I'd say if they had either turned the tenor down or added some compression to keep his volume from varying so much it would've sounded nearly perfect. That's not the fault of the tenor himself, though, but rather how his mic was mixed. Yeah, he could've tried holding the mic closer and farther away depending on the part of the song, but either way it's more of a mix issue rather than a singing issue. Plus KC Armstrong is way stronger on the low end than Bill Gaither and even somewhat stronger than Gene McDonald (not to say ill of either of them, just making a comparison), so there's pluses and minuses to both renditions.
