Man…. I remember the days when it was 150-200 dilith to 1 zen and there was no dilith sinks. I grinded very hard and made like 2-300 dollars in zen in a very short time. Loved those days
God I’m jealous of that memory
I remember when the dil exchange hit 250 for the first time. I said in a STO Facebook group that it would get to 500 eventually and they should stock up on Zen while it was easy. I got banned from the group a few minutes later for spreading misinformation.
As you said: We need a good Balance. But there was no Balance and Bots ruins every games economy. Thanks to Spencer and his great Videos for showing how bad the situation is/was. I have no problem to spend money in games I like, but I want something in return additionally to ships, like QoL patches, bugfixes and so on.
On my pc the dilth exchange is down ,I can't sell my dilth on there for zen ,I haven't been able to for 2 years now ,and I get no response from anyone about it.
@@neoblackwolf69 for me it works/worked fine the last couple of days or last morning. sometime it is bugged that is not showing anything. just close and reopen the dil exchange window tab.
What?! Kael not knowing what he's talking about? No way man!
That was sarcasm.
Truth it is happening to a lot of players who likes to to event possibilities enjoyment but is not going away😢
Does Kael ever have any idea what he's talking about?
No he's a clueless muppet.
A community manger owns someone an apology.
I am so close to playing again. Thanks for the videos. It seems more interesting than it was 10 years ago.
Cryptic is notorious for not listening to their players when it comes to problems.
So I have mixed feelings on the dilx. As someone who buys things on the exchange, I am excited for the price of zen to go down because it means exchange prices will come down. On the other side, I’m someone who is much more likely to buy dilithium than I am to sell it, so I like to get the most dil for my zen.
It's a real bittersweet moment for me. While it is good to see actual change happening with the Dilex, I can't help to think the only reason why is because of CasualSAB's hard work and reporting. If it wasn't for him, we'd still be having these bot & dilex issues. Say what you want about Kael being "nice", he still brushed it off the problem in the Ten Forward Weekly. That's more of being two-faced than anything else. Why does the community have to constantly brandish the pitchforks and torches to get meaningful changes done?
Could be said about SO many game companies, or just companies in general. They don't really ever TRULY care till someone is knocking at their gates and threatening them with financial or physical harm.
Might I introduce you to an old figure in the gaming industry named Total Biscuit.. sadly he has passed away, but he had a community based around trying to warn people not to pre-order games, not to buy micro transactions in games they were not appropriate for, and not to buy gambling boxes long before it was too late. His biggest focus was not pre-ordering, but all warnings applied.
Players didn't listen and game companies learned they could bend people over at will. So really your answer is gamers now are sleeping in the bed they collectively made. When a community doesn't stand up for itself against a corporation they lose.. every time.
@@erikhawkke4861 I am an old TB fan, was part of his "Let the Brit Drop" outfit in Planetside 2 etc. Miss that man so much, it's a shame there aren't more like him.
@@Lordborgman I can tell ya, his Duty Calls video had me laughin so hard when I first discovered it. It's just a shame I only found out about him so close to.. that time.
Kael’s position is that the community at large is always to blame, no matter how irrefutable the proof that is brought before Cryptic. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about what kind of culture there must be at Cryptic to have this kind of hostile and dismissive attitude towards the community.
I got pissed when they recently ruined the Dil earnings from doing New Romulus daily missions. I 'Saved' getting the rewards until I was completely done so "Bonus'" to Dil would take place I nearly made 8000k more like 73-7400 Dil.. Then I'd travel to Nimbus and do those daily's to push me over the top for slightly over 8k daily. Its alot of work! Especially me who does NOT like to sit around too long. I just wish they'd leave crap alone! They just keep lousing stuff up. Hey man, been watching your video's and I personally thank you for the great tips :) And other players tips too! Thanks guys! Been playing since 2013 and still don't know it all. But you guys help. -Salty Dog/Plasma Jane (Angie)
I like buying the Omega mats. I still have 95 Omega 8x Quality upgrades I crafted back from when you could buy them. Buying the Omega slivers seemed to have been the best bang for your EC. 😉
Though when the Colony holding came out the dil exchange did drop to the 300’s per Zen
Thank you. My issues w/ Cryptic & STO exceed any expectations but this small fix is something, however temporary.
I just completed my first dil to zen conversion in 6 years and it took 20 days. Next one will tell me if it's gotten better.
Sorry I missed the stream. Excellent video and discussion. Thank you. And, thank you for highlighting the credit the Spencer deserves. :)
It's a step in the right direction
Great Content on STO, well done. 🇦🇺👍
I've always thought Craptic liked the dilex being bogged down. Thanks to Spencer, they had their hand forced & finally took action.
yeah i have ignored the dil exchange completely since i started playing years ago cause it was bad then. which makes my dil grind even harder.
I'm a relatively new player, but the 2 week wait-time on the dilithium exchange seems to work for me, as it seems to take me 2 weeks to save up 100k dilithium to exchange for 200 coins at a time. It's a good balance for me, and it is something that I can manage. It means that I can get a cross-faction 3 ship package per year just by playing the game when I can, in addition to the rewards from the yearly campaign. As a F2P player, this isn't a bad deal.
I have had 13K worth of Zen on the dil exchange for weeks now, I used to be able to get that in a couple of days and it was way cheaper, all the botters have done is staved the exchange of all the good items and caused inflated prices by creating artificial shortages, They move all the good items to 3rd party sites for real money or trickle the items back into the exchange at jacked up prices, Its makes the game way harder for F2P players as they are soaking up any Zen that comes into the exchange.
Similar story here. Started at the beginning of September, already had enough Zen to buy the Ferasan Captain in time for the Klingon Recruitment event. I basically put 50-60k in at a time for between 100 and 120 Zen. The first few transactions moved glacially through the system but the recent transactions are moving pretty well, I can definitely still see the issues though. I never use the EC exchange though: anything useful (T5-U upgrade tokens...) is way above F2P cap. Overall, the DilEX is a good idea but they desperately need better oversight on it.
How long to save up for anniversary pack? 😛
We still need an EC listing fee for items on the other exchange. Even if it's just 1%.
The system is being gamed by a handful of people who keep re-listing items at ridiculous prices forever at no cost to themselves.
If you have deep pockets you can price fix any item, buying out every listing below yours, and force anyone who wants it to buy from you.
Yeah, both the community communication and the bot control at Cryptic are suboptimal to say the least. Makes one wonder if they actually profit from the broken state of the ingame economy and thus show little to no initiative on fixing anything.
They'd need at least one dedicated full time employee hunting bots and serving as a liason for the community to report bots to. Because the biggest problem is that bot farms can be exposed the easiest by monitoring the metrics and certain user patterns. Which could also be automated to a certain degree with AI probably.
Nope, lets we all real players Quit playin and let them Bots enjoy their farming?! Wouldn't that be politically correct?! It wud be a Bot paradise! I did Quit playing last year just because of this. To wait more than a month for exchange? No thank you, let em have it
Bots inflate Numbers, which is something anyone looking for investors loves to do. For regular people it seems insane, but half the financial world runs on imaginary Customers, imaginary money you could earn and what have you.
@@Nihilius84 Yeah, but then again, shouldn't in any investor's interest to get the actual uninflated numbers? Considering that intentionally artificially padding your business numbers and making it seem more profitable than it actually is, is a form of fraud? You know, like Twitter did.
@@axelhopfinger533 It's usually wrapped in lots of legalism and fine Print, with varrying degrees of being able to lie like a mofo depending on the Country.
I'm looong time F2P. I rarely use the Dil exchange and by that I mean almost never cos the exchange rate is just ridiculous these days. I remember when you could buy one Zen for about 80 Dil. And I'm pretty sure there are players out there who will remember it being even cheaper.
Yeah, but there were a lot less ways to get dil back then. Contraband was harder to come by too, so the grind was still pretty big.
STU, they are not screaming it from the rooftops because the bots artificially driving up the dilex market was self-serving. It heavily incentivized players to purchase items outright rather than try to grind the dilithium for conversion to zen later on. These bots were doing them a favor so Cryptic and Kael are understandably angry that spencer exposed them. They knew it was going on and the scale of it; yet, they did nothing to mitigate it or stop it.
You know what Stu. I have been a lifetime subscriber player right from the start of STO, yep, you remember when the ground combat was a bit crap!! 🙂
But do you know what! I have never use the dilithium exchange! After watching this video though, it makes me wonder... I have noticed people logging in an out of characters regularly, perhaps every couple of minutes. Some of these I have marked as 'friends'. I've liked this video and subscribed.
Yep Twich drops wouyld be an excellent idea for STO. It's the one thing that's missing!
Oh lastly, for me, and others, I'm assuming 'Spencer' is 'Casual SAB'?
Greast video.
Opened my eyes a great deal!!
Cheers matey
There's a lot of legit reasons someone might be flipping characters rapidly. Such as just turning in DOFF assignments and placing new ones, same with admiralty. I've had times I've run through 20-24 characters in an hour doing stuff like that.
One more thing. If you approach this like a real exchange, the problem is not in the suppliers. Zen is being supplied and there have not been any changes on that side for years. The problem is in the demand side. There's a demand for zen, but the demand for dilithium has turned to near zero in the past years. Therefor, bots will try to turn all their farmed dilitihum into zen, creating this massive backlog. Most people think that cryptic benefits from this low demand for dil, but that is not true. For cryptic to benefit, something needs to change on the supplier side (more people sinking actual money into the game). Cryptic actually benefits from fixing the demand for dilithium because that would cause more people to turn zen into dilithium (the reverse of whats happening now). This also appears to be their conclusion, however, the only problem is that they have no clue how their game works (due to being fed wrong information). They also do not appear to have any clue how exchanges work, so everything they've done so far either only has a temporary effect, no effect, or an actual reverse effect. The phoenix pack was the only thing they came up with that actually worked, but then at some point they decided to introduce mudds (zen) market and put event ships in there instead of in the phoenix pack and so that effect was also reversed (dil demand again turning into zen demand).
Good point.
On PlayStation i don’t remember having a problem like this but when I switched to the pc version I was like what’s wrong with the exchange
For a franchise that is known for having abandoned money in canon, there is a lot talking about money in sto!
I did a live stream over 2 years ago with this issue, When all the Zen was being purchased on the undercut and I predicted then that once all that had gone, The price would end up at the maximum, And this would end up causing inflation over everything else, They buy all the good stuff on the exchange and starve it of the good items causing artificial inflation in the market, while raking it in from selling keys the purchased from farming Zen, trickling in the good items at over inflated prices, So Over the last couple of days have been watching the exchange while live streaming on another platform, Today, several times I watched the exchange jump up 5K at a time and the exchange went up 100K in buy orders in a very short time so somebody was spamming the buy orders with multiple accounts so it's still going on.
Next day and the same thing happened just watched 50K go on in a few mins, Same time of day its like there picking a time they no cryptic might not be watching.
this goes both ways. I wanted a pile of Dil, and had Zen. It's remarkable how fast *those* orders are filled...so fast, in fact, I was curious if Cryptic was filling the orders themselves
Use dilithium for endeavor perks say 300,000 per perk that would help the exchange
with the new event a solo que for SBO is normal only no advanced or elite so that will have a massive effect to the bot farms, lets see what happens once the event is over and the SBO tfo goes back to normal
It was coming down before the event and SB1 is not the only or most popular way of botting.
Anti-cheat is at the player's expense given in most cases its an envasive almost viral/malware type program that can cause harm to players computer and in some countries is very much illegal!
oh and insofar as "anti botting" software goes. They have it, and it blows goats. I was walking around New Romulus a bit and the game kept saying that it had detected a botting pattern and was logging it. I dunno wtf it was detecting, but I had one of the stupid river missions..collect water samples or something, and some kind of random event started with the starfish/octopus things in the river..herd one to mommy or something. as soon as that started, it started bitching that i was botting. Thankfully nothing came of it, but if that's the best "anti botting" they have, they can keep it.
I’m glad between you and Spencer, you finally just said what I have been observing for quite a while now, they prefer a revolving door of new players.
Cryptic, like any other business, values profits the most hence they value new players coming in, playing, spending money, and then moving on.
I would gamble to say, Gambling Lock Boxes and C-Store/Mudd bundles are easier and quicker to make and sell with maximum profits vs New Content (story arcs and new areas) along with those items which would take longer to create and sell.
As long as they sell and us players continue to buy, there will be little incentive to change their model unless their profits drop.
I’ve also noticed like you mentioned, when new content releases there is this presence of a lot more players on PlayStation Console STO in game playing than there normally is.
So seems to me what they don’t realize is there is great potential to have a lot more active players in game more often visiting the store having a chance to spend more money if there was newer content to play in, not just more ships to buy.
13:45 it would have at least helped if the game worked like it was meant to (aka guitar hero) but due to lag it would jump way forward or sometimes start and finish instantly so its not even like you can actually play the game part of the minigame.
100%
I honest to god hate DIL in the game. Its needed for everything, which is just stupid. Especially since if you do the post event missions, you can end up with a lot of unrefined. And you're stuck mostly with 8K+500 if you do the daily mining mission. With the conversion of DIL to Zen being up way too high, I can see why its frustrating for F2P and even some who might spend real money (like myself). The DIL exchange shouldn't be between players, but between players and the system. You grind it out, you refine it, you convert it. It should take you maybe a month to get a 3K Zen ship, not half a year. It should take you nearly all year to maybe save up to buy a legendary package or anniversary package, not several years. Maybe they need to implement that you can't use DIL converted Zen to buy keys, which might put a damper on DIL farmers, since its mostly what they're doing.
On to just having excess unrefined. Why can't it be used for Fleet stuff, or anything in game that doesn't get passed to another character? Why can't you use it for getting ships from the ship vendor? Why can't it be used for using upgrades, especially the non Omega/Phoenix ones, atleast to make them actually worth making and using?
so it will be interesting to see IF (and likely when) it starts going back up the second the event is over and the aka in starbase one goes back to normal.
i mean if the dill exchange starts to go back up when SB1 can be ran on eliet again there can't be any denial that SB1 needs to be fixed to stop afk farming.
Its was after spencer put out the video that I went on the 10 forward stream and pushed Kael to address the botting
the 2.5d combat is actually a thing that hurts sto not having that yaw pitch and role piloting but getting that put in would remove some specializing tree options and favor those players that actually have fast pcs good internet and even harder to get real life pilot skill advantages.
Kudos to Spencer, and you Mc Stu,as well as The Community. Through my time in the game I have met many ex soldiers who love this game, and those who are are Disabled as well as everyday people living with disabilities. Now that things are equal for FTP players with disabilities i'm willing to spend more $ on the game unless I get hit by a meteor
All I want is a solid way to get a Cardassian Keldon-class T6 cruiser without the pointless waste of money and time to acquire keys and lottery roll on Cardassian Prize Boxes :/
11 months later it's still 500:1. It was 100:1 when I started, 250:1 when I stopped - which was well after fleets bases were added.
World of Warships drops Twitch crates for watching WOWS streams, STO needs to do the same, because drawing viewers on Twitch and YT draws players and more players draws more sales.
Another option could be a stream/video view based ingame currency with a store to buy unique items that are bound to account or character.
Agree 100%
You hit on something around the 22 minute mark that I've been saying now for years to the point where I'm almost tired of repeating it haha. Cryptic's monetization strategy is strictly build product -> sell product. I call it "caveman business logic" because it is so rudimentary. What they don't seem to understand is that creating a fun, fair environment in which to actually USE the products they are selling is what would earn them more money and retain players in the long run.
I figured out a fleet member was a bot farmer. I left that fleet. Don't want anything to do with them. They wreck games. I played in the Closed Beta test. I have a couple of short times I didn't play but otherwise, I have played it for 10+years. How is that for longevity? I already sun Casual and have seen that vid. It is eye-opening as to how bad it wrecked the game.
Getting T6 ships for FREE are really difficult
Contact your radio station, they can now embed QR codes in digital broadcasts and it will show up on the screens in the listener's cars.
I've seen bots affect other games also, and basically, STO didn't care that botting was going on, because they were still making money. Now that it has been exposed, they have to do something about it, or they would alienate more players. But, how long have they been saying bots aren't a problem?
Also something to share is that for this upgrade event I bought 100 phoenix box and then I was curious if critical chance play a role so with my main too. She at 64% crit and open them in a social map in space ( fleet holding ) no random stuff and was able to get 2 epic on 300 boxes this was done a second time and still got 2 epic
I'd pay dil for a Particle Stabiliser that I can use to decrease particle collapses in the Junior Officer Appreciation Event. It could also be helpful for Omega Stabilisation by slowing down the last part or something.
That just needs a straight up increase of ones that do something...especially Fed side since there's now several nodes that are inaccessible and you have a pile of people there for it.
@@AzraelThanatos If you mean the ones in the air where there used to be humpback bridges, you can still get them by standing under them.

yeah. Kael really did dismiss Spencer's findings and was very rude about Spencer. not professional at all.
Kael not professional. How shocking. (sarcasm).
I know someone who got banned from the official forum, wasn't even told they were being banned (they were told it was just a suspension but it never expired), and then when they tried to appeal, Kael refused to communicate with them *even after* Support was involved *twice*.
SAB really has done the community a solid!
Do yourself a favor and follow him; his vids are super informative and useful.
Making a link between in-game currency and real money always leads to disaster.
That make sense I was helping a friend in the hospital to get the daily event competed each day and could not operate two computers at the same time and did get a penalty of afk on his toon for 30 minutes might be what they implemented
Ive noticed (dont know if its still a thing) I was running SB1 just to get the daily on my own. It wouldn't auto complete like it used to. The 4 ships you are meant to save all left and that was it. Nothing else happened. Bots are very very unfair to normal players. Especially these days were most people cant just run their computers all day and night.
Ya, i have noticed the same thing the last few days.
@@MCStu I know that bug showed up were it was just spamming BoP over and over again. This was after they fixed that. Wish they would be more public about it so we arent wondering about it unable to plan anything. As I would be so up setting up more dil farmers by buying more character slots and such. When the dil ex is so broken there isn't really any drive to play the game as a regular player.
The stupid thing about SB1 is that if you're just playing the game and go afk and miss the 5 minute cooldown (or however long you have to select your marks) then you don't get any of the dilithium. Not sure about any of the other rewards. You could kill every ship but have to take a phone call on one of the last battleships and when you come back it's like you didn't do the TFO at all. I think it's specific to timing out when tabbed out. If you come back later than 5 minutes and see the loading screen, the rewards will have disappeared into the ether. (Edit: tested and even if you're not tabbed out, if you don't move past the loading screen when returning back to your original map, you don't get the rewards.)
That said I do think the game has been running better lately.
Glad this isnt an issue on console I know we have to wait extra time on new stuff but man as a multi year player i am fine with that
I don't have a problem with spending money on a game. I just have to feel that the devs are putting in the effort to earn my money. I'm not feeling that with STO lately. Last year really drove that feeling home with changes and nerfs that were mostly unnecessary. It actually felt antagonistic.
Maybe this change in the market is an indication of positive incoming change. On the other hand, it is only a single metric of the game's health.
There is also a content famine that plagues the game with repetitious content. You get to a certain point where you realize that you are playing the same content for rewards that help you play the same content over again. Rinse and repeat.
They need to revamp the ship drop and phoenix ship offerings to be a good dill sink. Get t5 ships out of the rare on lock boxes to.
I remember buying the older kelvin connie for 120mil on ps4 years back, those days are long gone lol
I understand selling your dilithium for Zen. But who were the people _buying_ Zen to sell for dilithium! And what are they doing with all that dilithium?
Fleets are probably the biggest thing here. I'm guessing there are some fleet leaders that have enough money to dump into Zen to complete upgrades to holdings. The sheer amount of Dil needed to upgrade is absurd, and the return for investing dilithium is pathetic, which is why they sit unfulfilled so long.
@@Mordakar well if Dil wasn't valuable as a trade-in for Zen, then it's worth would be low enough those fleet queues wouldn't be vacant for long. 😆
Yes, but since the exchange exists, there is no single better alternative for its use, since the items you get directly for refined dilithium are so limited. Zen can be turned into anything, either directly or indirectly. The enormous cost of items in the Z store add to this, in that even if you have deep pockets, it doesn't take long to blast through thousands of Zen.
Dil needs way more. You should be able to turn Dil into old event rewards, and fleets need to offer far more credits for using Dil on them. Two to three times at least.
What does running a STO bot farm get you? (Zen, obviously.) But all you can do with that is get stuff in the game. It's not like you can cash out for real money. Or is there some work around that my naive brain can't fathom?
They buy keys open lockboxes for T6 ship or sell keys for lockbox ships on the exchange and sell them on 3rd party sites, $50 - $200 a ship. Its huge!
@@MCStu (yeah I forgot about lockboxes & keys. Not paid attention to those for years.) 😆 You would think Cryptic _tailored_ their business model for botting and third-party sites. Dil>Zen>keys>lockbox ships>$. No wonder they've done little to nothing to fix the problems. 😆 I wonder what percentage of their income is from that.
I don't think it was in cryptic's interest to fix the dil exchange. They want people to spend real money and what better way to do that then to back log the dil exchange and force f2p players into frustration so that they open their wallets. The only reason they fixed it is because Spencer pointed it out and now a lot of players know about it and were pissed about it. So they were forced to actually fix it.
The main thing with it is that the backlog means that people are paying less when they want to grab dilithium. All of the zen there is already paid for and a lot of people buying it via dilithium isn't likely to be spending that much anyway with the majority of people, and those selling would buy more zen to put into the exchange to get more dilithium
Hey man. I'm watching your videos for a while now. Got a question. Can you do a budget-ish Khopesh build?
And another question. Does tactical team ruin the weapon cycles? I've been hearing/reading rumors, but havent found anything really confirmed.
I think there's an underlying issue. If these bots represent hundreds of accounts, that in turn represent a massive amount of money, what happens if they were to be chased out? How much would STO lose with that income gone?
But if you seek your fill for 450 instead of 500 you can move to the top of the sellers list? So I don’t get why there’s any backlog? Help me out am I wrong?
No that was just me puting in different orders for dil bc I wanted the freaky staff
played since the beta!
If I was cryptic and found bot accounts; I would close them (obviously) and then take all of their Zen and post it on the exchange to relieve some of that surplus dil. Maybe that's what they did and why the surplus is going down so quickly. A two-fold benefit. They're not posting more dil and whatever Zen they had is helping the demand. 😆
Are there any good website resources to learn all the changes in the game. Have a lifetime but haven't played in like 3 years. I'd like to get up to speed.
I appreciate so much what you and CasualSAB have done for the economy with the attention these videos have focused. However, I disagree with you both on one crucial point: The bots only hurt Cryptic, they do not help. Yes, they sell more ZEN, but the gold selling side is selling c-store items much cheaper to players. In big picture, what you have is a player base doing more work for less c-store reward ultimately and profit being shared between gold seller and cryptic. If they get rid of the bots, the players would be forced to obtain c-store items legit and in-game economy functions as intended. CasualSAB argues "metrics" but while bots may temporarily inflate metrics, I'm pretty sure they hurt them long term and that's something cryptic _should_ understand.
I would wager a 1000 keys that most of the bot farmers are either employed by cryptic orchestra cryptic or have cryptic support
Comment of the day. I completely agree, the bots, I think, could have been placed there by Cryptic to shove the exchange queue up, as a deliberate ploy to force players to open their wallets up. Of course, I have no evidence for this, so I could be completely wrong, but it does seem odd that the dil. exchange queue has fallen dramatically, and yet Cryptic haven't said anything about tightening security up and kicking bot farm accounts etc. You would think they'd be shouting about how they had dealt with the matter etc. etc.
I feel sooo disconnected from cryptic, as a player the game feels left to die, harrasment and constant fights get reported all the time yet they take ZERO care, extremly toxic players keep playing and harrasing and one cant do anything, im getting so fing tired of this cryptic behaviour
What has been fixed exactly? Sb1e is only temporarily not available due to the event... The dilex is only temporarily low because sb1e is not available. When the event is over it will go back up. For aslong as cryptic continues to create time gated content, this kind of farming will take place and cryptic has made it very clear they will continue to create time gated content because otherwise people complain that the game is too hard...
But idea 2 let players have the option to turn there character into a bot and let it grind and option to what to grind for and if fleet well hay
Cryptic also win because people cannot get Zen via Dillithium Exchange fast enough (if at all), so most people, who have money, will be either forced to buy Zen to get the new ship (good for Cryptic) or wait it out, and whilst they wait other players (paying) will have the ship engendering ship envy.
STO does have anti-cheat built in, it's just not advertised because if people know what the anti-check measures are up front it helps people avoided them! That said, I'm glad they don't have the so called "anti-cheat" which results in auto-banning from the game, I already have issues where friends who I play with get AFK blocks when they where actually playing.
I didnt know these issues. how low can rats go? any lower than 1 zen = 25dill atm?
1 = 25 is the lowest
If dil is capped at 500, why are the millions of zen not clearing? What are the zen sellers waiting for? It's the highest exchange rate they can get.
There is more dil for sale then needed. zen sellers are not waiting....
@@MCStu Guess I'm a bit confused by what the millions in zen number represents. Is it meant to show the total gold players are sitting on but not putting on the market?
If so, it seems a bit disingenuous for Cryptic to display that number.
You're not looking at zen on sale, that's dil on offer for zen. In other words, there's lots of dil, so zen sellers can insta sell should they wish.
Backlog exists cos there's more dil than zen. So the zen sellers aren't waiting, the ones wanting to sell zen already have sold it
@@nikiong66 Then what is that number? It displays "Available quantity" at bids of 500. 3,068,205 is not evenly divisible by 500. None of the other bids line up with "available quantity" either.
Something is not quiet right in what we get to see on our end. Are there hidden numbers?
For us to get a true picture of the situation, we need to see the entire market, both by listing all the bids, not just the top five, and by showing us the entire pool of available dil.
In other words, I don't necessarily trust Cryptic to manage this and want more transparency, maybe a revamped exchange window with a lot more information.
@marsrock316 it's multiply, not divide. There is that amount of zen. Each zen is sold for 500 dil.
Edit. Actually, after I posted that, I realised you've not used the dil exchange at all. Poser. This is basic stuff.
You can see the difference on ebay and player auctions. Less sellers and less stuff to buy. So definitely less activity.
You could literally do anything else to get Zen faster than grinding dilithium. Work a little longer at work or offer to mow your neighbor's yard for $20. 😆
so what u guys are saying is we should buy a million dil b4 its fixed ;) ?
as free to play i deposited 850k dil on exchange a month or so ago...and it took arround 3-4 weeks before it got exchanged...
6-8 months ago i tried it as well.. i ended up withdrawing the dil after over a month...
Most people don't even know what it was like to play MMO games with zero bots. STO probably had at least some bots from day 1.
They could just lower the dili cap per char. So nobody would have these insane amount to throw them into the exchange. I mean a know a few they hav more then 10 chars and they all capped out on dili
What you cant by omega anymore? I was planing on buying so i get even on all 3.
Nope
@@MCStu Im so sad. I have 7 yellow 9 blue and 9 red left.
Please overlord tell me this is also relevant to consoles. Being able to exchange the dil for coin once more would be glorious!
On consoles the dilex rate isn't capped, so you should have been able to exchange already.
I quit playing because the dil exhange was broken. I used to split. Add some real money and farm out the rest for what i wanted. Rinse and repeat. So they would get money off me on the regular. Once the dil broke and my only way to get what i wanted was to pay full price with real money...i was like no thanks
Spencer did the Lord's work there as they say, and yup Cryptic probably didn't want to have to stop those bots because they did make players spend more cash. STO has bled whales the last few years, I know of a few myself, and I can only imagine the ones that left I didn't know about after those sudden nerfs and tampering in the Mudd's items. I also know of at least one whale who got driven off the game and social media due to harassment, but that isn't exactly Cryptic's fault.
There is a MMO commentator named Josh Stryfe Hays that has done some highly detailed breakdowns of the FTPMMO economic systems and player.. caste systems. Whales and FTP and Gambling and so on. He *was* a long time player of Neverwinter so he is a quite familiar with the foibles of Cryptic.
I had been wonderful why recently the number for dil exchange had been going down.
the few months i've been playing all the zen is 500 dil each. It will take me forever to get what i want...
I just traded 500 zen and got it quickly. What is the amount of zen to dil to where the problem occurs?
Its Dil to Zen. Not Zen to dil. Dil to Zen was taking a month. Its down to a couple of week atm.
The problem is in the other end. If you are trading your dil for zen....
I tried to exchange 150000 dil for zen and the whole dil just up and disappeared now im trying to get ARC to reimberssing me hm
check in the upper right window, your offer should still be up there, there's a cancel button
Technically there's that mobile star trek game too.. i forget what it's called
So if the dil exchange fixed can I go back to pc I gave up when it broke years ago
It was not broken, it just took 3-4 weeks for a dil sell to go through, now it is taking about a week or so.
@@MCStu it’s still not working it still shows zero zen for sale and took me years to sell zen at default price 500
been playing off and on for a few years and the dil exchange has never worked
I've opened almost 400 Phoenix boxes and have never gotten an epic token
I dont see this as the only place you have for Star Trek. Even if you.want to interact with other people, you still have the relatively new TTRPG, as well as games like Attack Wing, Heroclix, Ascendancy, or simply star trek themed third party games like Catan.
And maybe you're like "but I want to play with an online community because a local community is too difficult to find/organize where I am." Which is a fair point, but you still have a bunch of other Star Trek games like Fleet Command, Timelines, Bridge Crew, and more without even getting in to apps like Tabletop Simulator or role20 to participate in the previously mentioned analogue games online.
Saying Star Trek Online is the only game in town only really empowers them in their drive to exploit that among their players. They don't have to give a shit about release schedules or game balance or giving players value for their purchases because they know none of that is drawing people to their game, just the IP.
And it ties with the short term players vs long term players. If you run a tourist trap, you don't care if the local population keeps coming by to see your ever expanding gallery of oddities, because you can just maintain the product you have and attract tourists who will pay the $20 to come in, take a quick look around and then buy some key chains on the way out.
I've never had a problem with the dil exchange, it's always given me my dil with in seconds.
Never a problem trying to buy Dil, just when selling it
