In Speech class in my freshman year in college in 1989, a classmate gave a persuasive speech on The Wave. It changed my life forever. I ALWAYS wave. And if someone doesn't wave when I let them in traffic, it makes me wonder how they were even raised.

True story- I listened to this last night. Today I got in backed up traffic from a stalled semi. Someone let me in and I thought about this podcast and gave them a good wave. 😆
First off… love the shirt! Second, I drive a Mini Cooper and there are rules for a MC owner to follow when driving your Mini. Rule #1 : when you see another Mini in a parking lot, you must park by it and take a picture. Rule # 2 : when you see a fellow Mini driver on the road, you must wave 👋🏼 in some form or fashion. If you don’t wave… sell your Mini and buy a Fiat!!
Another angle for the photojournalist -- beyond he's at work, just doing his job or even just trying to make a living is, photos have changed the world... think of the dog attacking the kid in the civil rights protest ( I understand there is a lot more to that story than it appears to be) if the photographer would instead put down his camera and some how try to block the dog from getting the kid vs taking the photo everything changes. As heart breaking as the photo is of the vulture over the kid, it's a powerful message that words along wouldn't be able to convey.

I came to the realization, years ago, that deep down men and women will NEVER understand each other and really loathe each other. Especially men toward women. It is just the way things are on this wretched planet. Ugh!
I need to preface this comment with I am vertically challenged so I do not assume that a driver sees me when I am crossing. That said, in regards to the obligatory "thank you" and wave when someone let's me cross - I have also done the opposite for people that have started to roll or not fully stopped for me when I am in the cross-walk (made direct eye contact with the driver and mouthed "Are you going to stop?!" and have actually smacked the hood of someone's lifted truck because it was THAT close to me as I was crossing - this was after I had already done "the wave" 😒).
Btw John, bottle nosed dolphins are not Orca. Both are dolphins but are very different. Large highly intelligent, highly family oriented predatory ocean mammals do not enjoy swimming endless circles in a barren pool where they break their teeth chewing on metal gates & eat the same frozen fish daily. Oh & have to have sunscreen.. a freaking whale has to be slathered in sunscreen. What? They don’t attack trainers because they’re having fun. They go mental. Wouldn’t you? Their babies are taken from them & transported to other parks or sold. In the wild male southern resident orca stay w/their moms their entire lives. Different orca communicate in different languages. Transient orca travel different, hunt different & communicate different but they throw all these whales from different regions together in tiny pools & wonder why they get aggressive w/each other & trainers. You know how you find out if the documentary is real? Learn about the thing. Also consider what both sides have to gain or lose. If a company is going to loss a ton of money you really think they’re gonna be transparent about their unethical shenanigans?
And I very much miss those long days and late nights as a pledge. People give hazing a bad rap, but I can say from first hand experience, it’s much more beneficial than detrimental.
