i used soundcloud repost for a year now which was always a great distributor. theyre support was a bit whack but it was easy to use. ive just found out that all my music was taken down including songs ive uploaded for other artists. idk if it was because of a specific song or anything or maybe because ive used some youtube beats which i didnt buy the lease for. i know thats not right on my side but hey i‘m an 18 year old artist that still goes to school and not anyone can afford 30$ or more for a beat, and i wasnt making that much profit of it anyways. that shit really makes me think about quitting music cus theres quite literally nothing i can do. the same problems will occur on other distributors and i dont know if i could upload the songs or if i even still got them all. lets pray for me because i really dont wanna quit making music but that shit just demotivates me.

Because it was so easy to distribute songs with Repost by Soundcloud, so many people abused it and released songs of others and claimed the right to it, that's why they got so many bad reviews for Repost by Soundcloud and they had to change the name to Soundcloud for artists and now they have so many crazy restrictions such as requiring a license for release, their customer service is horrible now and it’s so hard to work with them, just switch to another distribution soundcloud is useless now.
@@dufdutdallas8687 Basically, if you get offered a record deal with a major label, United Masters have the right to hold you back from the offer.. they would have to offer you a deal themselves and it won't be as good as the major label deal. On top of that, they can put a 'release from contract' fee on whatever label is interested in you, which could actually put the label off from offering you that deal. Essentially, they can make it hard for you to get snapped up by a major label .
I'm dropping a new vid like this soon, there's another option that doesn't charge annually to keep your releases up and they also have publishing. (CD Baby). Very nice pricing structure.

By the time they respond you forget what the heck the issue was. Terrible customer service is an understatement.

I’m getting exhausted trying to figure out who to go with. Seems like you need a legal team to figure this out. I was going to go with CD baby but they take a percentage!
There are positives and negatives to each. So while they do take a percentage, they have a lot to offer by way of publishing and sync pitches. Some of the competitors don’t take a percentage but don’t offer either of those. But those same competitors will have their own positives like creative tools, courses, or marketing / release strategies.
I have released 2 instrumental albums through onerpm, those two didnt have any major hiccups, just mistakes on my end. However recently, I sent them my newest album, got denied and they linked to a page that had 12+ reasons as to why it could've been denied. None of the reasons clearly match up to why it was denied, So I send them a support ticket asking for the specific reasons the album was denied and they gave me an even longer list of potential reasons????? The most definitive thing said was "upload higher quality music" which Is confusing because this is objectively my most high quality release to date. The mixing/mastering on the other two albums they distributed for me were dogwater and still got accepted, but somehow this one isn't of quality... TLDR. They don't seem to have good user support from my experience. If you have any problems you will have to play guessing games to figure it out. I otherwise like it, but I have not used other distributors so I have no comparisons.
Every music platform. There is none specific to any type of music. You just select whatever genre you are at the time of uploading your song for distribution.
Either one majority of artists will just have music sitting there without listeners. I call these companies warehouse companies. Might as well keep your songs on your computer
you’re essentially telling people to never put out the music they make. If people have no listeners that’s the fault of the musicians for not marketing themselves or finding a fanbase. Hell, this goes for any art form. Painters. Cinematographers. Photographers. They should make art and keep it locked away somewhere to never see the light of day? I disagree.

There is no “best music distribution company” necessarily because each company has unique features that may be super important to some artists and not at all to others. Every artist’s situation is different. Some musicians said about CD B : "BEST: Open to all Distributes to China Distributes to TikTok Reports are clear and intelligible WORST: Takes commission Some upfront fees Some hidden fees No payment splitting No lyrics distribution No (producer) credits distribution" .. I am looking for good distributor tooo. :) so, if you found something ok please share with us ;)

I want to find one with an upfront fee instead of every year so that’s why I’m considering switching to cd baby and they also have lots of deals with other brands too which is great!
That’s never been true for me. If you follow the directions on their website, your release will go out in time. I literally always upload my stuff last minute and it’s always up when I need it to be. Never had to wait longer than a week. I love LANDR. And I don’t say that just because they’ve sponsored a few of my videos. I genuinely love the company.

You do a 4 week release if you want to capitalize on Spotify playlisting opportunities. So upload the song 4 weeks in advance of the date you want it to appear on streaming platforms.
If you’re referring to the number I have in some of my video descriptions, I don’t take calls at that number. Only texts. And because it’s not a conventional phone plan, I only get a certain amount of texts per month.

I think LANDR is the best option. They dont take a cut, you can upload as much as you want, and your music stays up even when you stop paying.
Plus they have a lot of really awesome tools (instruments and plugins) for creation
