You have to be OCD to hear the OCD differences. Not enough diff as far as I am concerned. Nobody has them all side by side on a pedal board. You would never know which version somebody was playing...It's a marketing scheme to keep the OCD fresh on the market. If they didn't. The interest in the pedal would go stagnant. So they kick out a new version...That's my thoughts anyhow ! I hear slight differences with them all lined up.
I've had my version 1.4, or maybe it's a 1.3, for years and never really bonded with it. Well, today I threw it back on the board trying to see how close I could get it to the sound of my most used setting on my gray DOD 250. More specifically, a clone of my grey dod 250 that I built as I didn't want to risk damage to my original 78 from use. The clone sounds identical, so I tried to emulate that with the OCD. It took a bit of time and tweaking, but I got it pretty much there! The OCD has so much more gain than the 250, so dialing that back just right is how I got to the sweet spot. Also dialling the tone knob on the OCD, which is a nice feature to have, is crucial to getting the sound I'm used to. There's just something magical in the gray dod 250, that everything else based on that topology hasn't captured. The OCD can get close though. Gonna start playing with the OCD in the 250 clone's place to see how it does. It'll give me a bit more versatility with the tone knob and extra gain on tap, even though I'm not really a high gain player.
I got version 1.2. I really like it. Has a little more vintage vibe to it. Also fixed any bugs that were part of the 1.1 series. I run it with the blues driver through a bassman. It’s the sprinkles on the donut.
There is variation in picking on different models so this is misleading weather intended or not with all do respect. Imean the decreased volume on the 1.7 the picking was ultra delicate and precise. Got to point that out. I still enjoyed the demo.
Instead u r watching utube and getting reeled into some debate with some pedantic, opinionated utuber about some issue so minor, it makes the "nuances" between OCD Versions appear monumental, in comparison. And yes, I am aware of the irony that this is exactly what I have just done! Is my subconscious really THAT averse to simple guitar practice..?! Do we tell ourselves that watching all these guitar related videos is somehow advancing us as muso's, in the stead of actual hard, boring, monotonous, tedius (did i say repetitious?...), time-consuming old school practice?! .... And if so, is this debate itself a parody of itself....am I avoiding practice at this very moment?... Answer: (squeak!) "Yes." * Good old "1st World / White People" problems!!
The difference doesn’t matter if you only focus on theory and not on the actual sound.... Some are brighter and scooped some are more mid focused. In other words some will get lost in a mic but hey it doesn’t matter if your only goal is to play in your bedroom

After going down the rabbit hole a while back, I like the 1.7 best. I’m more into vintage low to mid gain tones.

But 1.1 & 1.2 & 2.0 were consistently my favorites among those, glad mine is a 2.0 🙂
What's that mean, "cleaning the volume guitar"? Turning the guitar volume down to avoid driving the pedal/amp?
