaint135 you could even use the Ariel mapping of the crosswi... oh wait. Sorry dumb joke and too soon 😪
Hahahahahaahhahaha... yeah... try to make it find itself! Don't worry mate... I've been over it the moment it took off for that flight... just like with every other plane and every other flight! :) I have gone through the footage and the plane just isn't there, no point it making you guys waste time dealing with this. It is not that big of a deal! :)
I fly in a very hilly area. That's one of the main reasons I use Arduplane on all of my aircraft. You just need to enable terrain following mode for RTL and it would automatically climb over the hills.
Yeah... got into that only AFTER the incident!
Lost the plane but that beautiful view is worthy... Love from Indonesia...
Yes, it was! :)
What a beautiful country!
What is the Country?

shame you didnt find it, but did you find out what the white dot is in center screen @ 5:56 :D
I was wondering the same thing
It is a rock! :)
@@ArxangelRC Serious anticlimax 🤣
Yeah... sadly it is!
@@ArxangelRC bummer.. i was holding out hope :P
I track my planes or drones with RSSI. Else, you could install a tracker system, that makes it much easier to find lost aircraft. I lost a drone in a flyaway (twice) about a 1/2 mile away and was able to recover them both with RSSI.
Yeah, usually that works, however in this case the search for the plane was 9 months later... soooooo... no RSSI would help! Hahahahahahaha...
The video we have all been waiting for!
Hahahaha, yeah... you can sleep well now! :)
Yes, spectacular is a good word for it!
:P
I once hired a small plane to fly low over a forested area where I lost an expensive model and it was amazing how easy it was to spot it when looking down.
Well... it was during the winter... and the plane is not that expensive to warrant hiring a piloted plane to do that! But I am glad you found it!
Maybe a tracker used in falconry could be fitted to the planes. They can transmit a locating signal for over a month.
Hmmm... interesting idea! Will have to look into those!
Bears? Great search footage and beautiful country.
Could be bears too! :) Thanks!
This was a very nice video indeed although the search was inproductive. I had big hope!
Well... we had a nice walk in the woods! I was glad!
you still have the Crosswind mini ... which I will have too in a few days (thx to your review) and the AAT mini
Awesome! Indeed I do! And they are great! :)
Cool video. At 6:02 there is a bright white dot way in front of the DJI, center of screen on the top (first horizontal quarter of screen) on the ground. Makes me wonder!
Well in that frame alone there are a more white dots... lots of rocks in that area... I watched the whole video material back then... wasn't the plane sadly! But thanks for the effort nonetheless! :)
Oh man, I'm so sorry you couldn't find it after all that effort 😥 This happened to me once and it took a year and two overflights in a friend's Cessna before I finally spotted it. At least you came away with a great video 😀👍 Question: I'm wondering if the installation of LiDAR would have helped your plane make it over the peak of that mountain
Actually a LIDAR was no necessary... if it had the terrain data in it beforehand... which it didn't... but I have been loading that since... so theoretically... something like this shouldn't happen again!
A locator beacon could be easily added to these RC plane's. A drone with a receiver and rhe right software could recover...
Yup!
Sorry mate, we would all have been very happy if the video had finished differently 😫
Flying in a snowy area, suggestion? Put stickers or paint that stands out over the white.
In a search process, in case the drone allows it, make a grid to make an orthophoto. Then quietly at home you can zoom and search visually calmly and be able to locate the exact spot where the plane is (if it is in that area).
Bad luck, at least it's been tried. Cheer up 🙂
Well.... a GPS tracker would be a better solution... would give you the coordinates!
Unfortunately that was not the case. And being the case that you don't have a GPS Tracker, which I think for long flights like the ones you do, is the best solution, an orthophoto when you don't see the aircraft with the naked eye, allows you to zoom and see it quietly on the laptop inside the car. This being said that you don't want to do it at home and have to go back to the area.
But as you say, a GPS Tracker is the best solution, but you know, I include myself, these things only remember when it's late. That's how we learn, based on mistakes 🙄😥
Yup... absolutely!
Great to here from you............
Thanks!
Need to set rally points in Arduplane next time, so the aircraft will go to them, instead of the home position.
there are also many other settings in arduplane for failsafe instead of just loss of control. there are a series of behaviors also for loss of Mavlink telemetry, with thier own behaviors that need to be reviewed before attempting such a flight. Also a possibilty that it overspeeded and broke up in the air trying to descend to a lower altitude, if the TECS tuning was not setup properly. Hope you can move on. I'ts hard, but worth some time studying arduplane failsafe to make sure it does not happen again. also develping tests within LOS for behavior to fully understand how it behaves,a nd catch any mistakes in setup. There are thousands of params, so it's easy to make a mistake.
Actually it wasn't a "made" mistake! I was over it the moment I realised it will not be coming back! Overspeeding is not the problem since it was 14kms away... and only had to come down like 1.6km, so it wouldn't have been a steep descent! Also, I am not using telemetry... so that wasn't an issue either! TECS, etc., was all good since it had done tons of flights before that, including auto missions, so all was good! It was just a lapse of judgement on my part to setup those rally points, or just a higher RTH altitude than the mountain... lesson learned! :)
Better luck next time!
Well... would try not to lose one next time! :)
Always enjoyable!!!!
Thanks!
Great video, lovely up there, shame you did not find the plane though
Yeah... well... it is life!
I know, it will not help you to finde your plane but for your next LRM you may can add a tiny GPS-GSM Tracker?
Weeeeeell... I would rather invest in something more robust that has been proven to work... would cost around $150, but has one of those international SIM cards in it... so could be tracker everywhere!
is there a alternativ to the AKK Omnibus F4 Pro. because they are sold out at banggood, aliexpress...
Well there are plenty of other boards... if you need this for a plane... look at the Matek F405 Wing... an awesome controller for planes!
Lost one a couple hours ago my friend and I are going out searching tommorow
Sorry to hear that! Did you find it?
@@ArxangelRC nah it's gone
@@ArxangelRC well nevermind some lady on facebook found it and I picked it up today it was super close to a lake so glad it didn't land there
Oh, nice, so you got it back? Was it close to where you were searching for it?
About time!!! Mot sure how many times I had to mention it. Lol
Havent watched the entire video, but really hoping all is ok and the plane is salvageable
Gahhhh!!! Didn't find it. It will probably turn up some day
We will see... but I don't think it will... people around here are just like that! :P
Hey dude, would you recommend the crosswind or mini crosswind ?
Got told one advantage being the 9 pin wing connectors on the mini.
Both planes are pretty good, but depends on what the plan for use is... choosing one over the other merely on connectors used for the wings is... weird!
@@ArxangelRC I did think that, I I have always made my own connectors up for wing attachment.
I’m looking for stable, long flight time, potentially a high altitude cruiser.
@@lordgeorgemaster Well... in that case the big Corsswind is the way to go www.myflydream.com/products/d-0/334.html
Hi, just watched your video on the Skyzone HD02 Monitor, is it possible to turn off the ODS from the Monitor?? No matter what settings I go through, cant turn it off. how did you do it, if possible???
Have not really looked into that, but it might be useful to do so... if possible... since it does sometime get over the flight OSD stuff!
Was considering a build wth Ardupilot but if it does not have the ability to climb to a set value before RTH then I'll stick with iNav.
It does. And much more.
@@jonbrotherton1237 It's a pity ArxangelRC missed it in the set up, as it oculd have saved the model.
Well... I didn't miss it... just didn't think about it before the flight! :D
Hey why pointing at INAV? ;)
INAV has some more RTH options than Ardupilot. Like "Extra" that will cause a climb before RTH or the "MAX" type that will climb to the highest altitude you had during your flight. You just fly one time higher than the mountain and this will be your RTH altitude. Both could have saved your plane ;)
Ardupilot has that and SmartRTL that returns on a known safe path.
@@jonbrotherton1237 no it has not for planes regarding the wiki.
@@MarcFPV ah, for Plane it has rally points and terrain following.
@@jonbrotherton1237 yes that's true. But this always need extensive preparation and rally points don't account for obstacles either. For mountain cruising the MAX ALT RTH option of inav is ideal as you can just set the altitude during flight.
@@MarcFPV terrain following works well.
I saw something white at 4.10 at left side
I have been through the whole footage... it is pretty much rocks and trees up there, and no sign of a plane sadly! :(

add a GPS tracker or get the GPS data on your SD card in your radio to locate your plane

I feel you pain, have a DJI FPV equipped quad stuck in a tree 45 meters up, black quad + evergreen tree = wait for a big storm is my only hope for recovery.
No chance of climbing it? Or... you know... "accidentally" knocking the tree down... hahahahaha
ArxangelRC nope I'm not a climber, it's a fern so there are no low branches to hook onto, maybe I'd try if I were 30 years younger. I got told I'd be kicked out the club if I cut the tree down (since I do know a tree surgeon with all the kit that was willing to give it a go lol).
ArxangelRC I don't mind waiting, my ARWing spend 3 months in a similar tree this time last year before it came down, it still flies today just fine too, nothing needed replacing other than the lipo.
Damn... well I hope the same will happen with this model! Any storms in the forecast?

Warriers should had got pain.
