    / roestalker One of the group of loads I recently developed for my .308 Win Blaser R8. I used Hornady SST 165gr bullet, CCI200 primers, RWS brass and Vihtavuori N140 powder.
    Most promising was 45gr load and 0.7" group @ 100m which is good enough for me in a hunting rifle.

    Testowanie mojej elaboracji amunicji w sztucerze Blaser R8 .308 Win. Elaboracja oparta na pocisku Hornady SST 165 gr, spłonki CCI200, proch N140 i łuski RWS.
    Najlepsza grupa 0.7" (~2cm) wyszła dla 45gr, co jest w zupełności wystarczające na moje potrzeby łowieckie.

    Very nice group for batch #4, I find that my R8 in 8x57IS really loves factory RWS in the 196gr round nose. Unfortunately, we don't get the RWS centerfire ammo here in the states easily.

    I love your videos! Helped me a lot choosing the right rifle and I just got delivery of my R8 in 308:) I wanted to ask how did you break in your barrel?

    • @RoestalkerCoUk
      @RoestalkerCoUk  5 лет назад

      Glad you like my videos. To be honest, I did not break-in my barrel. I just started shooting, but if you want to just take your cleaning kit to the range and clean the barrel after each shot initially, then after two, three and so on... plenty of info on the web how to do it. I dont think I shoot well enough to see any benefit of this procedure and I needed to zero quick and go out hunting. Good luck with your new rfile

    Load 4 was deffo the best. No were near as much vertical stringing mate. I would recommend load another five up on that and shoot again on clean barrel. I believe the odd ball shot was either error on your part or bad loading?
    Let me know your thoughts.
    All the best J

    Hi there, I have just bought the R8 Professional and reloaded some rounds today to work up the correct load. I full length resize however some of the rounds didn't go off on the first strike to the primer. I remember seeing a video of yours where you had a similar issue. Can you let me know what you did to cure this issue please. Mine is a .243.

    • @RoestalkerCoUk
      @RoestalkerCoUk  6 лет назад

      +Giles Killinger Sounds like you didnt set up your FL die correctly. Think about Blaser action as a semiauto. You have to bump the shoulder of the case back enough and trim your cases so the bolt fully closes every time. I only seen this when I tried neck sizing. Full length sizing fixed it never happened to me since and I shoot thousands of rounds.

      @RoestalkerCoUk  8 лет назад

      +waikarimoana Thanks. Do you find .308 finicky? I always thought it is one of the easiest to reload...

    • @waikarimoana
      @waikarimoana 8 лет назад +1

      Yes we do,they say it is because the short ""Neck"" of a 308 cartridge.For example a 270 Win is much more "forgiving"if you don't give it a right amount of powder,or the right projectiles.
      In short the 270 works reasonably well with most combination of powder,projectiles,primers and so on.
      I am not sure if you do "Neck turning" of your corteges,but it helps for a good accuracy.

    • @RoestalkerCoUk
      @RoestalkerCoUk  8 лет назад

      waikarimoana I never reloaded .270 thanks for the info and no, dont do neck turning maybe something to try in the future

    • @zeissOholic
      @zeissOholic 8 лет назад

      +waikarimoana The .308 is regarded as one of the most accurate centrefire rounds and I've always found it easy to load for and get good groups with it in a variety of rifles.

    • @waikarimoana
      @waikarimoana 8 лет назад

      With all due respect,
      You maybe right,but that is for target shooting and in the control environment,using a rifle made for target shooting with heavy,fluted barrel,and lots of bells and whistle,attached to it,which will be near impossible to carry it around in the hunting situation.
      Have you had a shot with 270 Win or 338 Lapu, Rifles,regardless of the bran, and do the reloading of these calibers, where a one or two grain of powder doesn't make a lot of difference in the accuracy and performance of that rifle.
      In the same situation a .308 would give you a head ache,because you gave it a gain of powder more or less or you used a different brand of Primer.
      And so as we say in Down Under,,different folks different strokes.
      With best regards Tony.

      I dropped a muley at 640 yards using the 165 SST out of a .300 Win Mag. The thing didn't move 5 feet. Won't use it on Elk, but anything mule deer size or smaller makes it a great choice.

    Kolego film jak zwykle super. Tylko ciekawi mnie w jakim kraju strzelałeś, bo ja to się tam nie znam, ale z tego co pamiętam to w Polsce na strzelnicy nie wolno mieć załadowanego magazynka. Tylko ładuje się broń pojedynczo, ewentualnie podpina się magazynek wprowadza się nabój do lufy i przed strzałem magazynek wypina się.

      Jest ok, tani i dosyć dobry. Używałem przez 1-2 sezony, kiedyś 150gr, potem 165gr. Jak ktoś strzela i większość oddaje na skup, to dobry wybór, jak ktoś tak jak ja większość sam zjada, to za bardzo niszczy tusze szczególnie sarny, dlatego już nie używam.

    Are you able to neck size only or do you have to full length resize for the blaser r8

    • @RoestalkerCoUk
      @RoestalkerCoUk  7 лет назад

      +Apex Hunting I am full sizing every time. In my experience you have to bump the shoulder back just a bit to be safe. If you just resize enough for the case to fit the chamber the brass is not worked hard and last long. I can't see the benefit of neck sizing to be honest.
