    Great tute! I’ve been on a “knitting hiatus “ and needed a refresher in this stitch. I’m a visual learner and am making a blanket using this herringbone stitch and Lion brand Thick n’ Quick. It’ll be so squishy and cozy too. Im now off to cast on and begin! Thanks. And I’m thrilled to be knitting again after an accident messed up my left hand. I’m going to check out your other tutorials too!

    I started a scalf about a year ago and lost the pattern somewhere and every pattern I've seen since for herringbone has been differant to this and made the back look completely differant from mine, thank you so much for this tutorial as this is the one I had done to start with, I can now finish my scalf

    Y'all, I love RUclips. Wool and the gang is the best and I would never know about them if it wasn't for RUclips. Thanks WATG for these easy tutorials. I want to make something special for a dear friend and your channel has make it a reality. I'm truly grateful. I going to buy the rosewood needles, also. lol

  • @Awkventurer

    Thank you for the simple and easy to understand video! However, why do you take the slip knit over the knit, and then put the right needle back in and then stitch normally? Couldn't you put the yarn around the right needle before putting the slip knit over it and it will have the same effect, instead of going in and then out and then in again?

    • @jadejohnson2247
      @jadejohnson2247 7 лет назад +3

      I was thinking the exact same thing. It seems like it would save time to just wrap the yarn around the needle and then knit the slip stitch.

    When you are first starting this, do you have to cast on any special way beyond making sure there’s an even number? And how do you weave in ends for this stitch? Thanks for the great videos! They’re super helpful!

    • @scrapbookee8647
      @scrapbookee8647 6 лет назад

      I'm a fairly new knitter, but so far weaving in ends is the same on every pattern for me really. Weave in the ends on the wrong side but try to kind of follow the stitches so you can hide the weave in.

  • @funakyytube

    I have to say at 1:20, when she passes the stitch over the end of the right needle only to put the right needle back into the stitch without slipping it, that step is completely useless. All you need to do is skip that completely. Just stick the left needle into that middle stitch like she does and continue at 1:46 by wrapping the yarn around as if to knit...then just continue with the video. I’ve made 35 of these squares to make a blanket and it’s the exact same effect as this, I’m not sure why they added that step in because it’s just time consuming and puts the needle in the exact place it was just in

  • @lyricsdome9142
    @lyricsdome9142 4 года назад

    I have tried to knit this again and again but somehow it is nearly inpossible for me to do this. The weave is so tight with me that I can't force my needle into the loops. I have lost a fingernail because I needed to use so much force. What am I doing wrong? Looking at this you use so little force and it looks easy.

    Why no one shows how to bind off this herringbone stitch? Cause the classic way of binding off knitwise or purlwise does not work to this stitch. It actually ruins the finished piece of work. Is there any other way to bind off this stitch? I have searched and searched and couldn't find anything
