One tip is that you can adjust the volume of the spoken directions using the scroll wheel, as long as you do it as the instructions are being spoken. It doesn’t change the volume of other audio.

I looked at this twice and did not see a way to arrange favorites. I would like my sorted even if I had to do it manually. I asked Tesla about this and the person I spoke to didn't know how to do it either. So, what did you see that I didn't? Thanks, Bill

Loved the video and use the navigation pretty frequently so use almost everything you showed but enjoy seeing it explained in such a concise presentation. One feature that Tesla still is missing in the navigation options is avoiding freeways. When I'm in no hurry, I prefer to avoid freeway traffic even if it may take me longer to arrive at my destination. In my hometown, it's not that big of a problem since I know my way around to most places but when I'm on vacation or maybe just on a weekend outing to a large city, I miss the avoid freeway feature that is in my other GPS devices like even my phones google maps. If I plot a destination using my phone avoiding freeways then send it to my car, the car will reroute me to the freeway as it sees it as the fastest way there unless it is really close by anyway. I've tried ignoring the route to stay on surface streets but it becomes even more annoying as it keeps directing me back to the freeway. I know I could probably put in waypoints close enough that it would force avoiding freeways but that would be very labor/time intensive so again annoying. Why they allow avoiding HOV lanes, ferries, and toll roads but not freeways is frustrating when at a vacation spot and learning the new town by actually getting to locations without dealing with freeway traffic...IMHO.

Nice review, I have studied the Nav feature since delivery on Feb 8, 2022. I learned a few new things. I haven't yet worked with waypoints, so that was helpful. For me when in doubt use voice command. While moving, I would rather not try to see details on the screen or touch things (unless on autopilot). I use Nav all the time, even when I know where I am going. This is mostly for confidence building. In the past, I have been on a few "Garmin Adventures" with some bizarre route. No Tesla Nav Adventures so far.

How do I stop the map from zooming out automatically? I have to physically zoom in when I need greater detail and after a few seconds, the map zooms out again to show maybe 50km radius. Also when zoomed in, the map does not track the car, it stays where it was zoomed in to. So I often have to find where I am again, zoom in physically and drag the map to where I am at any given point.

One thing about navigation that doesn't get mentioned, the Tesla system only navigates to places in its data base. So if you send an address from your phone, it often fails, because it cannot find that address. Nor can you navigate to a spot on Earth selected from the Tesla maps, again it selects an address from its data base nearby where you want to go, (which can be hundreds of metres away).

How do I stop the map from zooming out to show the overall route view/ how do I make the nav stay on zoomed in screen? How do I add my own points to the map eg.other network chargers or other places I want to go to? How do I create a single function that allows me to save several functions eg. I always turn off AEB,Lane Keep Assist, Parking sensors alerts and all other alarms and alerts because if I don’t, the car often perceives simple tasks and non dangerous events as eg.head on collisions, rear end shunts and will emergency brake and steer when there is no danger?

New to the Tesla experience. When you want to make a phone call you press the right scroll wheel and can say call (name) and it will call that person.
In my Android phone I have a list of contacts. I have the address included in the contact information. It would be cool if I were able press the right scroll wheel and tell it to navigate to (name in the contact list) which of course would contain their address.
This may already be possible but I haven't figured out how to do it.
If the programmers can find the phone number I would think???? it would possible for them to find the address in a particular contact and navigate to it. 🙂

@@CfTesla While that may be true, the car may have wasted energy preconditioning (heating) the battery in anticipation of charging at that stop, so if the display shows that it’s preconditioning and you don’t intend to stop there, you’ll want to do something to stop it.
I’ve taken a few long road trips in my Model 3, but I can’t recall if I had the problem of it wanting to stop when I didn’t want to. (And with the big version 11.0 update six weeks ago, anything I learned on my travels last summer might not be correct anymore anyway.) Might have to experiment. I suspect that just cancelling the current navigation and navigating to the next town/Supercharger that you do intend to stop at is probably the easiest way.

I know a Maps update is coming soon, but I can confirm the current map as it is displayed on the screen is at least 3 years old. We moved into a new phase of our subdivision over 3 years ago and the maps show our subdivision with just 7 homes, we now have over 35 and our address still does not return as a search result. We have to use the address of the subdivision Club House that has been there for over 20 years and is about 1/2 mile from our home. And I hope they return the SuperCharger button to the main screen there's enough room to add it back to the 3 buttons in that little box. And I hope they include the arrival SOC data in the small step-by-step box, under the ETA, there's room to expand that.

I learnt several things from this video - but will have forgotten them tomorrow.
I can’t help feeling this is all going the wrong way: a UI is supposed to make things easier but remembering hundreds of different things - swipe right for this, press three dots an then press and hold for that - this isn’t for mum driving the kids to school!
Absent real voice recognition - and Tesla’s is pretty bloody awful - menus and sub menus at least take your input towards the setting you want. Remembering dozens of different actions is merely distracting and dangerous when you get them wrong.

    i only liked tesla 25%
ride quality very useless, like the vehicle vibrates for a small bump lol, my mazdacx9 and rav4 are far far better
coming to tesla maps its like 1980 google maps lol
it literally takes atleast 10 years to improve tesla maps for tesla
price of y should be inclusive of all is 40-45k
at 70miles per hour's the whole car shakes and vibrates lol

Kind of a dumb place to shoot a video. Pull into a parking lot!

Despite Tesla being an overall wonderful vehicle, the navigation is very disappointing. Among other things, the most glaring and basic flaw is with the voice command. When telling it to “go home” (or any other variation of the phrase), it never works. I’ve given up on using the voice command for any sort of navigation. And one suggestion to anyone thinking of buying the full self driving: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. It is very lacking and not even close to worth the expensive price tag.

Remember this is just one persons experience. I am many others have a completely different experience. I use voice commands all the time with no issue and would pay for FSD in a heart beat.

    Hi,
Recently my tesla model 3 gps voice stopped talking, it happens when my phone gets connected to the car. I restarted both the phone and car screen but it’s not working. Would appreciate any suggestion! 🥹

Sorry for delay I get hundreds of comments. Dumb question but did you check under the navigation tab to make sure the voice isn't muted? Had that happen to me once and that was the issue. The car sort of took on the settings from the phone.
