Foraging & Wood Processing | a REAL day in the life of an off-grid homestead

  • This week on our homestead, we take on a project to expand our solar system and brew up some home-brewed beer! (But we make a HUGE mistake) We build out a 400 watt solar wagon that we will be able to move throughout our property. We then have some fun a brew up a pumpkin coffee ale in the spirit of fall....but it doesn't all go as planned.

Don't attract critters to your compost pile. Build a worm tower for your kitchen scraps from a five gallon bucket in your herb garden. Drill holes around the bottom for the worms to move in and out then bury it about half way down. Add scraps and a lid then wait for the worms to make your compost and loosen the soil at the same time. Good Job.

Nancy and I enjoy watching your videos, we are hoping to find a suitable tract to homestead in TN, we are currently in Va and its become to built up here, we suspect kids have been shooting our livestock in past years at point blank range, powder burns between eyes, We still raised chickens and veggies for awhile. But its time to find country again. It was country here when I was a kid, but looks like only city folks live here now. We don't dislike respectful city folks, but many have no respect for anyone. I like your raised garden beds, have 0 experience with them, we always field grew stuff. I farmed 100's of acres. We had 100 plus cattle and 50 goats, over thousand chickens. We have been selling out trying to get ready to move. So keep doing what you are doing guys, We believe in You! You got this!

I was looking for this comment to see if anybody else had already told them what the Froot Loops smell was. When I was a teen, I went to conservation school which taught us about all kinds of wilderness survival and wild food harvesting and we made sassafras tea. It was delicious. There are many different things you can use the sassafras tree for.

Tennessee here also. Your place looks amazing. I was gonna say you should lookup Goldenrod and the benifits of it. Now is prime time to harvest and you can use the leaves for tea and make tinctures from other parts. My wife is learning about it and picked a lot this weekend. I saw some in your video and it made me think of it.

    • @bjbobbijo5066

Look for the goldenrod spiders. They are beautiful. They turn yellow and white. Yellow while on the golden rod and white when on any near by white flowers. They have a bubble butt, but they aren't big nor tiny. It is hard to find them because they blend in and hide and run off. Golden rod is good for the urinary system acting as a diuretic. It is a food too.

Sassafras smells like cereal. You can make tea from the tree roots. The mushroom compost is very rich and great to mix in with your soil for vegetables. That mushroom compost is actually pastureized horse manure and straw that they put in grow beds to grow mushrooms. I used to buy from Monterey Mushrooms in Loudon,TN all the time. Good luck I enjoy yall's videos

Take 2 longer limbs and like I exhaled over. That's album at height that you needed that. So you're not bending over so much. Then? Take another long one and cut it the same link that you want from tip of your board, your eggs to tip of your eggs. And you put them at tidal at the top and at the bottom of your legs, that way, it stabilizes in the end, and then you take one entire from corner to corner, 1 side and that will stabilize enough, you can lay a log in the top top V of that and touch your wood up without bending over. And hurt me or back.

Matt, Just caught your vid about what you call a tiny home. I am a lifetime student of law and I think the problem is building inspectors can't read law nor do most attorneys have the knowledge of construction enough to evaluate the facts. I don't think your structure qualifies as a removable after reading the laws. Don't get caught up on the cited building codes as you said the county doesn't care. If your "Shed" didn't come with finished interior wall along with pluming or electric installed within those walls none of the definitions of a removable apply to your structure. It is literally saying it is not considered a ready removable! You are allowed to bring in a prebuilt structure dried in. In other words it can have the exterior walls, floor and roof on it along with the windows and doors.
(A structure is not considered a ready-removable, ) and will be considered a one- or two-family dwelling
by the SFMO, if all the following criteria is met:
    1. Only the structure’s exterior walls, floor, and roof systems are constructed off-site and are
constructed in accordance with the 2018 International Residential Code (“IRC”); (These
systems may include exterior components such as doors, windows, exterior wall coverings,
and roofing materials necessary to weatherproof the structure. Bracing may be used for safe
    transport.)
    2. The structure has no electrical or plumbing systems installed at the time of transport;
    3. All structural components are visible at the time of transport; (Interior framing may be
completed prior to transport, so long as all structural components remain visible.)
    4. The structure complies with all inspection, permit, and codes requirements applicable to one and two- family dwellings; and
    5. The structure is placed on a foundation with a sill plate and follows the 2018 IRC R403.1.6
(refer to figure R403.1.3), or the structure is placed on concrete piers, with proper footings in
place, and is anchored in accordance with a registered engineer’s design.

Hi... If your land has been logged, did you make sure they can not come back on the land to log again? ...and YOU OWN the logging rights, along with mineral rights, just in case? Do you have knowledge of Allodial Land Title Rights? RUclips put up one of your videos in front of me and I started watching one and this is my second. Not sure how government is dictating to you. We the People should be dictating to them. IF another corporation is involved is this considered ??? THIS IS ALL MY OPINION.... Please don't get frustrated or mad at me, just asking questions. Have you read The Constitution of the United States, The Bill of Right and The Declaration of Independence. I brushed up on Roberts Rules or Order in case I was forced to go "Courting" in the so called judicial courts "Kangaroo Courts". Research Jordan Maxwell. The Man is no longer with us but LEFT a TON of education, especially regarding government. Please remember, The Constitution of the United States is the "SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND". Not really sure why this video was put in front of me. Perhaps it was this information I was to leave to help you along your journey. Not sure where you are in your journey but I truly hope this all works to your favor as many men have died for America whereby we can LIVE FREE with the Land. Mark with Baker's Green Acres took on the state and helped another farmer NOT related to what you are going through BUT he has knowledge of The Constitution of the United State that just may help you!!!! I will end with this... if this was my land I would be putting up a NO TRESSPASSING SIGN in accordance with TN legislation which by the way ask yourself are these Mandatory, Required, Ordered, Requested, Ordiance, Decee, Recommended, and Compulsory really law... ask yourself are these really law? Remember, The Constitution of the United States is SUPREME LAW of the LAND! My answer, NO but do your own research starting with those 3 documents which I truly feel will EMPOWER YOU against the beast system!!! Start with The Amendments 4th/10th! I truly feel this will really help you in ways maybe you didn't see or read? The government, your state doesn't seems to be educated on their own information and the BAR attorney who works for THE CROWN doesn't represent you but the State, "A Corporation?" ...and from what you have shared is doing it very poorly. I wonder if HIDING information is illegal. If you would have done this where would you be? Seems like the state is trying to profit off their ignorance. PLEASE consider looking up a PRIVATE TRUST and get all you own under it. Get it out of your name!!! NOT LEGAL ADVISE... JUST SAYING ...expressing my opinion! What does BAR really mean?... British yada yada yada???? ...and WHO is their allegiance to? Research "Jordan Maxwell". There are others but start with him. ...and look up Mark with Bakers Green Acres. I am going subscribe to your channel. GOOD LUCK! Sending you high energy vibes.
