I picked up both the Core game and this campaign and I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. There's definitely stuff I can pick apart, but it looks like it should be a fun campaign.
While I'll definitely present an option to change characters for each Rank, I think it would be more interesting to establish in Session Zero that the heroes being used are just having their powers awakening and they'll be learning more and more about what they can do as they progress, justifying the ranking up of them for each adventure. I may consider adding some form of "cosmic boost" to really justify getting all the way to Rank 6, like in a Captain Universe sort of vein, but if the players go into this with the "awakening powers" mindset and don't just make street-level heroes, that may not be necessary. I'll have to give the campaign a second read through to consider it further, but I think there's an opportunity to run the same characters and make it work. We'll eventually see when I finally get it to the table.

TSR's Marvel Super Heroes is a more intuitive, faster system to run and play than the new Marvel Multiverse game. If only good art made the overall playability of an rpg better 🙄

Agreed. It also established clear benchmarks and made stats for just about every hero that I agree with. TSR Marvel and DC Heroes back in the 80s were absolute gems.

@@Azerod Have you heard of the TTRPG, Ascendant? This supers RPG pays tremendous homage to both TSR Marvel and DC Heroes in the use of both its chart (and d100 resolution mechanic) and the use of logarithmic scaling for many types of quantities to figure out how the comic book physics within the game world work (which can be done pretty quickly if you have the corresponding formulas readily on hand). The artwork in it is also high-quality, something akin to the first edition of Mutants & Masterminds.

@@Azerod I'm not sure I agree. Looking through the profiles, everyone mostly makes sense. Granted I've never played TSR Marvel Super Heroes but that's just me maybe.
The only real problem I have is the dice gimmick of the system and how the Marvel die has two sixes so you have a 25-30% chance of getting a six. However looking at a few combat test videos it's actually a bit more involved than at first glance.

Yeah echo gain the phoenix force in Aaron’s Avengers run. Not a great run in my point of view.
