17:00 coming from a guy born in South Africa, I side with you on that. I too am biased on American superhero comic books myself. I found channels such as yours, ComicPop & Comicstorian refreshing because of that. 19:20 my stance on this is more coming from some (and probably a most alarming) bit of OCD. Whenever I see a warrior with just one pauldron, my brain immediately goes "why does this guy only have one shoulder covered, and not the other?" I saw it a lot on the Clone Wars on Captain Rex (I'm sure there were other Clone Trooper captains as well, but its just too much to keep track of) to be specific. Pedantic, yes, but still, I felt confused.
To be fair, the Antikythera Device is theorised as the oldest computing device, credited as having been made in Ancient Greek times. So yeah, I can see why they said "first all-electronic computers."
Going back and re-watching these. So much fun! Also, the one about the Kool-Aid Man is still wrong. In a vacuum, the only way to transfer heat away from an object is for that object to radiate (much less efficient than conduction or convection), so the Kool-Aid Man wouldn't freeze due to the absence of heat for quite some time. Linkara is correct that the lack of air pressure would have the greatest effect. However, since there wouldn't be enough heat energy present for the entire batch of liquid to boil/evaporate, it would both evaporate AND freeze in a vacuum. You'd end up with a chunk of ice (with other solids) and some water vapor. There are some videos of this happening floating around here, I'm sure (look for water under a vacuum if interested).
All the other comments here have covered everything I would want to say, except for one thing: The way Robby says "Fluffy!" in the Charmin commercial is cute as hell. Thank you.
Yeah, that was kind of those moments that I thought the animated series was better because it cut out all that crap so that characters don't end up implying awful things, majoritively...
Hey! Hey! Lewis! Did you know that the writer of "Batman: Fortunate Son" is currently in jail for charges of child pornography possession? I'm as in shock as you may be!
I gotta say, the single shoulder pad has always been a character design pet peeve of mine. Until this video, I had no idea there actually was practical application to having just one shoulder pad, and I'd argue that most character designers are the same way; it seems so often that so many characters are given one shoulder pad not because it's practical, but because asymmetry is kewl!
While I thought #11 was an understandable and altogether mild mistake when I first watched the Ultimates episodes, I'm glad to see it was eventually addressed. Forgive the flattery, but as far as I'm concerned, you're no idiot; Atop the Fourth Wall is as perfect as Robby.
No, Douchey does now that he's in the plothole removing mistakes in place of the Nostalgia Critic, who was living in an alternate world where his mother killed herself while he was doing a movie with Arnold Schwartzenagger and took revenge on the movie industry by making sucky remakes of good movies.
...Hoo boy. Don't let any of the shodingers cat (cant spell) people anywhere near Virtues Last Reward. We might all pay. There is a grossly oversimplified version in it and it's used as an excuse to make a bunch of cat puns. Plus I'm not sure if it has relevance to the story. I think they used it to try to explain some stuff in the game, but I could just remember wrong.
They use it to explain how Sigma and Phi are able to use future events to affect the past. This is in spite of the fact that even the game acknowledges that Sigma and Phi are not traveling through time, but rather jumping to alternate universes where things happened differently. And yes, the game does use the many worlds interpretation and other thought experiments accurately, so I don't know why they screwed the pooch on schrodinger's cat.
The more I look at which French-Belgium comics have been translated in English, the more I'm baffled. Les Légendaires : a fantastic fantasy story, with lots of comedy, action, drama, and character development. Each new volume ends up top-selling. Not afraid to deal with issues like death, romantic and family relationships, atoning for past crimes, and even killing main characters. Manga-styled, in order to attract a broad audience. No official translation exists. Walter Melon : a series that relies entirely on the complexity of its dialog, filled with intricate puns and elevated language. Uses a speech figure known as "amphigouri" (writing a text as voluntarily unintelligible and burlsque) that doesn't even have an English equivalent. Yet some nutball thought to himself "Hey, this would the perfect series to adapt for an English-reading audience". This is unfair. But yeah, no wonder you can't find a good European comic to review. It seems very few of them get exported. Which is a bit sad, really...
10:37 At the time the comic was printed, the existence of Colossus was generally unknown and unmentioned, even in books on computer history. Since the British continued to use it for code-breaking well into the Cold War, it was a classified secret until the mid-70s (which is also why no WW2 documentaries made before that period mention the Engima code-breaking at all, it was classified). On the other hand, the American ENIAC computer was displayed for the press in 1946, and was subsequently recorded in history books as the first digital computer, which wasn't quickly corrected once Colossus was de-classified. Thus Colossus' existence was pretty obscure knowledge until the internet made it easier to fact-check your history books. In short, you and the comic can both be forgiven for not knowing this :D
You make a good point. Those swear words could be said, but you don't think the quality of the show would match those swear words. I understand completely.
Linkara 2010: I have made it no secret that I am a capitalist. Linkara 2022: It’s not enough for big, greedy corporations to make money. Today, you have to make ALL THE MONEY or else you’re somehow doing it wrong.
There's good capitalism and bad capitalism. Good means you're actually capitalizing on something, providing a service or product people want at a price they can afford, while still making a profit for yourself that you can live on AND use to improve the product/service, business and working conditions, and even lifestyles of anyone who works for you. That's also why competition is important, to continually show that you can still produce a good product, while others are producing similar products. Bad capitalism is using your money and resources to push any and all competition out of the market, while exploiting every single avenue possible, and impossible, to make money off of, at the expense of the conditions of the production line, and eventually the product/service itself. At this point, we're only using the product/service because it's the only one available, and we have to deal with any and all caveats related to it because all other avenues have been closed off. Or, and this has become much more prevalent in today's business world, because we need to "swear allegiance" to a certain producer, because they give the impression they "stand for something", and anyone who doesn't support them means they're "against the message" and a traitor to be ostracized by society. If Xbox could legally cut service off for anyone who also owns a PlayStation, and vice versa, or who spoke against them, they would! TL;DR: Good capitalism is actually capitalism. Bad capitalism is pure exploitation.
I like the audio and lighting for this video, and you can tell there's improvement. From here on out, the quality was going to be ALOT better than all the pervious videos and would stay that way going forward.
Oh yes just because making a living using a computer means you should totally be an expert in the history of computer technology. Just like me being an artist means that I should know the entire history of canvases and where they were first used.
In One of my college classes, we are learning about the history of computers and the internet starting with information about Charles Babbage and the Coleuses so it was A great surprise to see Linkara talk about it in 9:26
Re the 'Room/Roof' accent, I think it's the part of the Canadian accent that has been formed from Scottish origins. Minnesota is close enough to Canada to make this theory feasible, that it (the Minnesotan) accent has been influenced by Scots as well.
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall I apologize if I seemed like I was making a snarky or sarcastic comment. I legitimately enjoyed that aspect of this list. You walked the line between holding self respect, and being bitter, and it was all because of your personality and intellect alone, which is why I watch your content even above the Nostalgia Critic's. I guess I also enjoyed it because the mistakes you made were not very big ones. At least not in my eyes.
Space Lemon. Well, then my own apologies if I judged your comment too harshly. The compliments are well-taken and very much appreciated and I'm glad you enjoy the show! ^_^
Linkara, just because you fuck up once in a while doesn't make you less of an awesome dude ^^ We all fuck up sometimes ;) But still a funny video as always
Your mistake with the Super Cruiser is still a big goof XD. The thing blatantly has an arseload of windows on the back section. Not exactly common features of moving vans, those. And silly people, the Kool-Aid Man's magic forcefield that keeps him from spilling stuff out his top when he does stunts would protect his contents from the vacuum of space! ;) :P
I have loved the "no swearing" criticism you've gotten since waaay back in the halcyon days of Channel Awesome before everyone running that site took their prescribed asshole pills and either became raging losers or just finally let their masks slip off that they always were. Me? I cuss like a fucking seasoned sailor, but when I'm at work or in a public setting? Not so much, never have, never will. Not for prudish reasons- I just prefer being professional when I'm on the clock, and since these videos are kind of your income, until this video (way back in the day, I'm rewatching old stuff while gaming), I just assumed it was more so professionalism than prudishness. Also, you curse (rarely) on Twitter, so there's that lol
Wow Linkara I thought I knew everything about computers and their history but I didn't wow you taught me something about my favorite tech thanks I really appreciate it.
While I am a socialist and support taxes, it does get kinda annoying to have characters like Crowe say that stuff is free in Europe. We are most definitely _not_ a socialist utopia. We pay taxes to make all those things work and there are a lot of people who complain about it and even some who would rather have it privatized like in America. I think those people are idiots, but they still exist.
ACTUAL LEE Screw Up #16: Choosing not to swear is personal preference, not a mistake. There're some problems with classifying the Marky Mark thing and the choice not to review good European comics as mistakes too. This is more like a response video to common complaints (at the time), but that's not a catchy title.
For the electric computer, according to "The first electronic computer" by Alice Burks, the British computer (called Colossus and made by Alan Turning) was made in 1943, while the first electric computers were made in the late 1930s (1937) by J.V. Atanasoff, in Iowa, USA. So the comic was correct in the country, but was a decade off. However, Atanasoff failed to finish this, so his student Clifford Berry finished the computer in 1941. It wasn't programmable, but was still able to preform 29 different equation with 29 unknowns, simultaneously. It was impressive at the time. I'm sure other people said this, but I didn't see it so I felt I had to say this.
"It's boring because I only end up saying 'this is good.'" And the negative reviews boil down to just saying ''this is bad." Not criticizing here, I just bring it up because I am so glad that a lot of critics have grown beyond that attitude.
Shoulder pad on one shoulder makes no sense. Yeah, it looks cool as heck, but it's also signaling your enemies which side they should attack you from. Freddie Prinze Jr. Said it best as Iron Bull in DAI, and you don't argue with Iron Bull
You know, Linkara always says he doesn't like swearing in his videos, but he does say a few choice words from time to time. I do know he's said 'hell' at least once and I'm pretty sure he's said 'damn' at least once. I'm just pointing this out because Nitpick was bitching about it.
Well some people, like myself, dont really count words like Damn or Hell as curse words or all that bad really, Hell is a place and while the meaning of damn is pretty bad to a religious person most people wouldn't feel offended by its use. The problem people see is that Linkara doesn't use words like fuck shit or bitch, these words are far worse then the ones he does use but people don't like unneeded censorship in videos that show those words along with much worse things. I really don't have a problem with it and i do like how Linkara tries to be funny with out the use of those words but it gets weird when i hear him read one panel in the characters voice but censors himself with "Mother F'er" and the like.
Yeah, that's how I feel in a nutshell. I use anything and everything with the exception of bitch, bastard, and anything to do with religion. I've been trying to break the habit of yelling 'goddamnit' or 'god' in general when I'm trying to express my feelings of annoyance, but it's rather difficult. Until I started making my own videos, I never realized how much I swear. It's a bit excessive. I was rewatching one episode in which Linkara says, "God Bless it" and maybe it's because I'm religious, but I think that's a fantastic alternative. I do like Linkara's approach to it. Another person I watch doesn't swear at all save for using 'crap', and it's nice to just sit down and relax without tons of swearing in my face sometimes.
He does swear, but not the more colorful 4 letter words, like f*ck, sh*t, or c*nt, and does keep his swearing a bit more controlled than other reviewers
Meanwhile, in 2023, Linkara is now a Progressive who want's corporations and billionaires to be Taxed to hell, decries capitalism, and STILL hasn't reviewed any Shadow comics. Life's funny innit?
It's perfectly acceptable for a giant anthropomorphic glass pitcher of Kool-Aid to smash through solid bricks without shattering into pieces, but *not* acceptable for him to freeze in space. Okay...
And how would shoulder pads apply for FIREARMS? What, are they supposed to help brace against recoil? Then why aren't the guns held in a braced position for those stupid looking pads to work?
Mark and Donnie were known to work together in the early days of the group, so he could have been a member breifly. Confusing Previous Statement I know his brother was and he did help them get their start. So he could have been at the very least.
@@ryanangelastro504 Mark Wahlberg's brother. I meant to say I knew of his brother Donnie being part of New Kids On The Block and that the two frequently aided each other when working on music; however I was in a hurry when I wrote the comment. Sorry to make you ask when my simply explaining it in the first place would have worked.
the first computer i think generally considered to count was made in ancient rome which i think calculated the days or something like that ran on complicated gears so the first computers did not use electricity as it was not made yet
Nice video... even though Mark Wahlberg's brother's name is Donnie and not Danny ;^) But you did predict he was going to be called Danny (he plays a character called Danny on the CBS Family Cop Drama 'Blue Bloods'). You see the future!
honest shoidingers cat is fairly simple when you get right down too it the thought test goes like this shoidinger puts both a bowl of radioactive liquid and a cat into a lead box and seals it while said cat is seal inside the box it is in a super state where it is both alive and dead until the box is opened fusing both states of the cat into one, either alive or dead

I gotta say, the single shoulder pad has always been a character design pet peeve of mine. And the negative reviews boil down to just saying ''this is bad."
Not criticizing here, I just bring it up because I am so glad that a lot of critics have grown beyond that attitude.
Number 13: How dare you make fun of The Maxx!
Kenshiro with one shoulder pad will always look harder than the 2 padded one
Another person I watch doesn't swear at all save for using 'crap', and it's nice to just sit down and relax without tons of swearing in my face sometimes.
he says that later in his video if you watch the whole thing that he does curse sometimes. and has no problem cursing.
He does swear, but not the more colorful 4 letter words, like f*ck, sh*t, or c*nt, and does keep his swearing a bit more controlled than other reviewers
He actually does eventually drop the F bomb in the movie
Kinda funny how you do cover way more non-American stuff nowadays.
The Happening joke was awesome!
So...Lewis, you think we'll get a 3rd screw-ups installment in the future? Maybe this year?
Meanwhile, in 2023, Linkara is now a Progressive who want's corporations and billionaires to be Taxed to hell, decries capitalism, and STILL hasn't reviewed any Shadow comics. Life's funny innit?
Disillusionment's a hell of a drug! =)
It's perfectly acceptable for a giant anthropomorphic glass pitcher of Kool-Aid to smash through solid bricks without shattering into pieces, but *not* acceptable for him to freeze in space. Okay...
Methinks Linkara should look into the Kenner/Dark Horse Aliens comics. "Hug this!"
Yea surprisingly he hasn't review a Alien or a Predator comic.
Asterix comics are awsome! Maybe do one when you are doing a good comic review.
Love the Hiimdaisy reference on the thumbnail
Well given that one of the writers of The Maxx is the ever talented Alen Moore it would explain why it's complicated and weird.
"we are abunch of nerds"
and damn proud of it
How did you find me?
Was it about magic that none of you people understand?
Why don't you do a top 10 or 5 how image comics universe could have work and the changes they need to do so.
Wow, the Dreamwave Transformers comics sold way more then I would have expected.
And how would shoulder pads apply for FIREARMS? What, are they supposed to help brace against recoil? Then why aren't the guns held in a braced position for those stupid looking pads to work?
2:20 TRIAL OF THE DRAGONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
God bless Ontario laws, proud to be Canadian 😍🇨🇦🤘🏻
Yay! I was one of the people pointing out the use of 1 shoulder pad :D
Also, I'm in Chicago, and with the Comcast package we have, the Naked News is on at like 11pm.
Mark and Donnie were known to work together in the early days of the group, so he could have been a member breifly.
Confusing Previous Statement
I know his brother was and he did help them get their start. So he could have been at the very least.
Who’s brother?
@@ryanangelastro504 Mark Wahlberg's brother. I meant to say I knew of his brother Donnie being part of New Kids On The Block and that the two frequently aided each other when working on music; however I was in a hurry when I wrote the comment. Sorry to make you ask when my simply explaining it in the first place would have worked.
Ah... I love hindsight. Patreon has pretty much neutralized the "I only review bad comics and mostly american superhero ones" argument.
the first computer i think generally considered to count was made in ancient rome which i think calculated the days or something like that ran on complicated gears so the first computers did not use electricity as it was not made yet
Nice video... even though Mark Wahlberg's brother's name is Donnie and not Danny ;^) But you did predict he was going to be called Danny (he plays a character called Danny on the CBS Family Cop Drama 'Blue Bloods'). You see the future!
Gregory House They're all so similar, he could have said Joey and I wouldn't have noticed.
honest shoidingers cat is fairly simple when you get right down too it
the thought test goes like this
shoidinger puts both a bowl of radioactive liquid and a cat into a lead box and seals it
while said cat is seal inside the box it is in a super state where it is both alive and dead until the box is opened fusing both states of the cat into one, either alive or dead
Once again have you seen the animatrix what did you think of the second rennassiance
Who knows what Procrastination lurks in the heart of Linkara .......The Shadow Knows
Ooooh... right. Sorry, I forgot to check the comments on the cat thing. My bad.
Im with you on the swearing thing
