Scaletrains has set the bar high for detail on ho scale locomotives. Athearn is always chasing it. Intermountain comes close, but not quite. Bowser and Rapido can contend, but not as much offered. I guess this is why they bought out mth and fox river valley ho models. Scaletrains is the highest standard for ho locomotives on detail.
I am very happy with my NS SD! Admitting a mistake is the first step to correcting it...I appreciate honesty above all, and continuously striving to improve next!
I believe the ones you are referring to are the 8000 class SD40-2s, they were numbered 8000-8099. The 8000s were built to run with the Big Jacks/Centennials at high speeds on trains bound for Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland. They were renumbered to the 3200-3600s by the early 1980s.
Looks great. Please make a Genosese & Wyoming paint scheme option where we can pick a local short line with stickers or something (i.e. Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad aka CORP).
I really wanted two of these in the BN scheme, but after watching a review by Scale Model Trains & Colorado Joint Line, I'll have to pass. You guys got so much right, both in detail and operation, why let a crappy paint job get by?
+Joe Saurina: each locomotive is hand painted and hand assembled from hundreds of parts. Because of this, an issue on one model will most likely not be present on others. The two BN locomotives in this video are from production and do not exhibit the problems noted in the video you noted. In addition, when we fall short of expectations, we work together to find a resolution that works for both the customer and us. Shane
The die-cast couplers in our HO Rivet Counter and Museum Quality models perform flawlessly. The Kit Classics and Operator couplers are designed to work with shorter trains on smaller layouts. This helps keep the model price lower. Shane

The bell is not a steel bell, it's a bronze bell.
The Pre 1980 paint was nicknamed the Fast 40

Please get rid of those couplers!!! I had to replace them...THEY DON'T STAY COUPLE AND THE DON'T LAST LONG ON ANY OF YOUR ENGINES AND ROLLING STOCK!

Haven't had any problems on mine.
My layout is a switching layout and trust me after a few uncoupling they are no good!
@@jacjac5761 It might be your switches, I've had problems with mine at a club layout. When I try them at home they work just fine.
@@RGS25 No sir all my switches are fast track hand made. Trust me those couplers don't work for heavy switching. They ware out too fast.
