Holy moly this is ACTUALLY REALLY USEFUL other people were all saying "just make an mp3 of all your MP3's" thats dumb. This is much better and what I actually wanted
I’m on a Mac-no NDI in mac’s VLC version so I had to use a workaround called IINA. A great QuickTime replacement. I have to use OBS Window Capture-BUT I can easily add videos right into IINA’s playlist dock on the fly. Handy when your not playing videos one after another or swapping vids on the fly-or you can also just compile a playlist and set IINA to play it through. The audio I send through Audio Hijack to BlackHole2ch and then add that as an Audio Capture Input to have control over the OBS levels at my LoupeDeck. Video playback controls Play/pause/next/previous are at A Streamdeck, where I also have MultiAction keys on the Streamdeck to automatically fade main audio/raise video audio/take the video source. Somewhat complicated to set up, but simple to execute once set.
Hi Mathi, the media source and VLC source in OBS don't have the best playback controls. One of the benefits is to be able to use the VLC interface. Another benefit is you can wirelessly control the vlc playlist from another laptop, through NDI. Hope that helps!
Hi Jeff, double check that you have the latest version of OBS installed. The version in the video is 27.1.3, so either that or higher should suffice. For VLC to show up as a source you'll need to make sure the same bit version of OBS and VLC are installed - So if OBS is 64bit, VLC should also be 64bit. For NDI to appear as a source, you'll need to install the NDI-OBS plugin along with NDI Tools. You'll need to restart the applications after the installation as well. Hope that helps!
Excellent, thank you! This will work great for our church live stream countdown. Glad you mentioned the bit version. The VLC that I already had installed must not have been 64-bit, because the VLC source was not showing in OBS. I installed the 64-bit version and now all is good. I suppose it doesn't hurt to have both 64- and 32-bit VLC installed?
There could be a few reasons for it to not record audio - Settings>Output>Recording - Enable the appropriate tracks - Settings>Audio>Global Audio Devices - You may need to enable desktop audio or a select a mic/aux - Settings>Output>Audio - If you're recording 720 or less try 128kbps. For 1080 try 256 Hope that helps!
quick question. do you happen to know how to get the shuffle playlist option to work? The order the music plays on obs is always the same for me whether I have it checked or unchecked

That tip about matching 64-bit versions solved my problem. Thank you!
Omg tysm! Idk how people play the music in the background without any ads. But now I do! Tysm again! :D
Happy to help!

You're very welcome, happy to help!

My version of OBS Studios don't have these options.

how to reorder playlist without restart video from beginning?
Thank you so much.

Doesn't hurt to have both, but better to have just the 64 bit version
vlc media source not showing only media source
Double check that the bit version of VLC player and OBS are 64bit. If they're different VLC wouldn't show up on OBS.
I was able to get my videos to play and I see there is sound coming but I can't actually hear it in any recordings

How to add Potplayer as a source? Is it possible? Thank you for the video and your time!
There doesn't appear to be a way to add potplayer as a source. The only way I can think is to do a screen capture and enable desktop audio.

Load the playlist in the VLC source then close and reopen OBS. Not sure if it'll work with a directory, but it works for individual files
