yep Joseph Armand Bombardier the Quebecker inventor of the snowmobile understood this in 1936, tracks have the distinct advantage of spreading the weight or pressure of the vehicule over a contact patch 100 of times greater than tires. So for off road or deep snow there is no substitute 😊
what about a pointed nose cone type thing out front that slices thru the snow & at the same time funnels that snow towards the tires to drive up under. I noticed alot of vehicles were pushing snow out front & it was piling up. IDK just a thought
Geeez louise. That day looked like a blast!! Those rigs are wicked. Beautiful weather and scenery. But man. Devons rig. That blown V8, was NASSSTY!!! Looked so much fun!
Sometimes careful finesse gets the job done, and other times just mashing that throttle is the way to go, lol. That was a pretty epic adventure! Drone footage FTW there!
So back in my snow wheelin days you would get that look when the snow shoeiers and skiers would hear n see trucks coming on the road… and now when I see the Yeti tracks you guys leave I get that same feeling they must have had 😊 We would pack the center with snowshoes and shovel when we had steeps and deeps to cross that we knew no one was driving thru … with the occasional winch-a-thon to break trail …cold fun makes the dinner taste better , the beer more refreshing and the warm bed cozier 😊
Your attempt to get to the top reminds me of something that happened here in the UK many years ago. A 4x4 magazine wanted to hold a ‘shoot out’ event with all the most recent makes/models of 4x4. They arranged the event on an estate which had a long grass slope which the vehicles would have to climb. On the day the grass was very wet after rain all the previous night. The estate owner asked his gamekeeper to liaise with the magazine. At the end of the day none of the 4x4s managed to make it to the top but great fun was had by all. The gamekeeper said he needed to get away as he had to go feed the pheasants. He jumped in his series 1 land rover (about 1950s) and drove straight up and over the hill. Hundreds of horsepower forget it.
That is beautiful country to ride sleds in in the winter time too. Grew up down there and Recognize a couple of those rigs, those guys have come a long way and put a lot into those rigs.
Holy frigg buddy, that looks like a fun day! Some of those riggs!!!!! WOW!!!! 11:20 - snowshoes required - HAHAHAHA!!! 35:35 - OUCH - LOL!!! Nice job on filming and editing! Loved it!
So cool to see you wheeling with those guys, I check out Kelowna snow wheeling whenever its posted . So much snow and such awesome rigs, you make it everywhere with the Argo. It's all about the finesse What a blast man🍻
When u bottom out with low air pressure. You already packed the snow behind you, so air the tires up and back up 100 meters. Then air down and hit it at more speed than last try. THAT'S what my army pal would tell ya. He claims to never gotten stuck.
So nice to see you get out here in my back yard. My buddy and I were the first two full size rigs let into the club. It is nice to see so many more in the club now. Most everyone had 44's then I was the first too get the then New 46" claws. Now they are almost all on 54's or 58's. OH WHAT FUN CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.
I've found that in really deep snow speed is best. If you think about it they can run snowmobiles on water. Get going fast enough you'll sort of plane out on top of the snow.
Great video. Each one of those rigs are bad ass in their own right. I'm a little surprised that the green rig that Devin has doesn't have problems breaking parts with all that horsepower. Whoever built that motor used some strong parts. But, the Sherp Argo is the King of any terrain. I'd love to own one. My biggest adventure off roading was back in '98 with a buddy in his Jeep CJ we drove his Jeep, 6 inch lift, 38 inch tires, Detroit lockers, reverse shackkes, hot water exchange for hot showers and doing dishes, electric inverter to run the blender and a hot plate, multi disc CD player, GPS, and more, from San Jose, (Silicon Valley) CA. 2 hours on the freeway to Ice House Road which becomes the beginning of the trail that becomes The Rubicon Trail. We spent 3 days crawling and camping the whole Rubicon all the way to the top where it comes out of the forest at Emerald Bay Lake Tahoe. Then we drove that perfectly built, perfectly performing Jeep two and a half hours back home. Not one problem with that Jeep. Larry had been building Jeeps and crawling the Rubicon for over 10 years by that time. He had already been through the trial and error phase. I couldn't have had a better experience than what we did that weekend.
@@ostacruiser --- We're kinda spoiled here in California as far as amazing natureand the various types of terrain to choose from. It's getting harder to live here because the state government has their head up their asses. Enjoy what we can while we can.
Iv bein up there to that old hotel a couple times... used to get bored n drive kelowna to pentiction on that road. Always wanted to go back just havent done it in a while
Wow, difference between tracks and monster wheels is night and day. The AC did amazingly well and proves once again why every doomsday prepper wants that beast.
Thoughts? Higher wider vehicle with shallow vshaped bottom and small vshaped plow on front high enough for ground clearance but can be used to keep from getting high centered. Vehicle itself with electric motors on all four wheels to avoid needing low hanging suspernsion/driveshaft. Electric being produced by diesel engine for longevity and higher elevations.
Being from kelowna and seeing these guys normally absolutely world class rigs when in the snow or anything else got a truck on 35s hope to play with these guys one day when I can get It done
This is absolute bucket list, dream, trail ride for me. Thank you for taking us along with you. At the very least, I can live vicariously through y'all.
Bought the same drone on your recommendation this past fall. It’s incredible. Managed 6.5kms and back with the standard batter across Manitoba prairie. Can’t wait till summer to try it again with the big batteries that I have now. The flight time is insane with them. Easily over 40 minutes when not in sport mode. Thanks again for the recommendation.
@Mr. Ostacruiser The only thing missing was a Roadrunner horn (Meep meep) for the moments when you were passing those stuck multi hundred HP monsters in slow motion.
The Argo has the close together axles, not quite as close as a Sherpa, but those close together with the large diameter, paddle tread, high flotation tires, makes a big difference in deep snow. Almost as good as wide tracks.
I think even a small V-Plow out front riding on maybe a 10" wheel would help tremendously cause you can have 2,000 HP and it won't matter if your wheels can't grab traction cause your sitting on packed snow or take the 85" tires off the John Deere 962OR or buy some 115" tires just to be sure, but all that matters is it looks like you guys are having a blast doing what ya like and creating some unforgettable fun memories 👍🏻👍🏻I only have 37s on my white diamond edition crew cab that actually came from Canada but I would be able to take it off the trailer and it would be game over for me lol, thanks for sharing and keep pumping our videos👍🏻👍🏻
@@ostacruiser keep up the great work ! I live in NS and we don’t have any snow this year. I have a new Argo with tracks I might have to bring out west just to try it out.

you need snow shoes to walk on that, there is a good radio out there called rugged radio and you can get them for head sets, that is what i recomand for a radio if you are interested

Right on Dave welcome to my neck of the woods. Kelowna is the best for winter excursions. You should look at CR racing they do really good sxs poker run last year thier was over 100+ sxs entries. I thought the point of this was the slow moving fun if they wanted tracks down the should of put some snowmobile riders out front
kept expecting some local to blow past them on a 1980 12 hp skidoo
Factually that would have been a 1966 Olympic Skidoo (12hp) and yes it would have passed these POS easily.@@benson098123
