Watching this makes me realize how much a good setter can impact the whole game.
Japan was all over the place, but the moment sekita steps in, it feels like they got their rythmes back.

@@mahalima_atin5597same thoughts on this, esp during the POL match in week 2 when Oya was in during the 3rd set it was evident that he deserves to be in team A with that performance even though he had only practiced in team A for 2 hours for that match. imo miyaura deserves a better second setter
ishikawa, ran takahashi, and nishida get a lot of (well deserved) spotlight. but sekita's by far my favorite player on team japan!! what a beast of a setter, seriously the heart and gel that holds team jp together

I was about to turn off the tv and sleep when cuba reached 14 pts thinking japan is destined to lose this match. So i was surprised when i decided to peek a few minutes later and see that the 5th set reached 20 pts and jaoan was on match point! 😊

Sekita is insanely good at keep the rhythm of Japan. Even if Ran, Ishikawa and Nishida were on court, without Sekita Japan would not be this good. Dude's a beast.

Fukatsu is not a bad setter but Sekita is just a beast. He knows his attackers so well. Their play flows better when Sekita is on the court.

Watching this match literally had me on the edge of my seat! It was such an intense match! Japan had a hard time in this match but they never gave up.
I would also like to commend their tenacity and fighting spirit especially when Cuba was already at match point in the 5th set (14-11) but Japan was able to catch up and win the match! They stayed composed until the very end. Congrats, Japan! And kudos and big respect to Cuba as well! They also did great & worked hard, and even gave the higher rank teams a really hard time in matches. 👏 Great game. ❤

From Japan🇯🇵. It was late at night here, but it was nice to see it in real time. Of course I'm happy that Japan won, but Cuba🇨🇺 also showed a lot of great plays.

Cuba played so well in all the matches they played... mad respect for how both teams played this match...
but the discipline, grit, and tenacity of Japan is truly remarkable, they're shorter playes compared to the opposing team but how they trust each other and you know how hard individual players of Japan worked for it... they became a force to be reckoned with... Taishi Onodera had a truly remarkable performance in this game... Japan never fail to surprise us and always treat us viewers with quality game play. You also did so well Team Cuba, thank you both teams for giving us a great game and letting us enjoy VNL.

鳥肌たった。ブロックの強化もうまくいってるし選手層の厚みもあって悪い流れを断ち切るだけのバリエーションも作れる。ミドルの得点も増えたし守備力が高いので先行されても25点までに追いつける。ブラン監督の地元フランスでメダルを獲得して日本バレーの歴史に新たな1ページを刻んで欲しい。

It might look insane but that's not impressive if you pay attention. Pretty much all men's elite teams actuaions are above 110km/h Cuba was literally spiking and serving some 134 and 136 against Brazil. And there are games where most of the actions are 120. CEV final for example, it was all about over 120 serving and spiking, rarely bellow that.
110-120 is average normal for men. For women it's 70-90.
