Found your channel while looking for Tiny Supers reviews, now here I am watching a bunch of your back catalog and digging it. Awesome RPG content, man. Thanks!
Thanks for the great words! If you want to get a crew together to play sometime, let me know and I will be happy to run a demo session for you! Sean Patrick Fannon, co-designer, Prowlers & Paragons Ultimate Edition
Been playing this game for a little while, and adore the system. The folks in the Discord have been pretty amazing, and the big cheeses are insanely helpful with questions about rules, character creation, and world building. PS - The magic Bennies/Plot points are called Resolve. Edge determines speed in combat. :)
Late to the party here! I also love cortex prime. How does this compare to P&P? Which would you choose for a superhero rpg (more specifically a batman campaign)?
It is solid system, that like said does a great job of straddling the line between crunch and narrative play. As you said the book is gorgeous as well.
I need a system to run a sort of kitchen sink setting with a variety of stuff from street level, X-Men, Tokusatsu transforming heroes, giant robots, magic and fantasy and space and scifi etc. Thinking this might be the right fit.
@@Azerod Someone pointed me in the direction of this game when I asked them so this is the double verification I need. I've got a custom setting I want to run a game in with some people and this sounds like the perfect system.
You're video convinced me to pull the trigger and purchase the premium hardcover on dtrpg... I would be curious to hear your thoughts on Sentinel Comics RPG. That game gets its DNA heavily from Cortex/Marvel Heroic RPG. I'm currently going through it right now... It may be too modern for my taste... I'm still undecided.
I've seen it, haven't picked it up. Saw the power list and looked slightly limiting. (maybe because they are going to release an ultimate power book). There is really nothing you can't build in P+P. I've been reading it for the past two weeks non stop, I might do a more in depth overview of it.
@@Azerod The powers in Sentinels are deliberately very broad in nature, and there's no need for splatbooks to expand them - I haven't found a character I can't at least approximate using the rules as written. The way you assemble dice pools lets you use the mix of powers and qualities you want to perform what would be power stunts or pushes in other games. It's very fluid but does depend on player creativity and a somewhat permissive attitude from the GM. The game definitely falls farther toward the abstraction end of the spectrum than many games, although nowhere nears as much so as something like Masks. That said, it's more of a narrative RPG about telling a story in the style of comic books than a tabletop simulation of being a superhero like (say) Champions. That may or may not be to your tastes, although going by what you're describing for P&P-UE and your (understandable) nostalgic fondness for V&V it might be abit more abstracted than you'd prefer.
Just wanted to update, I did pick up Sentinel Comics RPG. I LOVE THE CREATION SYSTEM IN IT!! It makes the game. ruclips.net/video/gUyIyahC_Zs/видео.html
Personally jumped from Mutants and Masterminds 3E to P&PUE because how player friendly this game is for everyone. Also the game tells you that are many ways to use powers like your Blast (any form of ranged attack) can also be used as an active defense (dodge/ parry) within reason, as well a lot of powers work well without having to attach so many descriptors to get what you want. I would say the only weakness it has is that while it offers a section to make equipment which works as +Xd modifiers to the action (Since hitting and doing dmg is the same in P&P) or do the same thing as powers (the book explains it as such) but they never offer examples of suc in the heroes and villains section.
Agreed, I'd call narrative (specifically comic book narrative from various eras) its biggest selling point. Another pretty good one for that is Masks, although it has a somewhat more narrow scope (teen supers) without dipping into the expansion books.
Have you looked into Sentinel Comics, or Wild Talents? I have most of the games that you have there, and in my opinion represent some of the best supers games out there. Sentinel Comics specifically is a derivative of Cortex, and is hands down the best supers game I have ever seen in my life.
I haven't heard of Wild Talents, I'll look into that. TY! Here is my review of Sentinel Comics: ruclips.net/video/gUyIyahC_Zs/видео.htmlsi=Jeqot3R6qU_dAX_Z
I've been wanting this one . Unfortunately the only place I seem to be able to order it from is drive thru rpg and they're charging Alot for basic shipping with crazy delivery times. Asha.e they don't offer this on Amazon or somewhere else
There is a Champions vibe all over this. 12d6 letting you left 100 tons is right from champions. Yet this game looks to be fast and easily playable which Champions was not.
Depends on how you define best. The character creation system is certainly the best drinking game I've ever seen in a Supers TTRPG, although the Palladium one comes a close second. Roll your powers, take five minutes to think, then explain your origin that justifies your bizarre mix of random powers. Take a drink every time the majority of the table calls BS on a detail. Or if you want to be modern, do a Cards Against Humanity-style variant where everyone goes through their explanation, then one person "wins" and everyone else drinks. Might also qualify as "best" for sheer volume of adventures support. The old TSR Marvel Supers game might have more published modules (emphasize might) but they aren't easy to come by any more, while V&V's are all still up on FGU's store. Even if you don't play the game they offer an idea mine that could be handy for other rules.

Why thank you, I'm going to be doing more Tiny D6 stuff this weekend.
I've been looking to run a superhero campaign, and you just sold me on this system. Thanks for the review!

That offer still available for you to run a game?
@@buckaroobonzai9847 Depending on all the factors, yes, the offer stands.

The devs are control freak cunts and they don't know the first thing about running games.
Any chance I can get a link to the discord?
This game has replaced all my other Supers RPGs. Brilliance
The more I read and understand it, the more I'm your page.
Wow! This game must be really good!
Oh man, that card based Marvel system was my first TTRPG, my very first semester of college in 2010. Great stuff
Late to the party here! I also love cortex prime. How does this compare to P&P? Which would you choose for a superhero rpg (more specifically a batman campaign)?
depends. Comic book action: Prowlers and Paragons. Cinematic action like the MCU and the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cortex Prime. Both are great.
Thank you for the great review. Was hesitant to give it a look.

As a former Champions fanatic, I find P&P a lot smoother to play and allows me to run large battles far easier.
Going to run a one-shot on the 14th. I ordered the book a few days ago.

It can handle all of this, very well.

Sentinels of the Multiverse RPG is quite great for narrative.
I haven't heard of that one, thanks! I'll have to check it out now.
Based off the incredibly fun card game for the last like 8 years.

Prowlers is far superior for narrative.
Thanks for the review sir
It has a very 90’s Image Comics feel. I love it!

Is that the standard color book or premium?
color premium I believe.

Pretty much. Champions had a more "build you own power" where the powers here are clearly defined.
Spiderman nwh trailer reaction please
First comment, woot!
Show off.
"V&V is still the best superhero RPG"... Yeah no. Opinion discarded.
