    Hi!! Your videos are awesome! So appreciate all the info you give! I just have two quick questions: 1) Is a suitcase the typical item we should use when packing for OCS? I just can’t imagine how I’m going to fit everything into a duffle! 2) I haven’t seen literally anywhere (checklists) mention that we need to bring undershirts but I noticed you mentioned it in one of your videos. Do I need to bring them?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад +1

      Hi! Happy to help :)
      1) You can bring whatever bag you'd like for your lucky bag--a duffel, a suitcase, whatever you want.
      2) They will issue you white and coyote brown undershirts, but only 3 of each. For RLP and just for everyday use, it's good to have an additional 3 at least. You need to have 3 folded and in perfect condition for RLP, and it's hard to do that when you're sweating in them all day. Plus, having extras means fewer laundry trips, which is good.

    • @makaelawade1362
      @makaelawade1362 3 года назад

      Wow! Thanks so much! Do you have any recommendations on where to purchase the undershirts? I looked online and just don’t want to buy the wrong color brown! Also, do they have to be women’s style?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад

      @@makaelawade1362 no problem! You'll want to get coyote brown shirts, and they're unisex shirts. They're made by Soffee and Hanes, but if you can't find any or you have doubts, you'll have plenty of opportunities to buy some from the NEX in Newport before RLP.

    • @makaelawade1362
      @makaelawade1362 3 года назад

      Finally packing and just running into more questions and you feel like the best resource!! When I’m packing my little things like hair ties, barrettes, bobby pins etc., can I pack them in normal toiletries bags freely? Or is it just a waste of time? Or should I do something like ziploc bags and gallon freezer bags?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад

      @@makaelawade1362 that's totally up to you. I went with like 4 hair ties and some bobby pins. Didn't even have barrets, hair bun or sock 😕 but I was able to pick up all of that at the NEX after first Friday. If you want to save a little money and pack those to bring with you, I'd recommend throwing them in their own baggie, but if they fit in a toiletries bag, that's fine too.

    You said be ware of other classes study guides, but do you know if there's any books I should read before going to help with the classes?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад

      For JOC phase, there's not really a whole lot you can do. They will issue you some books temporarily for some of the classes (particularly SOC phase) but I don't really anyone who ACTUALLY cracked them open. You will have access to all of the powerpoints on the computer in your hatch, so even if you can't take notes fast enough in class, you can do some great studying in between classes/drill (they have mandatory study hours each day, and your weekends are basically free), as well as in the evenings.
      All of the questions are based off of the learning objectives, and right before an exam, the lecturer WILL do an AMAZING (hint hint) mandatory review of what to "focus" on. As long as you write down everything they say in those reviews, you'll likely pass just fine.

    Thanks so much for your videos! The whole ROM vs actual OCS is confusing and even after almost a year of implementing it clear instructions haven't been given to us. Are we allowed to bring a Kindle for our ROM and just store it in the Lucky Bag for OCS? Do you recommend we bring one bag for ROM and another for OCS?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад +1

      When you're on ROM, you're not technically in the training environment, so you can still use your phone and pretty much whatever you'd like (except you can't drink or use drugs) to keep yourself entertained. Anything that isn't authorized while in the training environment will have to just go into your lucky bag once training starts. I would just bring one really big bag.

      @@Mollyloveblue thanks will do! I appreciate you getting back to me! The only item, or should I say items that are unclear to bring to OCS for me are the medical and dental records. My recruiter said that my file should be sent to OCS so I shouldn't have to being anything, but I don't remember having dental records for MEPS. In contrast, I have those that went through OCS telling me to bring my immunization record. I emailed the contact on the OCS website but no response. What was your experience with this?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад

      @@shelby7174 if you can get your hands on hard copies of all of your records before you go, it'll be much easier on you than trying to call doctors and dentists while you're in training. Additionally, if you don't bring your shot record with you and they don't have it on file, you'll have to redo each of the navy's required vaccines. So you can cross your fingers and hope they have them, but if you want to err on the side of caution, it's better to just bring them yourself if you can.

For THIS phase, we didn't have a single failure for any exam (SOC phase is a different story though). Molly, Aloha. Your videos are awesome. I am just wondering how many people to a room and are bathrooms in each room, or are they in the hallways? Also, how soon after arrival are you allowed to go to the exchange to purchase things you might need during the 13 weeks?

    • @Mollyloveblue
      @Mollyloveblue  3 года назад +1

      HI! Thanks, glad people are getting some good stuffs out of them. The room situation is as follows: there are two rooms connected by a communal shower area. There are two showers in the communal shower area. In each of the two rooms, there are (up to) 2 people. So 4 people total in a suite.
      [Room A] = [shower1 shower2] = [Room B]
      Each room has one toilet. So you're sharing a toilet with one person, and sharing a communal shower space with 3 people. But the actual shower itself, you're only sharing with one person. Hopefully that makes sense!
