    My last and only Emergency Brake happened not long after leaving South Gosforth towards the Coast, this was back around 2022 when i had finished college.

    Intresting. When I was younger i used to swing around the emergency pole and this never happened

    I was on one when the emergency brake applied approaching Howdon the driver was approaching the crossing too fast so the overspeed sensors triggered an emergency brake stopped just short of the platform driver had to call the signaler and apologise I think a supervisor/manager joined the train at monument to monitor his driving back to South Gosforth

      It's good they have them systems in place so a driver can't just speed over a crossing!

    Just one thing, on British rolling stock you cant pull the emergency brake, but the passenger alarm or emergency egress (door release) that automatically apply the train brakes which on most sets thus is overridable if need be.

      The metro has a special emergency brake button in every carriage

      With the current metro fleet (which I believe is over 40 years old), there are buttons labelled “emergency brake” at the top of a pole near each set of doors
      The new fleet (which i have no idea when it will begin service), from what i have seen, will have emergency intercoms (with buttons to activate them), and emergency brake handles (it appears they actually are labelled emergency brake)

    If I were in this situation, I would be confused

    • @TWMfan
      @TWMfan  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, most of the passengers were too. The driver didn’t do a good job at announcing it as he just said “emergency button”
