For the record, the Lakers and Kings were bounced in the 2nd rd., the two mentioned Texas teams advanced to the WC Finals, and San Antonio went on to beat the Nets in the NBA Finals.
Funny how the mavs probably would of won the title if dirk was healthy...not sure why woody got muted by max as if he was talking about the suns rockets t wolves or blazers that year aka non contenders...the mavs had the talent
It's really interesting hearing what the pundits had to say in 2003 about Boston, knowing what we know now about how they tried to dip their toes into the Moneyball pool by poaching Billy Beane. Seems like they tried to experiment with those kinds of cost-saving metrics, as well, and in the end, they went and got their Chad Bradford in Kim Byung-hyun.
Michael Holley was just a hair too early with the Pistons pick, but they were right on the cusp in 03 (didn't they make a huge 0-3 comeback in one series?) and getting Rasheed just put them in perfect position - MAN I miss that era, highly competitive in retrospect
Whatever happened to Jay Mariotti? He was a very good sports writer for the Chicago Sun Times at one time. And the same thing with Michael Holley. Will always remember him for those dreadlocks and that bright smile with his braces showing on every smile. Whatever happened to him as well.
Mariotti got involved in a DV incident and was fired by both ESPN and the Sun-Times as a result. Don't know what he is doing now. Holley is co-hosting a show with fellow ESPN expedite Michael Smith on Peacock+ called Brother From Another. Link here: ruclips.net/video/LLiTfIYvR_o/видео.html

This is awesome that you are got an old ATH episode. That show rocks. You wouldn't happen to have the one in 2009 the day after the Patriots-Colts game. That one has a classic moment between Woody and Jay Mariotti where Woody tries to make a point and Mariotti interrupts. To which Woody says, "Over the years. WOULD YOU SHUT UP!!!" And then Mariotti gets muted by current host Tony Reali. 😆😆😆😆😆😆

Dallas won 60 games, yet they were laughing when mentioned as a team that has a chance to win the West. I can only think of the 60-win-Hawks and had the 1-seed as another team that no one believed had a chance to make the Finals (they made the East Finals, but lost to Lebron and the Cavs) I do agree that Sacramento was the team that was gonna win the West, but the C-Webb injury changed everything And who knows how the Lakers would have done in the playoffs if Robert Horry wasnt so horrendous from 3 that postseason.
"Not that it matters- why are we talking about the East?" This was back when the West was viewed as invincible even though it was basically a 2-team conference.
Wow this makes me feel so old
Before he was on First Take, Max was on ATH. Classic 2003 stuff.
the best era of ath
Also i,max
Max “mute button maniac” Kellerman
Thank you so much for posting this! I absolutely LOVE old-school ATH and PTI!
Yup,, around the horn is unwatchable these days
@@The20_er tell me about it. The panelists look grumpy and dehydrated because of everything that has happened this past year.

Thanks Dan & Marcellus

3-1 against the overrated Doc Rivers and the Orlando Magic
ahhhhh, yes. Back when ATH was a great show.
Sad about what happened to Mariotti... 😶
Lebron James and Terrell Suggs amateurs, Kings best team in West. Detroit in the East. bro what a throwback.
Jay Mariotti before that DV incident that screwed up his career.....

The blatant disrespect for Woody Paige 😂😂😂 All those mutes

Max keeps muting Woody for talking up Dallas instead of Sac - and Dallas beat Sac in the second round
