In the original studio recording, the guitar solo can't be heard. In this video, the guitar solo can't be seen! Christopher Cross is totally an amazing guitar player, too! And criminally underrated at that!
Musicians perform these songs so many more times than we ever hear or know, not counting the rehearsals. I love radio versions of songs, too, but it's highly unlikely that they can perform songs exactly the same as the studio recording. And they probably don't want to.
Covid really affected Chris for a long time. I think his motor skills were really bad, and for a while he couldn't even walk. So very glad to see he's recovered from that terrible time and doing well.
Yeah, he ended up getting Guillain-Barre as I recall. The GF and I saw him a year ago at City Winery in NYC. He was clearly a bit frail but he absolutely kicked butt on this song.
Nice to see an old friend Keith Carlock, playing drums for yet another rock legend. Christopher is an incredible songwriter. Great band line up. Cheers!
Saw Keith many times in his early days with Wayne a Krantz before he had really become the go to guy in New York and it was obvious he was destined for great things.
@@TeslaNick2 Yes for sure. These were gigs in Wales, U.K., Wayne used to come over a lot back then and I got to know him. I recall Wayne being so enthusiastic about Keith, who really kicked ass with Tim Lefebvre on bass, although the best gig I saw of theirs was at the Brecon Jazz festival with Paul Sokolow on bass. I also saw the trio with Anthony Jackson on bass and I believe Cliff Almond on drums.
I remember when I lived in Texas, I would drive down country roads with this song blasting while I sang at the top of my lungs! No cares, and no worries! @2:55 was my favorite part of this song. I did get a few odd stares from the horses and cows, but who cares? I had fun! Good times! I am so glad I grew up when I did! Christopher still looks and sounds amazing! True class! I love him! Cheers to my fellow Yacht Rock Radio family! We lived in good times! 🥂
Me and my mom seen Christopher cross last September live in Las Vegas we had front row seats we had a blast seen him Love all of Christopher Cross songs
(For me) This performance goes to the drummer and sound tech!!! Lots and big cymbals in a small room with thousands of watts and driving the whole damn thing like riding motocross to save your life. Live rock at its best. Such a spirit lifter find.
Um verdadeiro espetáculo,!!!!!!! Transcende os tempos,se tornando atual, pois é lindíssima, tem que ter ouvidos sensíveis para admirar tanta beleza!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Incredible solo. I bought this album when i was a teen and listened to this song many times. I only now realize what a great solo he played at the end. Why didnt they show it more clearly. Dude was a killer guitar player.
In the original studio recording, the guitar solo can't be heard. In this video, the guitar solo can't be seen! Christopher Cross is totally an amazing guitar player, too! And criminally underrated at that! (sigh)

Nothing to do with the people holding the cameras, the editor is an idiot. The whole vodeo take is as ugly as can be... The guitar solo is good, more original than the usual ones. to me, he looks and feels bored on this whole take, and happy to leave the stage. I love the song!
Having grown up hearing Christopher's amazing voice & songs at my dad's house through the 80s, I can't help but think of his having severe Covid induced neurological impacts while half our country denied the pandemic, refused masks, etc.. Just sad honestly. I hope you are doing well in your recovery Christopher ! :)
Fantastisch unser Christopher!!
Sirius: "Here comes the guitar solo, let's record every other instrument and even people in the crowd recording the solo on their phones...literally anything but the actual guitar during the solo, got it?"
He doesn't have Michael McDonald in a big arena however he's on a small venue with 3 wonderful back up vocalist s Maybe he's better off God is great everyone
Dear Camera man, what on God's great earth is wrong with you? This is a fantastic guitar solo and you're focusing in on the sax guy who's playing a keyboard part! WTF?
The only problem is I can't see Christopher's finger work performing the guitar solo towards the end. Fantastic otherwise. Great bike riding tune I recite in my head.
50 people holding up their phones and taking the SAME VIDEO as everyone else - diluting their actual experience, by focusing on something no one cares about - welcome to the modern world!!

Seriously! Why cut to the sax player?!
Darn right!
Christopher Cross has been an amazing player for decades. Its a shame he never got his due until recently. Thanks, Rick Beato!
Beato?! hahaha.
Yeah I saw that interview, really good. Chris seems like such a down to earth guy.
Amen to that . . . saw him in concert at the Palladium in London in 1980 and had most of his albums back then . . . great artist.
Another traveler from Beato’s channel.
@tak178 Why would he get it now?
Good to see him back from COVID-19. Almost died.
That's right. Glad he has made it.
One of the greatest guitarists in history. I wish guys like this would quit changing the songs around when they sing them. We love the originals

Keith Carlock is so good. He has this incredibly infectious groove and pocket. Super smooth, laid back but driving at the same time.
Drivin the bus! KC is one of the best! Cheers

Fantastic, the chic backing singers were amazing !
My brother used to jam this album all the time in the early 80's....I can remember dancing to it as a kid!❤👍
A good traveling song for sure back in the days when life was actually a little normal with great music. No computers and great bands.
Keith Carlock and Will Lee laying in down.
Underated singer an beautifull background singers.
*Absolutely amazing, please upload more of this live performance.*
Completely underrated song 😤
Many people werent aware he played the outro guitar solo....no slouch on guitar. I always wished he would extend the last part out.

Yes - Rick Beato has a video on how talented he is.

3:25 the audio guy actually turned the band down considerably so we can hear it now 😂
Nice camera work on the guitar solo. The Bass, Sax and back of people's heads were super entertaining.
I’m so glad he’s still alive I love him. This music is everlasting 🎉🎉❤❤❤ thank you for sharing!

This comment made me laugh so hard. What the heck - he is shredding and the camera guy is no where to be found.
Dude is a great guitar player. Will Lee is in his band very cool.
He definitely has payed the guitbox
Keith Carlock on the drums....WOW!!!
I didn’t recognize him at first…wow.
That is a wonderful performance. I'm glad he's still singing.
Wow! That was great!!! Wish they would have shown Christopher playing the solo, but I love this song!
Awesome song ! how awesome was the Sax and Keyboard . Very cool
Love this older music 🎼 I remember this cassette tape for real!

Wow what a band! Keith Carlock and Will Lee!!!!
What a great tune from a superb artist super live performance.....
Incredible song! Thank you!
Amazing performance!!! Christopher is a beast at harmony composition and guitar playing
It’s amazing how the absence of the legend Michael McDonald changes this song so much
Not one camera shot of him when he soloed except from far away?
Fabulous version of this great song. And....of course Will Lee...
It's so funny to me how every single camera person in existence manages to cut away from the guitarist right at the guitar solo.
Yeah, I reckon too. The gat solo is the icing on the cake and not to be overlooked for sure.
It’s been this way since the internet my friend lol 😂 and I’m 30

DEUS concedeu a Christopher Cross uma voz maravilhosa!
Fantastico Como sempre! E o guitarrista show também! Amo demais! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was expecting to Michael McDonald to appear from nowhere and do the backing vocals.

Whatever he’s paying that bass player, it’s not enough.
Who are the back up singers
Jewelee Peters, Marcia Ramirez and I can't make out the last name.
The third singer is Stephcynie

Why the hell did they show everyone EXCEPT Chris during his still amazing guitar solo? Terrible camera coverage/editing. He deserved better.
How did Will Lee end up on this?
Will Lee!!

Keith Carlock the best drums
Why does the cameraman hate Christopher Cross?
He’s always struggled with pitch and this is no exception. Still love all of his records though.
He has certainly aged a lot since I was a big fan of his fifty years ago.
Focus on the guitar solo, that’s in the memo. I guess the cameraman didn’t get the memo after all. I’m disappointed.
Cross' voice seems a bit weak but all good. Plus this was THE music to bicycle to back in the day.
Please tell the ghost of koko was there with his lucky harpoon. Or at least Hollywood Steve
