I can just picture such dolphin/human bonding being especially obvious in primitive cultures and societies such as the uncharted reaches of Polynesia ... where naked and unafraid natives, otherwise unconstrained by so-called "Civilisation," are on such close and intimate terms among the dolphins. Who, it turns out, find them to be rather wonderful friends and dive mates. And for some reason, the dolphins can't help but have such a closeness with people that no dolphinarium could replicate. It's all so natural, and is essentially enjoyable.
