It's a fun game with hilariously absurd pacing and storytelling that feels like a summary made in 5 minutes by a 9 year old. That of course makes it all the more enjoyable. The controls are quite good for a budget 3d platformer on the psx, the framerate never struggles, harry can leap through canyons like he did in the movies and the graphics for characters are memetastically bad. The game also has excellent atmosphere despite having very little music. What is not so great is the minecart and peacock minigames, those were programmed by satan. If you like what you see here just play the sequel on the psx basically the same game just better in every regard (except for graphics they are still a nightmare).
@@PedroTheParoaria it's actually PS if you want to be super correct about it cause one one revision of the PlayStation has a number attached to it but i'm going to always call it a PSX cause it's a 90'ies console and it's scientifically proven that adding X to anything makes it more radical.
I have one major beef with the sequel that sounds ridiculous, but hear me out: the beans. The fact that they're no longer homogeneous within a level the way they are in this game. Having a designated bean color for each level really added to the atmosphere in my opinion and gave each successive level a unique "flavor"... When you started seeing red beans for the first time, it felt new and exciting. I really missed that in the sequel.
@@nikodem123asdf I'm sure it also colors my opinion that I never actually played Chamber for PSX back in the day. I was playing on PS2 by that point, which was a big step up in terms of graphics, gameplay, exploration... but a big step backward in terms of atmosphere. Very cartoony.
This was at the edge of the start of the end of the PS1's life. While many played the PS1 for some years onwards (those who absolutely could not get their hands on next gen in the early 2000s), this was among the last herd of ittles that came out for it... Stretching the limits almost.
I have successfully relived the frustration of my friend and I spending over an hour trying to incendio the fire seeds and then another two hours trying to catch Malfoy. Thank you for this playthrough. I'll actually get to see what happens next!
You do realize of course, that while you're searching the sloth brains, you could get 30 points for Griffindor, by raising all the Horklumps from the ground and collecting all the candies they reveal....
Yes, i used my PS2 to play the PAL copy of the game, connected PS2 via RGB scart with composite sync to OSSC and set it to line double mode. Then i connected OSSC to DVDO VP30 and set output to 1080p50 and recorded it with elgato capture HD. That's my set up for most old games that run in 288p, for 240p i use line triple mode on the ossc and for 480i/p i set it to passthrough mode instead.
I had the PC version. Didn’t care too much for it, but I loved all the GBC and GBA and Nintendo DS versions. I wish they could be remastered and playable on the Switch.
Why no one ever talk about the strange but adorable Puffskeins during the part when you get the Fire Seeds? They are quite cute. But at the same time, they're a bit of a nuisance, as they never stop following you like a Pokémon once they see you, even after you hit them (I admit, I do that a lot just to slow them down). The one in 44:51 has weird programming that it sees very far and automatically home in to you as it spots you. They sure eat wildly and grow to an insane size (via mere scaling of the model). I know a trick to bypass the level without needing to force them into the vent (defeat them) and then go back to them anytime you want. But Fred and George are crazy for using them as Bludgers. The Puffskeins are absolutely nothing like them and I can't imagine abusing those poor innocent creatures with bats.
It is actually cross for playstation and X for xbox. Playstation uses square, triangle, circle, cross. Doesn't make sense that 3 buttons are a shape and one is a letter. It has always been cross but it really doesn't matter since everyone will understand if you call it X anyway :)
Ironic that i only just realised that the charm for putting fluffy to sleep is in the sequence of a lightening bolt, 20years later i realise. I never finished this game! Got stuck at devils snare part

Man. I loved those first two Harry Potter games as a kid. Memories.
I found the broomstick lessons to be one of the hardest part of playing this game on that system back then.
BEHOLD!! ps1 hagrid in all his memey glory
The best Haggard there was
Watching your longplay’s brings back so many great memories and nostalgia from the PS1 and PS2 era for me 😁 Ty for uploading
Thank you:)
I got this game with the playstation 1 in bundle when i was 8 in 2001. great memories
Me too!!
I have successfully relived the frustration of my friend and I spending over an hour trying to incendio the fire seeds and then another two hours trying to catch Malfoy. Thank you for this playthrough. I'll actually get to see what happens next!
Damn, I remember my 8 years old me stucked at 2:43:57.
I couldn't get closer of this animal.
So many memories ...
This game was awesome
I miss the good ol' days before DLC's and micro-transactions.
I loved this game so much when i grew up

Nice to finally see both PS1 Harry Potter games on the channel. Though i am wondering, how did you record this?
Knowing Niko, he used his original hardware with an upscaler

✨☔love its soundrack

Madam Hooch getting annoyed when you fly too near to her is probably the funniest part of the early game

Is Hagrid usually allowed to take individual students on day trips to Daigon Alley?

I think it's a British thang. Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, cross, Y and zed
The tentacular seeds laugh like Ripper Roo!
Im thinking about getting this game and Im wondering, are the controls good?
It does, the camera is also fine for the most part and the auto jumping is VERY generous. There isn't a gap Harry can't jump across.
Considering the game's age, controls are great 👏
@@sonjahonkamaki1361 yeah it just works like you would expect a ps2 hame to control.
Not sure about the PS1 but the PS2 controls were pretty good for this game
Star Fox Adventures also has automatic jumping.
