If you think that’s heavy, try carrying an ad15 in your shorts while running down the stairs after the postal carrier (she refused to leave a package without a signature. She left everything else, but never rang the bell for the knife delivery). I still have an ice pack on my twig and berries!
That’s too big and heavy for my EDC . With keys , phone and airpods I don’t want my pants falling down . 😂 I don’t need an 8 inch knife in my pocket when I’m heading out to dinner or to watch a game . Each to their own I guess . There are a lot of pieces where it’s illegal to carry a blade over 3 inches as well . Anyway , thanks for stopping by bud . 👌🏼✌🏼
@@OGtalks lucky for all of us they make like a million different knives to choose from!!! I work outdoors and carry nothing other than a knife in my front right pocket so a bigger blade is no issue and I like the cut from a bigger knife. But sometimes smaller is just right, love my Kabar Dozier in D2!
How is that Kabar Dozier ? Been looking at those for a while . How’s the build quality . It’s a good budget knife that’s for sure . I really like the look of em as well ..
@@OGtalks well....the flip action is pretty stiff, the handle is glass reinforced I believe, so it is not high end for sure however as a lock back and a blade that I can get very sharp I find it very “trustworthy” and when I want a small, light knife that I’m not afraid to beat on it’s one of my top choices. There is just something about it that I like maybe it is the utility factor?
I think I’m going to pull the trigger on one down the line . I have to behave for a minute , been spending way too much money on knives lately . 😂 I see one of those in my future thou ; I definitely want to talk more about budget knives that are affordable and attainable for everyone . Thanks for sharing mate , it’s appreciated . 👌🏼👌🏼✌🏼
I have this knife on preorder & I'm looking forward to trying it. The extra 0.4 oz that it weighs over the original Elementum is zero problem for me. That's such a negligible increase that I doubt I'll really notice it at all. When I began seriously getting into knives about a year ago, light weight was one of the most important factors for me when buying a knife. But since then I've carried knives from 1.8 oz up to 5.5 oz & I do fine with most of them. I generally prefer my knives to be less than 4 oz if possible, but I'm willing to overlook additional weight if there are other overriding aspects I like enough to carry a knife. I like that the size is increased on the new BLE because I have large hands, & I'll welcome additional blade length if it's within reason, which this totally is for me. It's only adding about 0.5 in of handle & 0.5 in of blade (roughly, from what I can infer from photos). I happen to really love button locks, so this knife definitely gets my engine roaring. But if weight over 3oz turns you off & they're not a fidgeter, I can see this being a no go for that kind of person. But if the only concern you have is the additional 0.4 oz, I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not at least handling one to see whether you like it. Especially if you're like me, fidgeting all the live long day, haha. Obviously I haven't actually handled the knife yet since it's still in the mail, but I'm confident that I'll really love the knife given that I love the original & I love button locks. Anyway this has gotten long-winded so I'll wrap it up. I hope this can help someone make a decision about this knife. Have great day, everyone! 😃
All good mate . I appreciate the awesome comment .. I most definitely can’t wait to handle one as one of the boys pre-ordered one and I can hopefully do an in hand review . You’re right on the length . The BLE is 8in and the normal is 6.99 . One of the other subscribers wrote a comment about Forums talking about how Civivi is going to release one that’s the same size as the normal elementum ? I hope that’s true ! In the video I failed to mention that I loved the invisable lanyard loop hidden at the back of the handle . Hated the clip holes for the clip on the lift side of the handle (I guess lefties are people too 😂) also ; why didn’t they just make the letter C the button ??? I’ll talk about those in my review hopefully . Thank you for stopping by mate !! I hope you love you BLE ! It’s just down to personal preference at the end of the day , I know you’ll love it ! All the best bud and thank you for stopping by ! 🙏🏼👍🏼
Bought a $570 knife the other day. Got the button lock Elementum. It blows the mor expensive knife away. Action is flawless and just plain fun. Very well executed. Length and weight are simply non factors. The OGtalks is a big guy. If this knife weighs him down then he has some serious muscular issues. If you want an inexpensive every day carry with a very sharp blade which is easy to maintain, the button lock elementum is for you.
Haha . Best comment ever . Pinned ! Yes mate , I am a big guy but I hate big knives . Police in my city will bash you if they find a big tactical knife in your pocket . I live in the actual city so that doesn’t help . Knife wise , I just keep going back to my mini bug, mini Griptilian and my spyderco ladybug and manbugs . Just bought my 1st ZT, which is less than 2oz (54g) . They all do the same job so don’t need something bothering me all day but at the same time I hate being knifeless . Anyway , enjoy your knife mate . Thank you for commenting ! It’s appreciated ! 🙏🏼
Weight and length isn’t an issue for me. Button lock is a big hit for me because it keeps you fingers out of the way of the blade. I carry a Elementum like the one in your video flipper tab deploys really good cuts great but liner lock is a bit stiff and blade has caught my thumb nail a couple times. I work in a warehouse and recently bought the Milwaukee fastback six in one. Blade deploys the same way as the buttock Elementum but the string cutter notch snags on the shrink wrap, blade isn’t long enough and it’s tip down carry only, I like to carrying tip up. I love deploying it, so with the button lock Elementum coming soon I can wait. It will be perfect.
That’s so awesome mate . I’m really glad that this is a knife for you . I’m also glad that you’ll be getting a lot of use out of it . If you remember , I’d really to hear how you go when you get it . I’d love to hear about your real world use . Thank you stopping by and dropping a comment . It’s really appreciated mate ! Thank you 🙏🏼
I think they may have increased the size to bring in folks like me. I find the regular Elementum to simply be a little small for comfortable use in extended cutting tasks. It's fine for opening packages and lots of other day-to-day activities, but for cutting cordage or rubber matting the handle is small enough that I have to concentrate more on gripping the knife than making the cut. Heavy knives don't generally bother me at all, unless I'm wearing athletic shorts or pajama pants, and even then I don't really notice anything under 4oz. I find the slight increase in weight to be more than worth it for what, for me, translates to better control of the cutting implement.
I guess by bringing some people in , they’ll definitely lose others .. I think there’s a reason the elementum is such a popular knife , it’s perfect in so many ways and so many people live it , which is why I don’t understand this decision ? Hopefully they do a smeller version of the button lock ; I’d definitely be in .. that way we could both be happy . 😂✌🏼
It’s not so much the fidget factor . The button lock looks like a lot of fun . It’s the weight for everyday carry . That coldsteel scout is a pretty sweet knife thou ! Thanks for stopping by mate ! 🙏🏼
I did pre-order just received mine today and have been carrying it and I do agree it’s slightly larger than expected but it does carry very well the weed does not bother me it’s really not a whole lot different than carrying Benchmade 940 for me The button lock very fidgety friendly but it is a slim knife for its size so far I really love it I do however hope they make a small version but by no means do I think it is too large to enjoy use and Carrie and fidget with thanks for the video
Thanks for stopping by mate . It’s all subjective isn’t it . For some it’s too big , others it’s just right and some other people wish it was bigger . 😂 I guess it all just comes down to personal preference which cool with me . I really love the normal elementum , one of my favourite knives in my collection , I guess it’s hard to compete with . Enjoy your knife mate ! If it works for you , that’s all that matters . ✊🏼🙏🏼👌🏼✌🏼
I've got the button elementum in hand, and I've had it a couple of days. I got a CJRB feldspar button at the same time. I actually like the fidget ability of the feldspar better. The button on the civivi Is noticeably harder to depress, lowering the fun of fidgeting. I actually found your channel while looking for info on reducing the button spring tension on the elementum! anyhow, liked and subscribed!
Thank you so much for stopping by and subbing . The Civivi just didn’t sit well with me but that’s ok . We’re all into different things and like different styles . Haven’t seen CJRB but I’ll definitely check it out . Just watching the blade show videos on RUclips . So many nice blades dropping . Hard to keep up . 😂 Anyway , thanks again mate 🔥
The weight isn't that noticeable. And I've been thinking how much I'd like an Elementum XL for months now. This isn't that much different though. And the fidget factor is real. Although I think mine is defective. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to fully lock when closed. Mine only partially locks and it's like a strong detent but you can pull the blade open pretty easily. So when fidgeting if you close it too quick even if you have your finger off the button the blade bounces out. I'm gonna send an email to BladeHQ and see if it's just my knife or if that's how it's supposed to be.
No sh#t ! There’s no way it’s supposed to be like that . I wonder if they all do that ?? If they do that’s a major flaw ! Let me know what happens I’d really like to know .. thanks for the comment , it’s appreciated ..
The difference in weight isn’t that drastic when you consider the difference in size between the original Elementum and the button lock version. It carries well, and I do appreciate the extra blade length. Fidget factor? Yeah, it’s got loads of that, but it’s a really great pocket knife, especially for those who wanted a slightly larger Elementum. My nitpicks: it would have been nice had Civivi made this one with a flipper or at the very least a thumbstud like they have with the Cogent and Altus. But, all it takes is a slight swing of the wrist to open it once you press on the lock. No different from swinging an Axis lock knife like most Benchmades. You get used to it rather quickly. My other nitpick: the pocket clip. I like that it’s a deep carry clip, but the lip of the pocket clip sticks out, unlike the clip on the original Elementum which has a forward bend on the lip that doesn’t dig into you palm. Not a big deal, but I wish Civivi would switch back to their original deep carry clips. Bottom line, I love the original Elementum, and I love the button lock Elementum so much that I got two (standard 14c28n/dark green micarta, and the Damascus/shredded carbon fibre version.
Hey mate . Thanks for the great comment . As you can see the comments have been less than favourable in this post . It really is about personal preference . I’ve been handling a lot of knives since I started this channel . Not just mine but friends knives as well . After a while you really start see what’s good and what isn’t . The BLE just wasn’t for me but I’m glad it works for you . Once again , thanks for stopping by . It’s appreciated . 💪🏼
Yes you are tripping, LOL. That is not a big knife. I wear XXL gloves at work and prefer larger handles. I also do a lot of hunting and it's lighter than the famous Buck 110's I grew up using. I also love to use my pocket knives for quick food prep and like the larger blade. I am glad they came out with the larger version. In Texas half of us out there carry our EDC knife in a sheath on our belts, not in our pockets. Happy New Year!
Happy new year mate . Thanks for stopping by . I have grown to like bigger knives since this post . The bigger issue I’m having with D2 is how blunt it gets . I’m constantly sharpening my D2 blades . Anyway , wish we had relaxed knife kaws Ike you guys . I’d have all pro-techs in my Collection if I could . Legend ! ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Haha sorry bro but I think you are tripping that is not heavy some of mine are 6oz . Mine just arrived the button is really enjoyable I think alot of people myself included found the first elementum to small hence they made it bigger. The lock is like a paramilitary 2 it keeps the fingers clear and swings closed . My kizer sheepdog xl is 9.15oz now that is a weigh ya pants down weight.
Nah , I don’t think I’m tripping at all . I live in the heart of Melbourne , the concrete jungle . I don’t need something that’s 100 grams in my pocket . Unfortunately when I bought the mini bugout everything changed for me , I started noticing a few of my other knives were really just getting in the way and weighing me down and I’m 6foot4 , $150kg . I hate having crap in my pockets that I don’t need to be carrying around but a small knife like , a mini grip , mini Osbourne or mini bug are really perfect . I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Lots of people online saying this BLE is too big , that’s why apparently Civivi is doing a smaller version . Anyway mate , thank you for stopping by and thank you for commenting . It’s appreciated . 🙏🏼✌🏼
@@OGtalksThank you for for your thought provoking video. My slight OCD self is trying to gain a better understanding of your weight and size frame of reference. A Mini Grip is 2.6 oz, Mini Osborne is 2.19 oz and the manbug FRN is 0.70 oz/LW is 0.65 oz. Have you or would you carry the Para 3 LW at 2.4 oz, Hogue Deka at 2.5 oz, or Al Mar Ultralight Falcon K4114 at 1.8 oz? Does the blade length have to be under 3" ? I also like to carry smaller lightweight knives which I categorize as Lightweights (< 2.7 oz. Para 3 LW, Hogue Deka, Hogue Ritter Mini RSK 2.5 oz, Artisan Hyperion 2.57 oz), Gentleman (light and thin blade > 3" = CRKT CEO 3.1" 2.1 oz , Al Mar Ultralight Falcon 3.15" 1.8 oz, Real Steel Metamorph 3.54" 2.26 oz) and Minis or Baby knives (blade < 2.5" = Spyderco Dragonfly 2.28" 1.3 oz, Kizer Shard 2.28" 1.73 oz, Bastion Braza Mini Bro 2.12" 1.48 oz.)
No worries on the thought provoking video . 😂 I love your comment ! I actually do think I go the para3 but it would have to be the lightweight one , not the normal one . I’m actually 6foot4-5 and I weigh around 140kg (I don’t know what that is in pounds) My favourite knife in my collection is the mini bug , followed by the kizer Feist , then mini grip and mini Osbourne etc . I guess ivv BC wouldn’t mind if a knife was heavier as long as everything else is perfect like the normal elementum . I’m slowly building my collection and I’m not saying NO to the BLE , I’m just saying I’d prefer it was the sane size as the normal elementum. I’m still going to review it hopefully . I have to feel this knife to see if I can carry it ? Anyway , I appreciate you stopping by and leaving an awesome comment. 🙏🏼
@@OGtalksOops! I meant to say "knife" weight and size frame of reference"! I wasn't trying to get overly personal. 🤦♂️🤣 If you haven't tried the Hogue Dekas or Mini RSKs I would highly recommend that you check them out! They are BM beaters in my book, because of the ABLE Lock (their version of the Axis). I am anxious to get a BLE myself.
@@kurtstreyffeler405 I had a look at those knifes and like what I’m seeing very much . I’d prefer the mini RSK, especially in black / stonewash but that Hogue Deka Wharncliffe looks pretty amazing also !! Really nice recommendations mate .. 👌🏼👌🏼
i was going to definitely not gonna get the elementum button lock cuz no flipper, then i realized it's essentially a gravity knife, NOT really a button lock per se. it's essentially an out the side auto sans deployment spring. so it's a fidget dream. i think the extra weight is for the fidget factor for the gravity deployment. a shorter blade would make it not swing out quite as well
I ended up buying it . If you watch part 3 - I give you 6 reasons not to buy this knife . Sorry mate , wasn’t a fan . The weight was the least of its problems in the end . Each to their own thou . Thanks for stopping by . 🙏🏼✌🏼
@@OGtalks you are right, yo each his own. I don't know what you like but I don't think the weight is bad at all. I carry the PM2, RECON1, ZT566 and an S30V leek and it is slimmer and lighter than all but the leek. Are you selling it?
I’m more into smaller knives . Most of the Benchmade mini’s I like . Already sold the button lock . For me it’s not so much the weight of just the knife , it’s the combination of my keys wallet and phone with the knife weight added . I don’t like having too much crap in my pockets . Welcome to the channel mate . Lots of knife stuff on here . I carry the normal elementum a lot . I worship that knife !
Great content and very professional. I bought and carry the Elementum specifically because of it's size and weight. For me, it is the perfect EDC knife. I have larger folders, but only carry them when in the woods or when I know I'm going to be doing specific cutting tasks. So yes, the push-button Elementum does nothing for me. Heck, I'm waiting on delivery of the Odium.
Well said mate and thanks for sharing . The Odium is a beautiful knife , I’ve been looking at it as well , great price too . So many knifes to get , it’s never ending . 😂 Another subscriber just said they might be making the button lock in a smaller version ? Interesting ! Thank you for comment , it’s appreciated mate . 🙏🏼
For me anything around 3 oz is good. But The button lock/gravity knife is illegal in my state and over 3 inches is a no-go in my city so the original Elementum is fine but the new one can't be carried.
I don’t really think this is a problem - the Button Lock Elementum is not a substitute for a conventional Elementum, but is just an additional model in the line, so if you like the conventional Elementum - nobody can prevent you from using it. To me the Button Lock version is better than the conventional one. I find the Button Lock version size better than the conventional one - in fact I did not ever purchase the conventional Elementum because it was too small for my purposes… And the open/close mechanism in Button Lock is also more convenient to me. The weight of 100 g (+/- 10%) is also quite acceptable for a foldable knife with the overall size of 8 in. So my overall opinion on the Button Lock Version is absolutely positive.
Hey mate . Thanks for stopping by . I’m glad you like the button lock and I respect your opinions . I actually bought the black blade , green mucarta (pictured in the thumbnail of my latest episode) . I’ll be doing a full review on it within the next 2 weeks so stay tuned . Thank you for the support mate , its really appreciated .. ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Dude I really like your channel so far. From what I’m gathering on forums and videos, they are gonna make the normal sized one in the button lock as well. That’s one thing about WE/ CIVIVI knives, they listen to the people. I haven’t picked up a elementum yet, but definitely can’t wait. Thanks for the videos man, I do appreciate your views and opinions.
Wow . What a comment ! Thank you so much mate . This RUclips stuff can be very difficult at times but kind words like this go a long way . 🙏🏼 You’ll absolutely love the elementum straight out the box , it’s an amazing knife and if the button lock was smaller , I’d 100% pick it up . They have to watch their weights cos at a certain point , heavy knives just aren’t fun to carry . Anyway bud , welcome to the channel and thanks again ! ✌🏼
Saw the button lock and was intrigued, but the more i learn about it the more i realize it just doesn't really have a place in my collection, i've got a regular elementum and made an exeption for that knife due to the liner lock ( not a fan of liner locks finger in blade path and a bit finiky imo ) its a big big, i thought perhaps the larger size was to accomodate the lock mech? Not sure how it works at this stage. Ultimate fidget factor for me goes to my buttery smooth Benchmade 940 i could play with that allll day. I just picked up a Benchmade 535 - 3 Carbon fibre / s90v and its amazingly light compared to my normal damascus elementum, never thought i would be such a snob for materials and weight
😂 me either mate . I’ve become a bit of a snob myself . It’s funny how the little things really matter and add up . I don’t like having anything too heavy in my pocket otherwise it just takes away from the experience . Benchmade really is gold standard . I find myself with a benchie in my pocket more than any other brand . I was excited about the button lock but it’s a hard pass for me now . Thanks for stopping by , it’s appreciated .. 🙏🏼
Honestly , I think the normal elementum is still 100 times better than this button lock version . I love the way the Adamas looks but that’s too much weight for me personally . Each to their own I guess . Thanks for stopping by and commenting mate , it’s appreciated ! 🙏🏼
Personally I prefer a larger knife. Being that typically carry at least 3 knives at all times weight is also of very little concern. I will be adding a button lock Elementum to my collection because I love the look and try to round out my collection with unique knives based on materials, actions and lock styles. I realize that others use different thought processes to build their collections that’s why I love seeing what others carry. I can’t own them all so seeing, sharing and talking knives is the closest I’m gonna get to touching them all.
This series was in 3 parts . Watch the part 3 if you get a chance . I give you 6 reasons why you shouldn’t buy the BLE . It’s not a good knife and it’s got nothing to with size . Buy a spyderco dragonfly instead . I guess the biggest reason I don’t like big knives is because my phone already weighs a ton . My keys are awkward (even thou , I’ve streamlined them as well ) I carry a prybar on key chain and that’s me . I don’t like having my pockets full of crap . It makes me feel uneasy . Thank you for the great comment mate . I too enjoy talking about knives . It’s a great hobby . Not sure if you’re on Instagram ? But I’m over there under the same name . Appreciate the comment . 🙏🏼✌🏼👌🏼
Got my 3 buttonlocks yesterday.. couldn't choose which one to carry they are pretty. Have a job where i cant taje out the knife but perfect deepcarry for that case and the fun factor ia beyond anything else.. the only knife i can open and close with two fingers u got use to it so fast and youre addicted befor u know it
Personally, I don't think there is anything to "overlook". The amount of mass added is negligible. EDC items are not only a matter of mass but of mentality; if part of your mindset in your edc includes that desire to want more cutting edge or grip length, maybe because you have larger mitts, then what you're willing to carry simply matches your mentality. So, before it really reaches an issue with "mass in actuality" it reaches an issue of "mass in mentality." Is it actually too big or too heavy? Nah. But it could be outside of the preference margins for the user needs.
Yes mate . Extremely well said . It mostly is personal preference. This knife is just too big . I ended up buying one to review so stay tuned . It should be a funny one . 😂 thanks for stopping by . ✌🏼
Lmao . I wish it was even bigger I’m glad they made it larger. You know people have different taste right and this knife sells out faster that it arrives so I’d say plenty of people don’t mind the size
I wasn't even interested in the Elementum Button Lock until I found out they had made it longer. As for weight, until a folder weighs more than my spare mag, I ain't too concerned 😀
Fair enough .. glad its the knife for you … I still wouldn’t recommend it . It feels very cheap but I guess that’s why it’s a budget knife . If I was you I’d look at spyderco second hand instead , especially if you’re in the states . Para 3 or paramilitary 2 if you’re looking for a good size . Good luck . Thanks for stopping by . ✌🏼
@@OGtalks Funny you should say that, I've been carrying a Spyderco Yojumbo (larger version of a Yojimbo) for a while now. I had always had Benchmades and never any Spydies. Now that I've tried one I am really liking them. Planning on a Manix 2 XL and a Paramilitary 2 soon. Already got my kid a Para 3. I just want to try Civivi out because most folks seem to talk them up like they are great. As cool as I think the button lock is, leaning towards the Praxis.
People talk Civivi up because they’re affordable but in my experience they’re also very clunky . You get what you pay for . The only one I’ve ever kept is the normal elementum . .Spyderco ; you have to hold one to get hooked on em . I didn’t understand that brand until I held one . Then I was hooked
@@OGtalks Same here. I always thought- goofy bird head looking chunk. I train FMA so when Michael Janich designed the Yojimbo and spoke about how effective a Wharncliffe was, I had to try one. Now I have bought a total of 4 Spydies. I appreciate the insight on the Civivi's. I actually found the video while searching "Civivi problems" to see if I could hear anything negative about them. I'm gonna take a chance on the Praxis. It is worth 40bux, to me, to find out if the fanfare is warranted. Here's one - I bought a Cold Steel AD10 and wasn't thrilled. Seemed like it was made really quick and that knife got great reviews. It was $170 and honestly seemed like an $80 knife to me.
You know I’m noticing a lot of people don’t tell it how it is and on RUclips . Obviously you didn’t want to piss these companies off but I think it’s important to give constructive criticism too .. it’s almost like ; if you want to know something about a product ; definitely don’t come to RUclips ! 😂 I really try to be as honest as I can on my channel . I don’t want to give bad advice because then my credibility is shot .. It’s so funny that the Chinese make some many locking knives and it’s illegal to have locking knives in China .. 😂 I haven’t tried cold steel yet , it does seem a bit pricey ..
I don’t mind the length, it’s the perfect length for me, I just wish they had made it thicker with the same proportions as the regular elementum. The other I don’t like is how much the button appears to stick out.. Seems like it could easily be accidentally depressed. And the other thing I don’t like are the available color combos. I’m just not feeling them. The all black is my favorite of the bunch, but it seems like a tactical color scheme on a not so tactical knife. I’m gonna pass for now.
Just got mine today. First impressions: hair popping sharp, but quite a noticeable uneven grind at the tip. WE should understand that translates as a ding against their reputation for exacting standards. Not a huge deal. I'll take care of it when I sharpen. Even though relatively well-off youtubers keep raising the bar of what they consider a "budget" knife, I don't consider this budget - especially when Ganzo is making comparable knives for less than half this price. In other words, I'm expecting a lot for what they're charging - because that's what they've been delivering up to this point. Which brings me to the next thing that is a bit disappointing: the "micarta" looks and feels like cheap plastic. The best thing I can say about the scales is that they feel fine in the hand and have the right amount of grip. If I had to do it over again I think I would go for the G10 scales. Maybe a light sanding and some oil will help. OK, I know that sounds like a lot of negatives, but overall, I really like the knife. You could fidget with it all day long if that's your thing. I usually just use my knife to cut things, but they really nailed the mechanism. It works perfectly and it's satisfying to play with. As for size and weight, it was smaller, thinner, and lighter than I expected. I'm sure a lot of guys are tickled by your focus on the weight of this thing - and I'm tickled by that - but you know what you want. I carry an AD-10 in work pants and forget it's there. To each his own. As for blade length, it's just about perfect for me. I like an EDC knife that can cut an apple in one go without breaking it. A lot of guys seem to be disappointed that it doesn't have thumb studs and/or a flipper tab. Apparently I'm in a very small group that thinks most thumb studs get in the way of actually cutting things, so this is perfect for me. If more people used their knives for more than opening boxes, I think thumb studs might actually be a fad, but the way things are going, they'll be around for a good long time. Well, this went on for a bit. I guess I had a couple of things to say. Your video popped up when I searched Civivi button lock. I'm going to check out what you're channel is all about and you might just pick up another subscriber. - Cheers m8
Wow . Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment . I feel like I’ve been getting attacked all week because of this video . 😂 I’ll be honest with you . After having the elementum (which I love but is borderline too heavy ) the we banter which I hated mostly because of the closing mechanism , I did a video on it ; also the pintail which had a horrible way of closing also , natural micarta which didn’t look like anything in the photo , horrible plastic looking ; I’m actually not feeling the brand at all . I think they’re a one hit wonder with the elementum and that’s it for me . They make chunky knives that are too heavy with crappy materials and they’re really not for me . I don’t understand why they didn’t make the button out of the letter C on the BLE , why add an actual button when the logo could be used as one and like you said , look at the amount of amazing budget knives out there , I don’t thing WE/Civivi is budget at all . I know a lot of that sounds harsh but I just haven’t had great experiences with this company . I know the button lock looks like fun to play with but so is the normal elementum at a smaller size . Anyway , to each his own . You brought up so many good points . Thank you again for you comment , it was a breath of fresh air this week . I was actually surprised that more people didn’t comment that they didn’t like the larger size either because a few forums there were many People who didn’t like that it was bigger . Anyway . You made my day . It’s appreciated . 🙏🏼
@@OGtalks No problem. I'll be interested to hear what you think about my other comment. As for what you just said, I'm glad this comment made you feel better. People really seem to like to mix it up on the ol' interwebs. Best to laugh off most of it - especially when when it's such low stakes stuff. As for the knife, it's funny how much it has divided people (though most haven't actually held/used one). I really do like it. Do I wish all of those things I mentioned were better, nicer, cheaper? Yes - and it really checks a lot of boxes for me. I could actually return it, but I don't want to, so I guess that says it all. If I change my mind about it in the future, I'll definitely let you know. Totally agree with you about the "C" logo. It would have been really cool, but the engineering would have been a bit of a nightmare and increased the cost of the knife. The first Civivis were definitely chunky beasts, but well made and relatively affordable. I think they've made a real effort to slim down and really listen to feedback. They may never be slim enough for you though. ;) Speaking of which, I think you came into the knife world at a time when good quality "ultralight" knives were getting popular. It's really never been like that, so good timing there mate. I have and have been happy with the Governor. I think it's underrated in the Civivi lineup, but it would be too big and heavy for your tastes. Also, the thumb studs (as in most knives) do get in the cutting path (I know, I'm really in the minority here) and the BLE solves that issue for me while providing what IMHO is the perfect EDC blade length. Because I don't consider Civivi budget, I was able to justify the purchase of the Governor by paying for most of it with credit card points. That's how I justify buying most of my knives. ;) As I mentioned in my other comment, I'm really not trying to become a knife collector! ;) But, again, the button lock version of the Elementum checked so many boxes, that I pulled the trigger at $59 shipped (I used a 10% off code). I have to give kudos to White Mountain Knives. Very smooth, quick, professional process. I will buy from them again if the price is right. (For some reason they're now charging more than amazon for Ganzos, but maybe that's temporary.) If I had to pay full price and shipping, I'd really have to think twice. Ok, this is too long already. In the end, none of this is a big deal. We'll do this stuff as long as we enjoy it, and let's all try to practice sympathy and empathy as we make our way through this insane world. - All the best!
That’s a great price . In Australia I’m pretty sure they’re around $150 . Way too exependive for me . You can add $30 and just get a mini grip . I’m so jealous of you guys up there . I want an auto in my life , like a Protech sprint !! That’s my dream knife that I’ll never hold . Yeah I noticed I came into the knife game with a lot of lighter knives . Another subscriber called me a knife snob ! 😂 damn it ! It’s not something I want to be known as . 😕
@@OGtalks Yeah, knife prices might be decent here, but I'd trade good affordable health care and a pension for that any day. Not to put too fine a point on it, but this country sucks on so many levels...Maybe one day I'll be able to get out for good. Who knows, maybe I'll make it to Australia some day. I know nowhere is perfect, but a lot of places are better than here. Didn't mean to get all serious, but whenever I hear Australians and Europeans talk about how good we have it when it comes to availability and prices, I always think, if you only knew...To keep it 100: relatively cheap consumer prices and stuff is one of the last tools the establishment has had to keep us docile - and that is fading fast. That and struggling to afford basic things like rent, food, school, health and car insurance, and all of the basics. It's quite a "system." Or as the Rastas call it, the "shitstem." Ok, the rant is over. Bet you didn't expect that! ;) Come to think of it, you probably know some of the real deal from listening to hip hop, but a lot of the reality gets filtered out in most media. And if people visit, they don't have to see or experience any of it, so the illusion is maintained - but it's all there for anyone to see if they look. Ok, the rant is really over now. - Peace
Honestly mate . I see everything that going on over there and it scares the crap out of me . You guys sure do have it rough at the migrant . The country is divided . Journalism is non existent , it’s about picking a side and lying 🤥 as much as you can trying to make the other side fall . I hate talking about politics because I always say something to offend so Iill tread lightly . We haven’t had much COVID down here and to see you guys going through all you’re going through is heartbreaking . The truth is very hard see or find These days too, you really don’t know what to believe . Australia is a an amazing country , we do have problems also but nothing compared to the states . It really is paradise and feel so blessed every single day to be living here . Melbourne’s win most liveable city more times than I even know ? I live in a beautiful suburb where it’s safe , I mean most of Melbourne’s safe because we have strict gun laws . Guns are non existent down here . I really can’t complain about anything ever ! I telly hope things work out for you guys up there . I really don’t know what to say . I don’t want to offend you . I always really want the best for everyone . Not for people who can’t carry knives with a blade over 3 inches mate . Will be reviewing it next week . Just bought it . Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by . ✌🏼
@@evile1174 like I said I just bought it . No problems in my city . I live in Melbourne, Australia . But there are plenty of places like the state of New York and California where you can buy this knife but you can’t carry it outside because of that blade length . Cheers
I have the mini Osbourne and it’s one of my favourites . You really do get what you pay for . Thanks for the nice comment , I’ve been getting attacked over this post all week . 😂
I know I wouldn’t like it . I barely carry the normal elementum because of the weight . As much as I’d love to get my hands on one , I don’t get paid from this RUclips stuff so dropping $120 on a knife I’d hate just isn’t practical . Thanks for stopping by . ✌🏼
I kinda think the length would be the main factor here. I can’t see me fidgeting with it if it’s too long. But I do fidget with my Spyderco Spydiechef, so .. 😂
I tried finding info on why they went large with a knife that’s predominantly made to fidget with ? I just don’t get it . Also , why didn’t they make the letter ‘C’ the button . Looks kinda crap ... dunno , each to their own . Thanks for the comment mate ! 🙏🏼
@@OGtalks don’t even mention it buddy. Actually, can you help me decide which elementum to get? I’m torn between the two wooden variants. One comes with a black-coated blade (stonewashed) and the other comes with a plain, satin one. Check them out if you haven’t. They look cool.
Yeah I know those knives well . Personally , I’d go the black blade , then down the line , I’d order black scales and have the baddest looking Elementum out . Always wanted to do that but yeah ; personally , I prefer the wood / black blade ... let me know how you go ! 🙏🏼
I just ordered one . I know I’m going to hate it , only because of the size . The rest of it I don’t mind . Yeah , I agree ; multiple opening options would have been great also ! Thank you for stopping by , good to see I’m not alone .
I didn’t like the Elementum, until Civivi made the button lock version. I bought it for it’s locking mechanism, but If it hadn’t been as long as it is, I wouldn’t have kept it. You just like smaller knives. I admittedly, appreciate larger knives. To each his own, but nothing is wrong the the button lock Elementum. Pivot your perspective.
All good brother . I don’t take anything personally . Many channels aren’t honest in any of their reviews . Personally I’m really not feeling this one . Im actually not really feeling anything civivis doing lately but like you said , each to their own . ✌🏼✌🏼
Yeah mabe the company got too many requests to make the profile longer before they released it, who knows, is it really that much of a problem:/ I think the knife is cool, I get mine next week:)... respect
IMO this knife is to long for a fidget factor , probably would feel awkwardly annoying being the blade is too long , I wouldn't buy it , I rather have the size of the regular Elementum , what was Civivi thinking, but then again I'm sure some people like that length , again it's a deal breaker for me , Thank for sharing ✌
I’m sure it’ll still be a very popular knife , it’s just not for me . That weight is crazy for me . I just know it’d bother me having it in my pocket . Anyway . Hope you’re doing well .. 🙏🏼
@@OGtalks thanks for replying Mate , I feel the same about the size and weight , definitely not for me , however Im sure there are others who would like it , take care ✌

Seems restricted choices mostly based on daily lifestyle. If you are accustomed to the outdoors, military background....then one might question the the review as a purely someone who is cautious not to miss a salon appointment.
So my channel is mostly about EDC . I don’t hunt and I’m not in the military . I’m a videographer that lives in a concrete slab of 5 million people . The salon appointment couldn’t be further from who I am … watch part 3 , I talk about this knife even more and it’s all bad .. cheers for stopping by . ✌🏼
Fidgeting with knives to me is just childish, also I have carried a buck 110 and cold steel spartan also belt knives etc. Weight isn't a problem if you think an extra 0.745 ounces is to heavy well I don't get it it's not like you're a tree surgeon, gardener or hiker of which you would be carrying a lot of equipment.
I used to be a heavy smoker and after quitting I used to need to hold a knife , fidget spinner or play the Nintendo switch just to give my hands something to do . I’m going on 3 years now and I fidget less now . I sold the switch but still have fidget spinners around the house . The weight is important to me because I don’t want to notice that a have a knife in my pocket . I carry a knife everywhere I go and prefer knives that I can’t feel until I need it . For me the normal elementum (78 grams) is the absolute most I’m willing to carry in my pocket and the button lock just doesn’t fit that criteria . I did order one in for review . Stay tuned , it should be a fun one . 😂
Nah , it’s just a crap knife … PS . It’s not just the knife ; it’s the phone , it’s the wallet . It’s the keys . Etc . Watch part 3 if you get a sec . ✌🏼
Who cares about size? I’ll carry 10 ounces without a worry. I bought the button lock Elementum, should arrive this week. I prefer my bigger knives. My wife carries small knives.
Damn. Your carry criteria is strict as hell. 2.8 is a feather. This is my first visit to your channel, so I guess you are and EDC'r, not simply a knife enthusiast like myself. In my world, 2.8 oz is ultralight for a mid sized folder like the elementum. I usually carry a folder in the 3.5-4.5 range with exceptions of course. Maybe check out the new stuff that CH knives is doing. The value you get on some of the newest ones are mindblowing. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the comment mate ! Yeah I guess I am kinda strict on my carry ! 😂 I never really realised that .. I’ve had the spyderco manbug in my pocket for too long (19 grams - .8 of an ounce?) 😂 weights really bother me .. I’ll be honest with ya , a friends getting this button lock ; I need to see it person . It’s really got me curios now .
The ounces here happen to line up with blade length. The original was under 3 inches blade length, now it's more. A huge amount of people now can't carry it legally. Coupled with the fact that it's now a button opening knife (not just button lock), with no spring-powered bias towards closed, it is now more clearly a gravity knife, which makes it even more restricted in many areas. I think they knew knife guys would buy it anyway, so they released it. But if they could have spent more R&D to master the detent and make it operable with a thumb stud or flipper, and maybe made a plus or minus 3 inch blade version available, it would be a best seller worldwide.
@@deltafunction0 wow . You’re right I didn’t even think about that . The whole 3inch blade thing . There are so many places that couldn’t have it just for that reason plus the gravity opening . You’re so right . Damn , I’d love to see a list with all they places they can’t sell this knife . After all the conversation about this knife . I really want and need to review it !
@@OGtalks well I'll give you a short list (I am not an attorney this is not legal advice), one cannot carry this knife in the states of New York or California, and that's just places I've lived, but there could be also New Jersey, Massachusetts, anywhere that lawmakers saw West Side Story and got freaked out by a dude with a (gasp) switchblade. 12 Angry Men even. That's a market loss of about 55 million people between NY and CA just for a half inch of blade length. Why.
@@deltafunction0 west side story ! 😂😂😂 best comment ever ! That’s a huge number thou . See this is why I made this video to get se fantastic comments like these and yo just have a discussion about this knife . It’s not all champagne and caviar . 😂 Surely there was a boardroom meeting where things like this were brought up ? 55 million people and that’s just a few states . Damn !! I wanna talk about this on my next video . I hope that’s ok ?
When it comes to weight, to each their own. Think about this for a moment. I have an average Samsung telephone 7.5 ounces or 212 grams. I carry that in whatever I wear, so does everyone else. I do not see anyone looking for 3 ounce or 85 grams telephone. If you can carry an average telephone, you can just as easily manage a knife over 3 ounces. Weigh your wallet if you want another example.
Respectfully I disagree .. it’s because of my heavy phone , car keys and other crap in my pockets that I don’t want anymore added weight . You’re right about to each their own thou . I’ve had over 60 knives . Most of the real popular ones from pretty much every maker . I truly believe the button lock wasn’t a good knife . Anyway ; cheers for stopping by . ✌🏼
@@OGtalks Well said. I appreciate your reply and opportunity to express my thoughts. I just wanted to draw attention to weights of other every day objects we carry, with respect to a knife.
If you think that’s heavy, try carrying an ad15 in your shorts while running down the stairs after the postal carrier (she refused to leave a package without a signature. She left everything else, but never rang the bell for the knife delivery). I still have an ice pack on my twig and berries!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 ahahahaha !!! Best comment on my channel ! 😂😂😂
Pinned !!! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼😂😂
The sweet spot for EDC in my opinion is under 4 oz and 3 1/2 “ blade. Interesting what some people call “too heavy”.
That’s too big and heavy for my EDC . With keys , phone and airpods I don’t want my pants falling down . 😂
I don’t need an 8 inch knife in my pocket when I’m heading out to dinner or to watch a game .
@@OGtalks I'm always happy to see more variety!
Me too ! 👌🏼
my personal edc is a coldsteel 4max scout which is 10" long and 10.2 ounces. and its a triad backlock. yet i still fidget with it. no problems here
It’s not so much the fidget factor .
Anyway , thanks again mate 🔥
I’d have all pro-techs in my

I’m actually 6foot4-5 and I weigh around 140kg (I don’t know what that is in pounds)
My favourite knife in my collection is the mini bug , followed by the kizer Feist , then mini grip and mini Osbourne etc .
I have to feel this knife to see if I can carry it ?

i was going to definitely not gonna get the elementum button lock cuz no flipper, then i realized it's essentially a gravity knife, NOT really a button lock per se. it's essentially an out the side auto sans deployment spring. so it's a fidget dream. i think the extra weight is for the fidget factor for the gravity deployment. a shorter blade would make it not swing out quite as well
Awesome knife. Smaller than a PM2. Just got it yesterday. You have to try it. Love it not too heavy or bulky.

Another subscriber just said they might be making the button lock in a smaller version ? Interesting !
Thank you for comment , it’s appreciated mate . 🙏🏼
Weight and length are absolutely fine. You just like have a preference for small light knives it seems...
100 % I do . Thanks for stopping by mate ! 💪🏼✌🏼✌🏼
For me anything around 3 oz is good. But The button lock/gravity knife is illegal in my state and over 3 inches is a no-go in my city so the original Elementum is fine but the new one can't be carried.
You don’t want it anyway . Horrible knife . Cheap as hell . One of the worst big name knives I’ve ever handled . Don’t believe the hype ..
Too heavy? You weigh about 300 pounds and you’re complaining about a few ounces! 😂
😂 312 to be exact ! 😘
PS. Watch part 3 … ✌🏼
You’ll absolutely love the elementum straight out the box , it’s an amazing knife and if the button lock was smaller , I’d 100% pick it up .
I really want the small elementum and the fixed elementum. Im not too worried about weight as I carry a full size benchmade adamas as an edc.
So I have one and it's perfect, love the size and for its light as a feather, carries like a dream. Love it!!!
That’s awesome mate . How’s the fidget factor ? You finding it hard to put away ? 😂 looks like it could be addictive !!
@@OGtalks yes VERY fidgety, and having the ceramic bearings makes it so smooth. So far so good.
I wanna review it so bad !!
Got my 3 buttonlocks yesterday.. couldn't choose which one to carry they are pretty. Have a job where i cant taje out the knife but perfect deepcarry for that case and the fun factor ia beyond anything else.. the only knife i can open and close with two fingers u got use to it so fast and youre addicted befor u know it
@@SnerASDF yea they are pretty sweet hey.
This knife is a disaster . Watch part 3 . I give you 6 reasons not to buy it .
Thanks for stopping by . Sorry I insulted your knife . 🙏🏼✌🏼✊🏼
I really try to be as honest as I can on my channel . I don’t want to give bad advice because then my credibility is shot ..
It’s so funny that the Chinese make some many locking knives and it’s illegal to have locking knives in China .. 😂
I haven’t tried cold steel yet , it does seem a bit pricey ..
I think they should of made the button out of the ‘C’ . What you think ?
@@OGtalks That would be cool!
I’ll be honest with you .
I was actually surprised that more people didn’t comment that they didn’t like the larger size either because a few forums there were many
People who didn’t like that it was bigger .
- Peace

All good. I respect honesty and vulnerable way you produce your vids. I look forward to supporting your efforts and energy. God speed!
Knife plus belt equals knife love for me

Why.

@@LonestarTaoboy thank you for taking the time to comment mate ! Legend 💪🏼
I have both the OG and the button lock, the 3/4 of a Oz. difference is not worth crying over in weight.
Sorry mate , I don’t agree but that’s ok, we can still be friends ! ✌🏼✌🏼
Thanks for stopping by , it’s appreciated ..
