Written instructions and more information for Herringbone Stitch are on the blog: theweeklystitch... To bind off with this stitch, check out my video on Twice Knit Knitting
This has got to be the least complicated herringbone stitch i've found so far! :) Thank you! and you can CO any number of stitches, unlike many others that require even number stitches.
Thank you so much! This is so much easier that other videos I watched. I like the fact that it is continental knitting as well. It is not getting me confused since I am a continental knitter. Thanks again.
After having this pattern on my wish list for quite some time, I finally decided to try the pattern for a cushion cover. I tried several different videos that seemed more complicated than was worth it, I came across your tutorial in my saved collection and found it so easy and uncomplicated to learn. Thank you so very much for simplifying a beautiful pattern.
SUPPPER, i am not experience in knitting, daily i want to learn something new, when i saw this video its fabulous ,execellent , very easy to all beginners.thaks for sharing. HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been looking at and trying several others during the day and nothing came out looking like herringbone until yours. I believe it was the knitting through the back loop that made the difference. Most instructions didn't say that.
Finally just got the hang of this after a few failed attempts. Thanks very much! I am a relatively new knitter, and this was not impossible to pick up at all. I failed because my yarn is too fuzzy, and I kept splitting it. But this is now my fourth attempt, and so far so good!
I did a small sample last year via a library book -- 10 months later (seems I only knit during snowy-winter!!) I looked at my unintelligible notes and came to the YouuuuuTuuuuube to relearn. The biggest lesson here is "DO NOT TAKE THE FIRST ANSWER THAT COMES UP"!
very cool looking stitch :) thanks for posting how to do it, i'd heard of it before but just couldn't make sense of it till you showed how, thumbs up!!
I LOVE this! Thani you so much for this great tutorial you really make things so easy to follow and understand. I'm a very visual person and need to learn something visually so that it makes sense :)
If you are knitting in the round what you would do in place of the purl round? Just repeat the knit in the backs? What would happen if you knit through the front like normal?
Hey! I love your videos, and I find your explanation very easy to follow, but I seem to be doing something wrong...my first row sticks out more than the rest, on the first stitch near the point of cast on. I am not an experienced knitter, so I'm going to give it another go, but do you have any idea what could be causing this? Thanks!
Can you add two stitches in this in order to do the slip the first stitch technique? And also, if you don't slip the first stitch, does it curl? Thanks!
Hi! Lovely video. Quick question: how would you do a button hole if you wanted to knit something with just herringbone stitch? Thanks for your help, in advance.
+Ebonyeyed I am guessing you could just do it as you normally would make a button hole; I googled but couldn't find anything specific. You may want to post a question on the forum at knittinghelp.com, someone there may have made something in this stitch with buttons who could offer some advice.
I've seen this stitch the first time... I'm basically a beginner I just know left and right stitches...could I also knit this herringbone stitch with round knitting needles, like when I do a loop scarf? thx :)
Hi, I'm trying to make a baby hat for my newborn using normal 6mm pins. Would this make a good stitch to use for that? If so, how would I go about doing this? :) Thanks!
Ravna Tide Here is the stitch in the round, but this stitch is really thick and dense, and doesn't have much stretch. I don't think it would make a good hat, but that is up to you. You can check Ravelry for a bunch of baby hat patterns. ruclips.net/video/zSFm9RiyRr8/видео.html
I found it to be fine for a hat, and quite stretchy but perhaps thats cos I knitted loosely on smaller size needless knitted very tightly might perhaps be different). So long as you size it correctly it will be fine (obviously, you will need to knit it wider than you would a ribbed hat) Knitting brim upwards would protuce a curled edge, so begin with another stitch for the first 2 rows. Experiment with some little samples.
Very good evening how are you can you tell me with 100 border can we make same design pattern while making sweater plz plz reply back to me as soon as possible coz I want to make for customers , they demand for new design pattern and in next video can you tell me how to make pocket on sweater tkc and good night dear
+Dilara Sendi After you cast on just follow the instructions as shown in the video or the written instructions, which you can find by following the link given in the video description.
You can try adding a border; I like to work a seed stitch border onto things myself ruclips.net/video/9U03kM3xQPc/видео.html Or you can crochet around the finished piece as well if you are a crocheter. Some stitches just want to curl by nature, but borders can help some along with a good blocking.
Not so easy. I got as far as to the end of the first row as the stitches became tighter and tighter towards the end of the row. Pity, it looks like a fun stitch to knit.
This has got to be the least complicated herringbone stitch i've found so far! :) Thank you! and you can CO any number of stitches, unlike many others that require even number stitches.
I love the way you hold the needles and your style of knitting. I hope I can knit like that one day.
A stitch that looks so complicated turns out to be so easy. :) Thanks for showing us how it's done! Love to watch you knit!
Thank you so much! This is so much easier that other videos I watched. I like the fact that it is continental knitting as well. It is not getting me confused since I am a continental knitter. Thanks again.

+Renee Waston you can use it for anything you like. Cowls using this stitch are nice, you could make a scarf, headband, bag - whatever you like.

Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions! I really love this beautiful stitch. 🙂
I like this pattern, thank you for showing this stitch. I have been on the hunt for a interesting stitch for a man's scarf. I think this will work.
This really is a new stitch on me and I am very excited to give it a go.

Nicely put together video! Thank you! I like the way you hold the yarn.
Thanks. I found this much easier to work by knitting loosely on smaller kneedles.
Can’t wait to try this as a scarf ! MAny thanks !
This is awesome. And you are so easy to understand. :]
This version of Herringbone is the most easy to knit. Thanks

If you are knitting in the round what you would do in place of the purl round? Just repeat the knit in the backs? What would happen if you knit through the front like normal?
LOL! I saw that and I came here to learn the stitch cause I don't do well with pictures...but I'll see if I can work it out.
Many thanks, very well explained n simple!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
the yarn is araucania azapa. made in chile. 30% alpaca/45% merino/15% sillk/10% donegal.

That tends to happen, blocking should help. Or you can weave your tail in around it to tighten things up.
Awesome! Didn't know it's too simpl! Thanks!
Can you add two stitches in this in order to do the slip the first stitch technique? And also, if you don't slip the first stitch, does it curl? Thanks!
I think you can slip both the first and last stitch, and it doesn't curl (at least mine didn't)
muy hermoso saludos desde Peru - Cusco
Do you cast on right to this or do a knit stitch row first?
how would you bind off using this stich? or would you do a regular bind off>

I love this!!!
girls do what ever they want. :)
I dropped a few stiches doing this pattern. How do I know what to pick up?
Quick question. Would you typically add two sts for a selvage?
It depends on what the project is and the look you are going for.

What happens if you have an odd number of stitches
You can use any number of stitches for this stitch, it should work out with even or odd numbers.
Me encantó la clase y las agujas también adonde las conseguiré

so cute!! thanks!!
muito legal adorei
Hello, I am a newbie in knitting, and i wonder how im suppose to start my first row . do i start with Herringbone?
+Dilara Sendi After you cast on just follow the instructions as shown in the video or the written instructions, which you can find by following the link given in the video description.
Thanks so much!!!!
I knitted a scarf with it, but it rolls itself in. what to do about it? Can you please help me?
You can try adding a border; I like to work a seed stitch border onto things myself ruclips.net/video/9U03kM3xQPc/видео.html Or you can crochet around the finished piece as well if you are a crocheter. Some stitches just want to curl by nature, but borders can help some along with a good blocking.
