Steve Nash was such a wonderfully unique basketball player, the ultimate point God, making every teammate around him better, not caring about the stats, only about moving the ball, making the extra pass, finding the open man even before the open man realised it, passing on a shot in order to get a better look, getting to the basket, even if it meant another dozen of stitches and getting knocked onto the hardwood... and yet, he is an even better person, sincere, genuinely caring about others and gladly sharing his wisdom without expecting anything in return. We love and appreciate you and what you represent, Steve! Heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful memories, your contributions will forever be cherished and remembered!

Captain Canada, 2 time MVP, now HOF.
I grew up in Canada the same time as Steve, there was no Raptors or Grizzlies, The NBA highlights on our sports network TSN back then were almost non existent. It was 25 minutes of hockey highlights, maybe 4 minutes of baseball because the Jays were good, and about a minute to show NBA scores and a couple of MJ shots. The only time they actually really showed basketball was during all star weekend and the finals.
When he told the story about meeting the Jocks at the new school, and they played basketball, instead of hockey or other sports, that's how it was, there were only the odd kid who liked basketball and usually they had a passion for it. Those kids ended up having close bonds because you would get laughed at for liking basketball over hockey, for idolizing Dr. J, Jordan, and Magic over Gretzky or Patrick Roy. I remember going to the video store and renting Dazzling Dunks and basketball bloopers, and seeing Jordan, Dr. J, Dominique highlights for the first time. Our only access to the NBA was those videos, NBA Superstars 1 and 2.
The fact that Steve Nash made it to the HOF, and was a 2 time MVP of the NBA is beyond incredible, not just because of his size but because of where he came from. 6ft tall players from Canada are not supposed to be beating out 7 ft Shaqs for MVP awards in basketball, but somehow Nash accomplished it. The guy deserves all the respect, Congrats.

Also only 11 players in all of NBA history have ever won back to back MVPs.

      2)Wilt Chamberlain
      3)Kareem Abdul-Jabaar
      4)Moses Malone
      5)Larry Bird
      6)Magic Johnson
      7)Michael Jordan
      8)Tim Duncan
      9)Steve Nash
      10)Lebron James
      11)Stephen Curry

Year in year out, Terry Porter, Kevin Johnson always outplayed him... KJ was averaging 20-12+ a game. Gary Payton, Tim Hardaway even Penny. Mark Jackson etc... Stockton was never a MVP finalist nor even top-5, every season back then, nobody would have pick Stockton as the best PG of the league... IF you weren't alive back then, dont even dispute that.

Robert Sarver is the reason Phoenix didn’t win a championship during Steve’s prime years, he kept getting in the way of personnel decisions and acquisitions.

Nash is a great guy. A very generous player who preferred getting an assist to hitting his own shot. But you can also notice that he seems lost.

you got that right Nash, if they didn't change them defensive rules in 2004 you would not have been a hall of famer. There's a reason the Mavs got rid of you. Nash was a elite role player b4 2004. Congrats in being in the hall of fame. Even though kevin Johnson should have been in the hall of fame by now.
