This is what's not being talked about. The emphasis was on the running game. Russell never had any crazy passing attempts. There was not no crazy game plan to get the ball to get open looks for courtland Sutton or Jerry jeudy in the same game. It was usually one receiver had a good game and the running backs either got the pass or got most of the attention of the offense. The games we won Russell had to scramble as a part of the run game. But in today's NFL don't think an adam Trautman is just going to get wide open on a good defense. In the first six games it was teams running game that beat us. Our run game was mediocre high in turnover s and then they told Russell go win it. Sean has been humbling Russell since he got here. He saw his Seattle tape and he said this is who you are and this is who you're not. There was times Russell didn't have over 22 attempts a game. Or had to throw it to the running back because there were no routes open. Other times there was routes open and Russell should have done more presnap. But there's no doubt that he's worth the money. It's just funny to me because if you didn't have Russell you wouldn't even have this record if it was stidham we would be 4 -13. It's amazing to me how after one year you're already trying to restructure his contract. That's crazy when you limited attempts and told him he wasn't who he thought he was.its a lack of respect for Russ absolutely.picture if Sean switch that hate for teaching Russ the short pass game in detail or mid passes w pressure from watching tape it could make all the difference in the world.but most of all u need a te n u need a rb lik miami has.explosive players u cant blame russ when Tom n patrick needed a run game neither was part of run game lik russ was

I can see JJ McCarthy developing into franchise QB. He's been consistent and stable, winning at high levels, a lot to like and an attainable, realistic option moving forward.
The player I'm really excited about in the draft that's off everyone's radar? Luke McCaffrey. Between being a legacy and the fact he fits what Payton does so well, I hope he lands here.
McCaffrey can be an upgrade Taysom Hill. He can play QB, act as a receiver, return balls...he is the versatile "joker" that Payton loves and would be an instant fan favorite
