54:42 For some context, Heimdall can read others' immediate intentions, it's how he's so good at dodging. Notice how Thor wanted him to read his intentions here, and he quickly glanced down. Thor was looking at Atreus' arrow, which Heimdall was holding at the time. Thor's intention was so disgusting that Heimdall surrendered almost immediately, and threw down the arrow. Basically, Thor wanted to shove that arrow up Heimdall's "asgard" if ya catch my meaning. That's why he called him a "sick man". Thor nasty.
@@the_man_you_have_searched_for From what I could infer, he was probably reminiscing the brutal ways he annihilated his home-pantheon since he was so consumed with rage.
what i dont understand is, how would thor be able to even catch heimdall.. heimdall even said it himself " and how are you want to stop me? " so yeah i dont know if thor can just grap the arrow and shove it up heimdalls bum like that ^^
55:06 that part where odin is finessing the boi is so amazing to see because in the span of like 5-10 mins odin uses every trick in a manipulators book to get on atreus's good side -teleports him where he knows hiemdall will find him (the mind reader who hates any and all threats to asgard and will prod at the boi whenever he gets the chance) which acts as a juxtaposition where odin gets to act all friendly and through that helps lowers atreus's guard little by little -the humor, the charm the gifts and knowing that atreus loves reading and always wants to learn more as a way to soften him up more -finally the rift and the promise that they can *both* get what they want in the end with nobody getting hurt (the greatest lie odin can tell the boi) are all fitted into such a compact scene that both atreus and us controlling the boi *want* to hope atreus is right and hope this can end peacefully but as was the case in 1930's europe and here in the 9 realms there are just some people that cannot be reasoned with or appeased I personally believe that given odins track record the moment he got what he wanted out of atreus he would have offed him with no hesitation same as he did with groa
Also Atreus being forced to climb the wall gives him a false sense of "I've come _this_ far, can't turn back now" 100% Atreus would be put in a cage as his live-in Jotnar-interpreter
It's honestly spooky how effective Odin's manipulation is. We know from preceding events that he's absolutely not trustworthy, but his warm words, witty humor and general "kind grandpa" demeanor are just so disarming I find myself warming up to him even though I know I probably shouldn't. Also it's a bit scary how well he reads Atreus and how quickly he figures out exactly which strings to pull to draw him in like a fish on a hook.
1:49:20 nightstand isnt a portal lol.. probably dont remember, but in the last game, Kratos tells Atreus that he made two identical knives when he was a baby.. one that Atreus has, and one that Kratos has.. Was just a clever way to connect the scenes (since the camera never cuts).
1:49:48 remeber in the first game when Atreus broke his mothers knife to save Kratos? And then Kratos told him that at his birth Kratos made two knives, one for himself and the other for the boy, when he was ready. And gave him that knife. So it's not a teleporting barrel, it's just a cinematic transition with two identical knives. In other words, you are being silly😝
Odin? Manipulate people? He would never! I can't believe you would think such a thing. It's everyone else that's lying! Thanks for yet another great video. I'm excited for more as always.
Only just recently came back across your channel, I'm so glad you're still the same happy vibes Tofu as you always were :) Keep it up, you're doing great! Glad i came back too and hoping I'll stick around some more again
01:49:48 emmm. noooo... barrel not portal :) They both have their own identical knives (kinda). In 2018, Kratos gave Atreus his new knife after he used his mom's knife to stab Modi in the neck. It went over the cliff with Modi's body. He explained that when Atreus was born, he forged them using metals from his homeland and metals from Midgard. They don't have any special powers (that we know of) but they serve as symbol of their connection to each other. That scene was just a nice transition from Atreus to Kratos.
You got everything right, except he knife was given to Atreus after losing his mother's knife to a trap/puzzle in Tyr's vault. He actually used the knife of mixed metals to stab Modi, saying "This is a much better knife than Mother's." before kicking him over the cliff.
@@thedailybullshit4033 I was skeptical until I read that line of dialog and then that scene came flooding back to me. You're right. Thanks for the correction.
Another holiday, another Tofu video. I don't know if you're doing this intentionally, but I'm kinda digging it. Adds a nice little festive touch to the mix. It's not a basket full of candy, but it's a plenty sweet gift just the same. :Ρ Not gonna lie, I've been looking forward to seeing your reaction to Atreus' climb, you being a pro and all. I still can't believe he had to go all that way with no AC or hipster music. Those Aesir are so rude. Had a feeling you'd appreciate the little details with his hands, and I think I must've stopped to enjoy the view just as many times as you did. You know I love hearing your thoughts on character psychology, and I couldn't help but nod along throughout your all-too-accurate analysis of Odin. And the breakdown of Thor's tattoos as they relate to his self image? Your insight on Thor and Sif's relationship with Thrud? Excellent. "I'm being manipulated and I _like_ it!" was too funny, and the way your face lit up at the slightest _hint_ of a shiptease brought me the biggest smile. lol You may have felt more vulnerable as Atreus, but it definitely wasn't reflected in your gameplay. You handled all of the combat this time around really well, from the wights in the woods, to all the Muspelheim mobs. All around great episode, Tofu!
“i’m being manipulated, and i LIKE it!” 1:14:07 Tofu, I felt the EXACT SAME WAY. I’m actually doing my first play-through right now as well. Though i’ve seen most of the goodies already (no spoileys), it’s crazy how much the writers and actor butter you up to actually feeling the idea of LIKING to work with Odin. Such masterful acting and storytelling.
heartbreaking hearing about your past relationships (and sadly relatable) but definitely gives an insightful perspective into the character dynamics. Enjoying this series
Really enjoying your playthrough! The entire section after first meeting Odin is such a masterclass in how to manipulate people - not a single thing Odin says or does in front of Atreus is by accident. From dismissing Heimdall to forming an "in group" ("they don't think - we do") with him - Odin seemingly is giving him everything he was missing in his relationship with the others. It perfectly illustrates just how much Atreus is out of his depth when it comes to Odin. Odin manipulates on a level so far beyond that he subdued the nine realms by those means (mostly). And Atreus thinks he can slip his agenda by him...
I loved the sections with Atreus; the whole time in Muspelheim with Thor had me on edge and Odin really does have me going "huh maybe he's not so bad" even though we've spent countless hours with Baldur, Freya, Mimir and Tyr being living examples of how his behaviour hurts those around him
This series was just so god. Its insane how many small bits of story i missed the first play through, or just did not realize how well everything was lined out for the story as a whole. This is going to make an excellent tv series. Really hope they hire back Christopher Judge to be Kratos.
Wow, so I really called your reaction to Odin perfectly, huh? Even down to your reasoning for falling for it 😂 also love that I could see the exact moment the Atreus/Baldur comparison seed was planted too. I forgot how much i missed you playing GOW; this was a really good video. Until the next one ❤
Well this video was a nice surprise for my Easter Sunday 😊 I'm sure someones already explained this in the comments somewhere but on the off chance you're still confused about the knife thing, I'll elaborate. In the last game Kratos said he forged two knives when he came to these lands, one for himself and one for Atreus for when he was ready. So what you seeing in this scene is Atreus putting down his knife on a barrel and then Kratos picking up his own. A good excuse for a fancy transition from one scene to another if ever I saw one. Also I'm happy to see someone else agree that Loki and Thrud would make an interesting couple. Anyway, I loved the video, I look forward to the next one and on a more personal note, I hope you're enjoying your weekend😁
I like the slight difference in how the Kratos gang refer to all their gear as "made by Sindri" or "crafted by the gods of Olympus" making sure to shout out the people before them who contributed to their lives; while all the Odinssons only give credit to Odin "All-Father gave it to me" "a gift from Odin himself", never taking a moment to acknowledge the dwarves or giants that Odin got it from
Queen Tofu is here. THE.....QUEEN....IS.....HERE 🥰 An awesome playthrough, gotta loved all of her reactions from kratos and atreus arguing to each other, this 7:15 "THE LOUDEST BOY" lol, meeting heimdall and meeting the asgardians. Keep slayin' queen 🥺🙌 Let's goooooooo!
Don't worry about struggling with Odin's manipulation. I mean Heimdall can read minds (supposedly) and yet he believes in Odin whole heartedly. I mean he believes that a Giant didn't build the wall, but we know that isn't the case. Maybe Odin is so good at manipulation that even he believes what he is saying is true, so Heimdall can't tell how full of crap Odin really is.
1:49:12 I love this transition because of the knives. In the 2018 game Kratos gave Atreus that knife after Atreus lost/broke Faye's knife saving Kratos from the trap in Tyr's temple. When Kratos gave Atreus the knife, he told the boy the story about how and why he made them. "One the day you were born I made two knives. Mixing metals from my home and of this land. One for myself and when you were ready, one for you. Today is that day." So, when Atreus looks at his before putting it down and then Kratos picks his up and looks at it, I like to think they were both thinking of the moment when Kratos gave Atreus his knife. It is not a portal; Atreus didn't pass his knife to Kratos. They just each have one of a pair and it is just a clever transition from one character to the other. Although, I did have that thought myself for a couple of seconds when I first played the game.
Awesome review . I love the entire god of war series . Such an awesome game all around !! By the way . I love your comments on the tattoos.. I don't have any so I did not know that 🤘🔥❤️
Interesting fact: According to Norse Mythology, the gods tried to trick a master builder (who was actually a Giant) into building a wall around Asgard. It’s a long story, but apparently at some point when the wall was unfinished, Thor returned from his travels, saw the Giant, and killed him. The gods built the rest of the wall by themselves, which is probably why the wall gets more rough and crude around the top. Nice detail.
The irony is that he would rather you hate him than for you to pretend to like him cause then you are showing him your true colors rather than hiding them
I love the family concept even though hiemdalls isn't in the family he kinda is also I like that odin speaks to him in asiser also someone search up what he's says and I found out what thor means when he's a sick man also sorry for all the comments and detail adhd
Great walkthrough, QueenTofu! And I'm really sorry you had to deal with such a terrible mother and I hope you're doing much better now. ❤❤❤ EDIT: And I completely understand wanting to believe and trust Odin. For me, it's a bit of a unique situation. I was already pretty familiar with his actor, Richard Schiff, who played Toby Ziegler on The West Wing. He did a phenomenal job on the show and he was one of my favorite characters, hence why it was so surprising to see him play Odin. I was so used to seeing him as an upstanding, morally righteous person in TWW that seeing him play the charismatic Odin was just so shocking, despite knowing that Odin cannot be trusted and especially what he did to Freya and Mimir.
They wrote Odin so well, it's hilarious watching yourself wanting to trust him while knowing full well how horrible he is. It's amazing how easily we're manipulated by the right words. When you realize what the snake is...
Fun Fact about Thor: his body doesn't have a shred of fat.. that is 100% bulk muscle... for guys when we reach a certain point of muscle mass our muscles are no longer defined... you could see this in many bodybuilders today... examples being Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall... there are other fictional examples that have used this... Kingpin from marvel being a prime example.
That's not how it works lmao. Powerlifters have a high level of body fat because need a lot of fat storage for energy and they need a lot of weight to lift super heavy weight.
@@japanesecar1501 bodybuilders often use steroids so those you see who look like they are about to pop looking like a jojo character (I hate anime but it was the only thing that came to mind) are unnatural body types... Natural bodybuilders get builds like Thor.
@@TheDarkKnight-2 every human has fat in some form, my statement was a hyperbole, and yes that is how it works... You just described "Bulking up" you know what they do with that excess fat? TURN IT TO MUSCLE! I bet you think people look like liver king or arnold at peak muscle mass when in fact they look like Thor because they accumulate so much muscle it is no longer defined... The strongest man in recorded history looked like Andre the Giant ate Big Show.
a bit of a stretch but I always kind of assumed that Heimdall acted as unfiltered as he does with his views on others because he gets a completely unfiltered view on how they see him due to his ability to read people so in his mind he acts completely normal
We meet a who's who of dysfunctional deities during this section, get that peek on the inside that only someone like Atreus would be able to see. Heimdal being Odin's imperfect tool, realizing Thor and Sif being hit alot harder by Magni and Modi's deaths than we thought they would be, to Odin himself manipulating the entire interaction between Atreus and all these people. It's downright diabolical how Odin operates, and we know he isn't to be trusted, so you just wait for that other shoe to eventually drop. I too had an abusive manipulative parent so I could see Odin's shtick from a mile away
Hi, I'm a mo cap performer and I gotta say they've created seriously stylish fight choreography and cutscenes for this. I also wanted to share a painful story of mine about the Resident Evil Remakes. In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the motion capture role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part...☹ Now many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. In this business one audition can change your entire life.
Kratos made 2 identical knives, one for himself and one for Atreus when he grew up. Gave it to him after Atreus broke his mother's knife saving Kratos in the first game.
Thank you for the Ragnarok upload, Tofu. The past few days have been really tough on me so it's comforting to see a Tofu upload again. Thank you. Remember to take care of yourself.
I like loki and thrūd more then loki and angerboda, both good matches, but imagine kratos(who's father zeus is god of thunder) his son amd thrūd (who's dad is thor, granddad odin) having a son who has the blood of kratos, zeus, loki, thor and odin. Would be pretty overpowered
Loki WOULD know the whole story, since he was PART of it... Hrimthur came to Asgard and offered to build a wall for Asgard, in exchange for the hand of Freya, as well as the sun and moon. Loki suggested allowing him to work, reasoning that it would be impossible. To ensure this, the gods added a stipulation that he was to complete his work in a single winter, and would have the aid of only his horse. The gods promised they would not interfere with him in any way. As the winter wore on, the wall neared completion, so Loki took action, transforming himself into a mare, then distracting the builder's HORSE. They had promised not to interfere with HIM, his horse was fair game. As a result, the wall was finished, and the giant slain by Thor. Loki, meanwhile, had become pregnant by the builder's horse, and gave birth to a wondrous steed called Sleipnir, eight legged, which Odin took for himself.
Ingrid is also based on Freyr's sword (though I don't recall if it had a name). In the mythology, he gave it up for the love of the giantess Gerdur. This meant that he didn't have his weapon when he faced Surt during Ragnarok.

55:06 that part where odin is finessing the boi is so amazing to see because in the span of like 5-10 mins odin uses every trick in a manipulators book to get on atreus's good side
-teleports him where he knows hiemdall will find him (the mind reader who hates any and all threats to asgard and will prod at the boi whenever he gets the chance)
which acts as a juxtaposition where odin gets to act all friendly and through that helps lowers atreus's guard little by little
-the humor, the charm the gifts and knowing that atreus loves reading and always wants to learn more as a way to soften him up more
-finally the rift and the promise that they can *both* get what they want in the end with nobody getting hurt (the greatest lie odin can tell the boi)
are all fitted into such a compact scene that both atreus and us controlling the boi *want* to hope atreus is right and hope this can end peacefully
but as was the case in 1930's europe and here in the 9 realms there are just some people that cannot be reasoned with or appeased
I personally believe that given odins track record the moment he got what he wanted out of atreus he would have offed him with no hesitation same as he did with groa
Also Atreus being forced to climb the wall gives him a false sense of "I've come _this_ far, can't turn back now"

So bodybuilders who get too muscular look fatter on stage than before?
The strongest man in recorded history looked like Andre the Giant ate Big Show.
i love the hair!! 😊
1:09:42 what????? Well, I am sorry to hear that
a bit of a stretch but I always kind of assumed that Heimdall acted as unfiltered as he does with his views on others because he gets a completely unfiltered view on how they see him due to his ability to read people so in his mind he acts completely normal
Looking forward to TellTale's Batman season 2!
Heimdall is a prick but I loved his Hannibal Lector on-the-spot breakdown of Atreus. A tremendous villain and heel, very entertaining.
Atreus is foolish but his heart is in the right place
Hi, I'm a mo cap performer and I gotta say they've created seriously stylish fight choreography and cutscenes for this.
I also wanted to share a painful story of mine about the Resident Evil Remakes.
In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the motion capture role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake.
I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part...☹
Now many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity.
In this business one audition can change your entire life.
I appreciate the hell out of that insight about tattoos
I love odin he's hilarious
We need more GOW Ragnarok tofu
Cool vid (also am i the only one who thinks the wight creature is pure nightmare fuel)
Hi Tofu hope you are having an great and awesome weekend ❤
His personality basicly is the flash
Sif is Elena from Uncharted 😉
Hey Queen, please please would you play The Legend of Dragoon next? Please? I think you'll love it!
It's 4am but the queen posted GOWR so no sleep for me
SHES BACK ❤
I like loki and thrūd more then loki and angerboda, both good matches, but imagine kratos(who's father zeus is god of thunder) his son amd thrūd (who's dad is thor, granddad odin) having a son who has the blood of kratos, zeus, loki, thor and odin.
I love this game ❤

1:00:17 Ma'am, why did your eyes move down here even though there were no subtitles? Hmm, hmm? =p
I was like ”Yes this Thrud X Atreus ship is problematic, because it’s interfering with my lore myth accurate and more adorable Angrboda X Loki ship!”
