The Crimson Idol ~ W.A.S.P 5. 3 sides to every story ~ Extreme 6. Fear of the Dark ~ Iron Maiden 7. The Ritual ~ Testament 8. Vulgar Display of Power ~ Pantera 9. Dehumanizer ~ Black Sabbath 10. Awesome list dehumaniser is my fav black sabbath album and fear of the dark is so underrated it's is definitely in my top 5 madien albums and countdown to extinction is my number for fav megadeth album but in my opinion the best megadeth album is Youthanasia
Bryce Im just curious. What do you think of Images and Words by Dream Theater or just Dream Theater in general. Good list and I knew what would be number 1 lol.
Two albums that should've at least made the "honorable mention" list (if not the Top 10) for that year: Mother's Finest - Black Radio Won't Play This Record (looking back, might've been one of the most important hard rock/metal releases to have come out within the past 30 years; funk-metal PERFECTION by a truly legendary yet still largely "unsung" band here in the States, PRAYING Rock Candy reissues this one just like they did for their criminally-overlooked 1981 classic 'Iron Age' album a few years back) 24-7 Spyz - Strength In Numbers (actually had this album right at the top of MY Top 10 list for that year, amazing landmark effort by this band and had EastWest label head Sylvia Rhone fully done her job in promoting it upon release it would've achieved multi-platinum status WITHOUT QUESTION; 18,000 CD copies in total sure as hell ain't gonna cut it in that sense, boy did those guys get royally shafted by her back then:::clenching fists in pure anger:::) I agree, 1992 was so damn steeped in quality albums. It was like folks knew the end was nigh and were rushing to get out as much of the good stuff as humanly possible before the door eventually closed on 'em that decade (lol). >;-)
My list: RAGE AGAINST THE MASHINE, Dio, Black Sabbath, Rush, Primus, Metallica, AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Dream Theater, Muse, Queen , LED ZEPPELIN, Beatles, Oasis, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Pradagy, FATH NO MORE, Motly Cru, Arow Smith, ModerHead, IronMaden, JudastPrist, WulfMother, The Wight Stips, The Hives, The RockonTurs, The Rimons, The Clash, HuskurDu, MudHunny, Nirvana, Pantera, TOOL, Mastidon, Megadeath, Antrax, Slayer, KISS, Def Lepord, BeastyBoys. LinkenPark
A Blaze in the Northern Sky- Darkthrone, Nocturnus- Threshold, Pantera- Vulgar, Deicide- Legion, Megadeth- Symphony, Bolt Thrower- The IVth Crusade, Maiden- Fear of the Dark
You mentioned Dirt by Alice in Chains. I just wondered, would you consider AiC metal? I don't think they're easily definable but to me personally they're closer to metal than to whatever grunge is.
As a 22 year old drummer in 1992, my two favorite albums that year were easy and on nobodies list.. not yours, not metal hammer etc.. Fear factory, “Soul of a new machine” and Suicidal Tendencies, “art of rebellion”. First four tracks of FF blew me away.. imo, they were pushing metal in a different direction with that album., revolutionary Suicidal album just has probably best song of year with “nobody hears”. The production is flawless, excellent drums, guitars classic album..
1.Countdown To Extinction 2.The Ritual 3.Fear Of The Dark 4.Dehumanizer 5.Cuatro 6.Force Of Habit 7.Vulgar Display Of Power 8.Dirt 9.Diabolical Full Moon Mysticism 10.Tomb Of The Mutilated
For me, my favourite for 1992 definitely has to be Alice In Chains' Dirt. Rage Against The Machine's debut album is a close second. I would categorize the latter under heavy metal too as it can be considered as rap metal

As a 22 year old drummer in 1992, my two favorite albums that year were easy and on nobodies list.. not yours, not metal hammer etc..
