In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, benches were part of the gardens of noble residences and monasteries. These benches often had decorated carvings and were placed in strategic places that offered a view of the surrounding garden. They were a place for rest as well as reading and meeting.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, benches became popular in park gardens and public spaces. These benches were made of metal and had a romantic and elegant design. Their design and materials have evolved and adapted to current needs. Benches are an integral part of every garden.
