  • The West Brook Conservation Initiative is an unprecedented collaborative effort between the FUND for Lake George, the Lake George Assocation, the Lake George Land Conservancy, and the Town and Village of Lake George and Warren County. This is an historic environmental-municipal collaboration in the Adirondack Park.
The West Brook Conservation Initiative starts wit hteh purchase of the 12-acre Gaslight Village site an the 1,400-acre Berry Pond tract. The goal is to protect the water quality of Lake George by protecting the headwaters of West Brook and restoring the wetlands near the lakeshore.
Under a joint plan the Gaslight Village will be transformed from a dilapidated area into an environmental park. The Berry Pond tract will protect a high elevation wetland, a 1,400 acre forest, create new opportunities for public recreation, and allow for natural filtration of water. The Gaslight Village area will become a new municipal park and festival space with the majority of the site being dedicated to stormwater control and treatment as wel las remediation of part of West Brook.
