    I appreciate you taking the time to show all this, Zach. I don't know if you are familiar with Liam Hoffman. I don't watch TV, but I understand he went on to be a champion on Forged in Fire. Eight years ago, he did an interview with Dave Canterbury, and he talked about how he learned to blacksmith off youtube videos and books, built his own blacksmith shop, and refurbished all the equipment in it. I think he was 19 at the time. You never know who is watching you. There might be young men out there who will be inspired by what you are doing and get into it. I think there are going to be many young men in this generation coming up who are going to remember Covid lockdowns all their lives and never want to be dependent on corporations for their necessities, who will want to use horses and mules rather than depend on corporations that can cut fuel to them at any time. Yeah, I know other aspects of the business require fuel, but the less you need, the less you can be controlled. ruclips.net/video/ZG89HVoA1Zg/видео.html

      Yes ma’am, I do believe folks are wanting a simpler more peaceful way of living. More independence and whatnot for sure. In our case with the way we do things, we def save fuel compared to other operations. I mean, it’s not for everyone. But where ya can make it work, it’s a nice way to log. Thank you for the kind words as always. And words of encouragement. Thank you for always taking time to watch and comment also. Take care and do come again, anytime!

      Yes, sir, it really does. And the main reason I show it… Is because I want people to know and understand that there is a whole lot more to logging with animals then just driving a team. A whole lot more! In fact, driving, the team is one of the smallest parts. Because the team is so efficient! Anyway, thank you, sir for always taking time to watch and comment. And for your words of encouragement. Take care and do come again.

    Good morning Mr. Odom, thank you for taking the time to record this, answering our questions and ofc reminding us of God.
    I have a question, If you had to start your logging business all over again what things would you do different?
    Like would you get a different kind of truck, or different brand of saws. Perhaps you would buy your equipment in different order ect..

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  Месяц назад +1

      Hey, good morning! You’re most welcome. I’m glad ya enjoy the videos. Well, I didn’t rush into it the first time and I think that’s probably most important when starting a business. Take time to learn your area, your markets available to you, and the type of average timber you’re going to be cutting etc. I don’t believe I would do it any different. I started with a pair of horses and a saw basically. Just getting by best I could. Had someone else haul for me, and of course that is its own can of worms. But I kept it simple and built slowly. I added a little here and a little there. And I didn’t have to depend on logging to pay my bills. Until you get a name made for yourself, then it’s hard to depend on it for a living. But start slow, part time, and do what you say you’ll do…and it will build itself over time. I hope this helps answer your question. And thx for asking! I love hearing from you guys in the comments. Thx for taking time to watch and comment. Take care my friend and do come again, please

    Very interesting there is two things I'm going comment on have you ever considered a 12 volt electric winch to pull your wagons in and secondly when I move my line skidder I always back up because when you're backing off you don't see your ramps or tires, driving off and holding your load with the brakes it doesn't send cold chills down your back. Thanks for sharing

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  Месяц назад

      Yeah I’ve considered a winch. And may add one here one of these days. Usually if I’m by myself and don’t have a down grade..I just use the skid steer to put it in. So idk for now. On the backing up, I’ve done it that. But prefer to load forward because most of the weight is on the rear of the machine, plus my implements stay forward. It also keeps the exhaust pipe facing rear wards too. So there’s benefits and drawbacks to both I reckon. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment brother! I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please

    I'm thinking that if you put your binders the other way around, the handles would stick in instead of out. Might be a little more work getting them on, but I know from experience, Tennessee DOT can be real jerks if they want to be. I have five small dents in my drivers door from a trooper knocking on my semi door with his flashlight one night. After that, I refused to stop for the night in Tennessee. (even if it meant going just a little over on my hours)

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  Месяц назад

      Yeah you could do that although with these binders it’d make it hard to get it shut. I am going this week to get me some new ratchet binders and short chains just for hauling this thing. But yeah, I agree with you. They’re not too bad on us usually. But we stay very localized also. Anyway, thank you for taking time to watch and comment. Take care my friend and do come again, please
