The support they couldn't give, he did. He was a sergeant in the Black Watch in WWII. Had grenade shrapnel in his back and I remember the scars being the coolest shit I ever saw. RIP Al Banica.
I was a M2 gunner from ‘05-‘06 for a year and a half in northern Iraq. I have ample experience with the M2 and its effects on various hard and soft targets. An m2 is a big gun, it shoots a ballistic piece of metal, it is not magic and will not damage anything that it does not impart kinetic force to by impacting. Period. If you think it does you misunderstand physics, and have no real world experience. This gentleman may have been a bad mf but he is talking from his fourth point of contact about the lethality of the M2. Now if you DID hit someone with that bullet, they typically died. I never saw anyone survive a 50 hit because the wound depth and channel size was just devastating. I suppose a far extremety hit if quickly tournequetted could be survivable though, I just never saw it.
It doesn't matter the size of the bullet. It has to hit you to hurt you. It's not going to"rip a limb off"is it passes within 6 in of your arm. It must hit you

I remember when i was in airborne and a guy pitched the rangers to me. He said "We are Special Forces but our specialty is invasions. If you need to kill a individual you send a small seal team in but if you want to take a city? You call the rangers." I watched them do drills at Fort Benning and its just another level.
They tried to get me when i was in jump school too bro. I was helping a few of my buddies that graduated a week before me move their stuff to the ranger barracks and we walked down the cadre hallway which unbeknownst to me was not allowed. We got caught by one of the cadre and he ordered us into the front leaning rest position. After yelling for a minute like most drill sergeants do he proceeds to run down the hall at full speed and kick one of my friends in the stomach like he was trying to kick a field goal. 😮 I immediately let him know that i didn't belong there and i was just helping them move in. He told me to get the fuck out of there and...... I DID!!!! As far as their invitation to join the rangers it was a hard NO for me. Much respect to those guys though.

And when the largest amphibious operation in history was launched, it was for all intents and purposes an Army show."
💯 Different tools for different situations. Sometimes you need a scalpel and sometimes you need a sledgehammer. The army rangers have a whole lot more numbers compared to all the other special forces combined. That's part of the reason why you see so many more missions. But it doesn't diminish how awesome they are
Yeah honestly I think it makes his point even more valid. There is no other unit like rangers, rangers operate in a whole different arena for a whole different reason and other units need that at times. Each unit is there for a reason and specializes in certain areas that other units don’t focus specifically on. His point is kind of a blanket statement really, every unit is and should be the best at what they specialize in.

No he’s not. The first lie is that a .50 will rip a limb off of you miss the target. That’s a myth that has been proven wrong countless times. That round will however, rip a limb off if you hit the target, but you have to actually hit the person you’re shooting at. The only thing a near miss from a .50 will do is scare the shit out of you and maybe cause your ears to ring from the supersonic crack of the round passing by your ears. And while you may have felt safe (relatively safe of course) because the 75th was nearby, that doesn’t make them better than any other Special Operations unit as he’s alluding to. In fact, the nature of their mission set and their training pipeline ensures that they are in fact, not more capable than their SOF counterparts such as the Navy SEALS, Special Forces and Marine Raiders (aka MARSOC Marines). That is not to say they are not the best in the world at their jobs, but to say their job and how they conduct operations is not the same as their tier two counterparts. That’s like comparing apples to cars. They are called the premier infantry force for a reason. They’re the infantry on steroids. SF, SEALS and Raiders do not operate as infantrymen. Certain skill sets overlap for sure, but that’s with all tiers of ground combat MOS’s. But they are not the same nor are they comparable. Nothing wrong with having pride in what you’re a part of, but to act like the 75th is above those other SOF units is just disingenuous.
@@caseydelaney9785 two completely different mission sets. Just like I said before, the two can’t compare. That’s like saying the Navy is better than the Coast Guard. By no means did he think or myself think he was apart of this new conversation and breed of Ranger.
To be fair buddy, Rangers back in the 80’s had a totally different mission. In your Dads days their main mission was airport seizures. Hell even when I got in 2007 our mission was different than it is today. Regiment has evolved into pretty much a large tier 1 asset, though not officially. But we were “pulling security” and QRF for Dev and Delta. That evolved into the regiment getting their own targets that compare to a “tier 1 target”. Everyone likes to use these big words and acronyms now days, whatever it’s all one in the same Edit: Just wanted to add, once we went to War in Afghanistan and Iraq everyone’s mission set changed. The Seals, at the time of us being attacked, had World regions specific to each team. Once we were fighting two wars our mission as a whole was Africa and the Middle East, to fight terrorism. Regiment changed massively throughout our war on terror. Military Technology, Weapons, fighting tactics, Combat Medicine and so on advances at an incredible pace. 1 year of War/Combat time is equivalent to 10 years of peace time. He is right about the frequency of combat for rangers. Seals and others playing commando, try to avoid combat except at a specific pre-planned moment that has usually been meticulously planned for. But the people who get the call when something has gone sideways are either the nearest grunt unit, or the Rangers, you are generally set up with a fast way to get into a bad place suddenly and mix it up in unplanned circumstances. That happens a lot in war. I had never heard of the 50 cal taking limbs off with a miss though, presuming that is the weapon he was talking about.

Marines take it and the Army occupies it, you obviously need a history lesson. Marines are the MOST feared branch of the US military hands down and the fact that the Marines aren't even mentioned in this short but you felt the need to bring them up speaks volumes. ARMY...... Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet ! FOH
Marines be meaning whole Battalions when we say that. Not special forces. We have Recon and they mission totally different

When?
When delta is in trouble they call the rangers.
When green berets are in trouble they call the rangers.
When seals are in trouble they call the rangers.
When the rangers are in trouble they call more rangers. ❤
That's only because they operate in larger numbers. Because there are more of them. Because they are less specialized. So it's possible to get more of them trained up and pushed out. It takes forever to train the special people and most will fail out trying anyway. So there are less of those guys.
Yea getting them past the cork on a fork takes awhile😂

It's about time, thank you. Rangers Lead the way!
My dad was a Ranger in the 80s. He died in laughter listening to this one.
Edit: I know it was peacetime and my father only saw combat once. Its just more of him taking pride in old times and understanding how the new generation likes to talk about each other. He laughed, but he quickly moved on with his day. By no means did he think or myself think he was apart of this new conversation and breed of Ranger.
He definitely talking
To be fair buddy, Rangers back in the 80’s had a totally different mission. In your Dads days their main mission was airport seizures. Hell even when I got in 2007 our mission was different than it is today. Regiment has evolved into pretty much a large tier 1 asset, though not officially. But we were “pulling security” and QRF for Dev and Delta. That evolved into the regiment getting their own targets that compare to a “tier 1 target”. Everyone likes to use these big words and acronyms now days, whatever it’s all one in the same
Edit: Just wanted to add, once we went to War in Afghanistan and Iraq everyone’s mission set changed. Looking at kit from 01-07 looks like Stone Age shit. Then we got a little more modern and now the kit that every Ranger is running is space age compared to back then. Pretty incredible actually
Your dad was in a peace time army.
@@f82dotyou really have no clue. Most ops are classified. Look up rangers in Nam. They were the elite or the elite. Look up LRRPS. This is before SEALS and Green Berets. Your on crack if you think a standard ranger is a better operator then tier 1 berets or delta

Respect to the rangers...the motto says it all...
A 50 cal cannot rip limbs off by missing or not touching the target. This has been proven several times. Now if it does hit you, it's taking whatever it hit with it and then some.
Yes it can, the force of a .50 ripping through the air can physically remove chunks of flesh off of you. It can remove a limb for sure, specifically at joints I'd wager.
Not that I have any experience though.
Definitely cannot

Exactly! Why do you think there’s a need for the different spec ops? Think about it. We all have a job to do, do it. No ones better. ( bubble burst)
True...Army Rangers were Saviours of the Elite Forces... They were Expandable but Forgotten at all times.
They aren't saviors. They're the help
Fucks yeah finally a lil damn respect where is our blockbuster at??!
A10 was the unspoken reference
Nobody leaves Delta Force to join the Rangers.
Delta force picks from 75th rangers mostly
@@isaiahvalenzuela1925 I thought so. That is why I think going from Delta to the Rangers would be a step backwards. Not that there is anything wrong with the Rangers.
@@joelex7966 not to be "that guy" 🤓 but I've heard of Unit guys going into the 75th in more senior roles. Most likely to internally assess potential candidates, although I don't know that for a fact. I believe it was a guest on the Shawn Ryan Show that mentioned something similar.
That said, I have heard multiple Unit guys talk about how much they respected the Rangers and their Drive, Aggression, etc.
It's probably a big reason why they recruit from that group.
@@connorbaz5980 I am sure that is true and I have tremendous respect for both Delta and Rangers but I was thinking about a lateral move.
Delta is considered a step up.
Every unit has it's specialty, but at the end of the day, there's one goal, get the mission completed and leave no one behind.

Grandfather, Father and Brother all Seals! ❤❤❤
As a former marine sniper I can assure you that a heavy calibre sniper round will not tear off a limb from a near miss.. and it is extremely rare for rangers to rescue SEALs.. it would almost always be additional SEALs or Marines. Not sure if this is a badly cut interview but if not.. this man is a liar.
I think this guy is a bull shitter, not a real killer. On a side note I don't think any unit is good the government has technology to see through walls radia waves can bounce off walls to get a layout of any building making targets easy to kill and no that technology is not for public use it is considered a pirate radio even those it's not. if our military was that good we would not have drug problems in America. In fact all units are very lazy most are not used because America just bombs everything.
Operation anaconda and operation redwing are two huge missions where rangers bailed out seals again. Marines will not get a qrf call to bail out a Tier 2 force. It will most likely be rangers, a standby tier 2 force or a large force that is nearby with armor and air support.
@@isaiahvalenzuela1925rangers don’t typically bail out tier two or tier one operators. That’s almost always more operators of equal or higher tier, and more than likely PJs. Rangers are usually tasked with keeping OpSec and securing perimeter around the rescue group, be it more SEALs or CAG, etc
@@poseidenforceccj2528 absolutely not. Rangers are the premier direct action force of the army. They’re better at direct action mission than any other organization, team or group. @@chilledsoup5470 and not to crap on his parade but if I remember right with the whole Marcus Luttrell thing, the Rangers had the relatively easy job they extracted Luttrell from a village and not the mountains where the original QRF team was tasked to drop and extract. 160th and the SEALs on QRF lost an entire crew and their passengers to an RPG there and probably because of a mix of the enemy forces being concealed by the trees and the fact they had no gunship support. Rangers had I think 2 AH-64s as escorts. Big difference of advantage when you're being escorted by some of the most advanced and dangerous support weapons in existence.
