Steve Nash, Canada’s greatest basketball player ever. This speech is loaded with wisdom and humility. Thank you Steve for a memorable career and for inspiring so many.
My guy is John Stockton, but I always liked Steve Nash very much. He was so cool to watch. Every time the Jazz played him I worried that he was going to destroy us.
Steve Nash was such a wonderfully unique basketball player, the ultimate point God, making every teammate around him better, not caring about the stats, only about moving the ball, making the extra pass, finding the open man even before the open man realised it, passing on a shot in order to get a better look, getting to the basket, even if it meant another dozen of stitches and getting knocked onto the hardwood... and yet, he is an even better person, sincere, genuinely caring about others and gladly sharing his wisdom without expecting anything in return. We love and appreciate you and what you represent, Steve! Heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful memories, your contributions will forever be cherished and remembered!
@@aaronmanuel841 What Dirk did in Dallas to me is far more impressive than what Lebron has done in his career. Oh and let's not forget he got robbed in 06 so he should have two rings technically.
THE GREATEST CANADIAN BASKETBALL PLAYER TO EMBRASE THE NBA COURT ... HALL OF FAMER ON AND OF THE COURT... STEVE NASH A WARRIOR ON THE BASKETBALL COURT AND A GREAT PLAYER AND HUMAN BEING ..... THE BASKETBALL WORLD THANKS YOU....hola
I think it's more along the lines of "I was a kid in Canada who started playing late, and just because i transferred to a new school, who got one scholarship offer from an unknown college. This is not a normal path to end up in the HOF".
Captain Canada, 2 time MVP, now HOF. I grew up in Canada the same time as Steve, there was no Raptors or Grizzlies, The NBA highlights on our sports network TSN back then were almost non existent. It was 25 minutes of hockey highlights, maybe 4 minutes of baseball because the Jays were good, and about a minute to show NBA scores and a couple of MJ shots. The only time they actually really showed basketball was during all star weekend and the finals. When he told the story about meeting the Jocks at the new school, and they played basketball, instead of hockey or other sports, that's how it was, there were only the odd kid who liked basketball and usually they had a passion for it. Those kids ended up having close bonds because you would get laughed at for liking basketball over hockey, for idolizing Dr. J, Jordan, and Magic over Gretzky or Patrick Roy. I remember going to the video store and renting Dazzling Dunks and basketball bloopers, and seeing Jordan, Dr. J, Dominique highlights for the first time. Our only access to the NBA was those videos, NBA Superstars 1 and 2. The fact that Steve Nash made it to the HOF, and was a 2 time MVP of the NBA is beyond incredible, not just because of his size but because of where he came from. 6ft tall players from Canada are not supposed to be beating out 7 ft Shaqs for MVP awards in basketball, but somehow Nash accomplished it. The guy deserves all the respect, Congrats.
Also only 11 players in all of NBA history have ever won back to back MVPs. Here is the list: 1)Bill Russell 2)Wilt Chamberlain 3)Kareem Abdul-Jabaar 4)Moses Malone 5)Larry Bird 6)Magic Johnson 7)Michael Jordan 8)Tim Duncan 9)Steve Nash 10)Lebron James 11)Stephen Curry I would say he is in very good company.
Steve Nash brings up a great point and is appreciative for what Michael Finley did for him. Finley allowed Dirk and Nash to surpass him. That's something Carmelo Anthony never let a teammate do.
One of the greatest to ever touch a basketball and I, we, the people who love to watch this guys play the game. Very well deserved. Great job Nash. You’ll forever be missed in Phoenix. Thank you my Steve. Gonna miss watching you play. God bless.
