- People are using AI to create digital versions of themselves that live on after they die. It’s part of a burgeoning industry focusing on “grief tech.”
ABC News met with Jason and Melissa Gowin, who have three kids. A few years ago they each had serious health scares, so they created a chatbot that could interact with their children if they both passed away. We also spoke to experts about the pros and cons of using generative AI in this way.

This is a sickness that is completely unhealthy. We all must learn to let go and move on. We all die for a reason, to appreciate what we have and make the most of time we have.
Everyone dies and nothing lasts forever and we should not be convincing children otherwise
Yeah I don't like this AT ALL. I'm not for transhumanism. We should be separate entities that live on this planet only for the typical human length. Tired of these nerds that think that technology will allow them to live forever. If they do achieve it - it will be souless.
This is evil
Wish I could do this for my grandsons who were and one when their dad, my son, was in a bad accident.
This is creepy.
Black mirror had an episode like this
that is exactly what i was about to say. this was litreally an episode of black mirror.
Amazing how far it’s come when these ideas or businesses have been around for so long.
I understand the desire, but it just doesn't sit right with me. You can do more damage than good in the long run.
Straight out of a dystopian movie
This is cool but it seems like just ChatGPT with his Dad's voice cloned and given his text messages.
Also, we tend to take on different personas when we are speaking vs over text and emails, which could also have different personas.
I got some vacation home movies with my Dad and those seem more meaningful than talking with a robot cosplaying as my father. Even in this video, it showed Robo-Dad just making up a pretty average and common story of getting lost with his college buddy, when than never happened.
Satanic
The helmet he is wearing just to ride a bike down the street is insane.. you two are overprotective.. insane smh
Huh. You must be joking right?
I know this guys from the parents lounge they know I love animation I’m also autistic too and an artist too!
This is not healthy. Why wouldn’t you just make videos for them for the future?
Very cool! Much better than religion thinking. With this, you logically know it’s AI and not an mythical unknown invisible being
But for the kids, growing up this AI is gonna mess with there heads.
I’m the first viewer
so sorry you had to go through that alone, hope you're alright now😅
@@AlexR_44 I’m ok
