I didn't mentioning it in the video, but this deck also works really well in the Ex-Zero festival currently running. Just replace the Pot of Extravagance. I personally went with 2 Honest and a 3rd copy of the Metaphys continuous trap, but just about any tech card will do the trick.
Out of curiosity, is it possible to run allure of darkness in this deck as well? Since most are light monsters that want to get banished, the likelihood of drawing a dark is low and will banish whatever is still in the hand and even if you manage to banish a necroface, its still a win right?

gotta mention prufinesse, the tactical trapper, as a budget lupin, on summon banish a trap from the deck, so you banish ascension, ascension gets you asymmetaphys and you banish the monster in your hand that you wanted to banish with lupin, at the same time drawing a card, and if destroyed you can recover the ascension you banished and you get to either use it if you want or banish it again another turn
I originally had a bunch of non-budget options, including him, but looking at previous videos, most people didn't stick around for the non-budget options.
So glad to see this vid. I've been playing Metaphys in Master Duel for a while now, and frankly it can be absolutely hilarious. My favorite opener when I can get it is Lupine banish 2 Necroface, hopefully hitting the third. I've had more than one person just immediately scoop once that resolves. Turns out most people don't appreciate having half their deck banished.
Minor additional cards to include: Nemeses Keystone and Giant Rex are really cool options for any version of metaphys which wants to use the Extra Deck, since together with Dimensional Fissure they form an infinite loop of Link material. These are especially good with I:P Masquerena since they can loop it back into the extra deck while also looping the bodies again on the opponent's turn.
Haha, I’ve been playing metaphys in the ex-zero event for fun and then I see this and went “well what a time joe” your build is different then mine of course since I have no extra deck. But I am glad to see the ratios I have with the metaphys cards lines up with what you think is optimal in your build here. (P.S. Konami really needs to give metaphys a better boss monster then executor! Daedalus may as well be the boss monster of the deck)
I'm just wanting another in theme normal summon other than Ragnarok. Lupine is cool but I like having things I can summon off of Decoy or do something when banished
I started using this last night for the event and from 2,000 tokens I'm at 20k tokens now, never been so motivated to play an event till I get the title. I only replaced the pot with imperm to stand a chance against floow deck (Daedalus can't banish them because they're normal/tributed summon). I got deck out wins too because they played pot of desires on their turn and on my turn I hit 2-3 necroface with ragnarok or the gold sarc necroface. I also love it when the eldlich player scoops after a banish all their golden lords with daedalus.
I love these budget build videos! If I may make some suggestions: Ancient warriors have some spiffy cards including Guan, a cyber-dragon like 25K body that pops a monster if they have more than you. Psy-frames have just a single limited UR and 2 SRs.
I have some suggestions who are interested into investing some tech cards or future plays. Nemeses Corridor is very good card for this deck. Its free body and free access to Thunder Dragon Colossus. It really carries your turn 1 If you open it. You can recover banished Necroface and normal summon it for big dmg or banish it again. Stardust charge warrior for extra deck is also another good option. R rarity card that lets you draw a card when its synchro summoned. Heavenly dragon circle works wonders. Tribute any wyrm to add metaphys ragnarok or whatever wyrm you need. Also Metaphys Decoy dragon can summon cards from graveyard, another good synergy. You can also put some tenyi cards. Vishuda and ashuna is very good for this deck. Improves the grind game. Also there is a normal Metaphys card, Metaphys armed dragon. You can use it to bridge two archetypes. At last, If you are looking for payoff boss monster add Archnemeses Protos. With tenyi and Nemeses Corridor, you will have enough attributes to summon it, nuking the field and locking your oppoment from special summoning cards with declared attribute.
The only down side to Nemeses Corridor is I am bad at Yugioh, and keep cycling my starters back into the deck Turn 1 for that sweet sweet 1900 body and nothing else. Otherwise, super great recovery option.
my friend has played this deck for years but plays it with soul absorption so he can loop to have 20k+ life points making it annoying to kill him. it's really fun to play against sometimes. I wonder what the deck would be like with thunder dragons?
I'm a metaphys main I got to diamond using it you can add another free flood gate "summoning curse" you to can benefit from it by banishing from your hand when you special summon monster.
I will definitely keep this in mind, I love quirky decks though I am currently saving as many resources as I can for when they finally add Dinomorphias into the game.
Hello! Not sure if this is a novel idea to suggest, but in case budget decks are hard to find, I would like to provide fuel for this series as I like your explanations and think it's fun to watch. I think True Draco is a really solid budget deck because the "must runs" are all SRs at worst. You run Dinomight and Diagram, which makes for 4 SRs. And that's it. The rest is generic stuff (the generic stuff still being SR and not UR) or N/R. The good generic cards include March of the Monarchs (having no ED also means you save approximately 3 kidneys), Pot of Duality, Card of Demise, and more or less whatever else you have laying around that draws cards, like Into the Void. Another good one is Solemn Judgment, which is a UR but sort of neat because you get it in a bundle, same goes for L Storm. So, if we're in need of budget decks, I think True Draco is a solid candidate. It's also pretty powerful and can win games pretty reliably until you get into the proper high ranks because it's just difficult to interact with and consistent. Another deck, which I have not looked at really but know is cheap, is Tindangle. Their link is their only UR and that's it. Now, as far as I know, Tindangles are bad and do not do much at all except in... 60 card piles with grass and so on. But maybe it's playable pure? Tri-Brigade Zoodiac is at pretty much full power with 3 URs (not counting Zeus). 2 Shuraig, 1 Drident, everything else is low rarity. I don't think I'd call this necessarily "budget" but it may be if cutting a Shuraig leaves the deck in a playable state, as it'd be on only 2 URs. And as far as I know, cutting a Shuraig does leave the deck in a playable state. Pure Tenyi is really fun and silly, the main+extra deck being 19 (minimum) and 6 (minimum) cards respectively, none of which are URs. Running some Nemeses cards (yes, including Archnemeses Protoss as the 1 allowed UR, and Thunder Dragon Colossus if you are stretching to 2 URs) lets the deck be surprisingly competent. Funny techs include the Tenyi trap and running the BEWD Ultimate fusion monster, Mare Mare, Parallel eXceed, Destrudo, and because Tenyis do not use a normal, potentially Aleister. There's also a whole bunch of levels of Synchros you can go into, and the toolbox there is pretty strong. The deck is relatively simple, but I think it's a really fun type of simple where you use a toolbox of dudes to out boards. Phantasm Spiral is cute but as far as I know other Yugitubers have already made videos on it being a budget option (MBT, I think). But maybe I am getting that wrong. Pure Prank-Kids as far as I know has only 2 URs, but I don't know much about how the deck functions. Unchained can be built in a very cheap way, and also has some funny techs like Dark Spirit of Banishment and Dark Spirit of Malice. If you only have 1 UR, you probably want to go for the Unchained link 4, but if you're stretching to 2, Unicorn may be very well worth running. You can slam in some Kaijus, some general non-UR good stuff, and it's playable.
glad to see this, i needed to complete the special summon mission and needed a fun deck to get that EX-deck title other than Phantasm Spiral also personally a favorite deck, EVERY FRIEND OF MINE COWERS AT THE THOUGHT OF STANDBY PHASE NOW
One card you might have missed was Prufinesse, the Tactical Trapper. He banishes 1 trap from the deck on normal summon. One of the metaphys traps searches on banish so he's essentially stratos in the deck. He also can banish them from grave if your trap end up there and floats into a banished trap. He's basically built for the deck and he's a rare in MD

Update: I took all the monsters to 2-of and plugged in the Adventure Engine. My winrate has spiked, mainly from all the people who scoop the second I play Water Enchantress.
Important thing to note about Honest. That card is in the Rage of Cipher Structure so if you want to add it as a tech card it only costs 1500 gems. To be fair that is probably the worst Structure unless you happen to be building Dragon Link or Galaxy-Eyes, and Galaxy-Eyes really only needs 1 of them. Still you'll will get Galaxy Cyclone and if you're new and need more spell trap removal than just MST and the Lightning Storm from the bundle, that card is solid.

You can run 1 Nepthys, 1 Daedalus, 1 Tyrant Dragon, 1 Taia, 2 O- Lion, 1 Jet Synchron, 2 Chiwen, 2 or 3 Halqifibrax Engines (so basically Halqdon Turbo), go into Denglong off of Auroradon into O-Lion, mill Daedalus to make Denglong Level 7 and use it + Token for Baroness, float into Chiwen to go into Yazi, destroy Yazi with Baroness to float into Taia, then Taia banish Daedalus so yo get your engine going during your opponent's SP with a field of Protos + Baroness + Chixiao (if you already have those URs, of course).
Also, addendum: In that first duel I would've also summoned Nephthys as banishing all their monsters would've already be done by Di-Fi But that is just personal preference :)
That's it really. The version I use just replaces Extravagance with two copies of Honest and a third copy of the trap, which is really good in the flunder matchup.
You'd think that, but the matchup is pretty even. If they hit you with D-Shifter it just makes you more powerful lol. The continuous trap can deal with their spells pretty effectively. Your continuous spell deals with Pengu by shifting it to defense and lowering it's stats. You have searchable normal summons that can beat over the Barrier Statue. The only thing they have that can really hurt you is Raiza, and if you banish their one copy with Necroface, or walk over it with Tyrant Dragon, they can't really do much against you.
I find that this deck actually has a pretty decent Floo matchup. If you get the trap online you can banish their spells and traps. And the only things that can really hurt you is Raiza, so if you banish their one copy with Necroface or run over it with Tyrant Dragon, they have limited options for dealing with you.
I didn't mentioning it in the video, but this deck also works really well in the Ex-Zero festival currently running.

Other than that, no. Lancea shuts down the deck for a turn.
So I heard this was killing the current event. Outside of removing the extra deck what other changes do you recommend for the event?
That's it really. The version I use just replaces Extravagance with two copies of Honest and a third copy of the trap, which is really good in the flunder matchup.
I wish this worked with Horus
I used this deck irl and made a d/d/d player banish his entire deck XD. It's a good deck but a slow one(and is weak to interruption)
Isn't the Deck awfull in the Meta with Floowandereeze as the most played Deck?
You'd think that, but the matchup is pretty even.
If they hit you with D-Shifter it just makes you more powerful lol.
The continuous trap can deal with their spells pretty effectively.
Your continuous spell deals with Pengu by shifting it to defense and lowering it's stats.
You have searchable normal summons that can beat over the Barrier Statue.
The only thing they have that can really hurt you is Raiza, and if you banish their one copy with Necroface, or walk over it with Tyrant Dragon, they can't really do much against you.
Day after this dropped I found a Metaphys player on Master Duel extra zero XD
Floo cards are happy to be banished so maybe wait for the meta to die down or be a gigachad and just play this.
I find that this deck actually has a pretty decent Floo matchup. If you get the trap online you can banish their spells and traps. And the only things that can really hurt you is Raiza, so if you banish their one copy with Necroface or run over it with Tyrant Dragon, they have limited options for dealing with you.
Metaphys best deck
I wish
metaphys butt! ha gottoms!
I'm glad I watched and built this, because this deck is sick. I've only played a few games with it so far but all of the games have been really fun.
