    This was surprisingly easy actually. I’ve been avoiding it for weeks now. Then I tried to learn it and it look like a half hour

    Hey is it possible to get the tabs you use? I was searching on google but couldnt find a good one. This one however seems pretty acurate.

    Thanks for the lesson, just bought the whammy 5 pedal and have a dumb question, when you write +12 and - 12 is +1 and -1 oct, right? But the thing is, when I use the +/ - octave effect i dont know how where to put the pedal when i want to remain at 0? I know i can deactivate it but for the reapers 2nd main riff its just too fast? Or am i missing something?
    Also a lesson on easily and the groove would be awesome. thank you!

      I think I understand the question. I'm not entirely sure the whammy 5 has this feature I'll explain how I do it (I use a Boss GT1000). You basically need two separate patches that you can switch between mid solo. So in the first part of the solo you set it so that the pedal is +1 octave when fully depressed. However when you get to the -1 part you need to switch patches so that the pedal is now -1 octave when fully depressed. Then for the final part, it goes back to +1 again. Does that make sense? I had a whammy years ago and if it hasn't changed then it'll mean turning that little black wheel mid solo (which could be a wee bit difficult :/ ) Failing that, hire a servant and get them to do it 😂

      @@AaronCarrington Yeah, you got my question :) , I dont have a Boss GT1000, but i have a Boss ME-80, gonna see if i can do it, guess thats why you dont have a whammy anymore? Cos activation/deactivation sucks? I was secretly hoping that there was a middle position where it would be 0 :C . Anyway... thanks for the lessons and for the answer :D . Hope you continue with them!!

      @@salvadorcantu7566 I actually still love the whammy, it tracks pitch really well. The Boss doesn't deal well with chords, it turns into a confused mess! But switching on the Boss is certainly handy for these odd occasions. Another approach to this solo would be to change the position of where you play certain parts so that you only need a +1. For this video I just wanted to do it exactly as Matt does for that extra slice of authenticity. And it's my pleasure, always happy to help 👍🙂

      So I’ve spent a wee while figuring it out but with a whammy like this if u play around the 12th fret on G string and follow the same pattern, but slide up instead of down it will sound like playing on the 15th and octave sliding down. Hope this helps

    What whammy did you use for this?

    • @AaronCarrington
      @AaronCarrington  4 года назад +1

      It was the pitch shifter on the Boss GT1000. I created two patches, one that shifts up one octave (in the notation as +12) and another that shifts down one octave (in the notation as -12) . It is possible to modify the way you play the solo and only use +12 but I chose to do it how Matt does it to be as accurate as possible 😊
