    The greatest French Horn player evcer, can't image the superb performance when he uses current instrument.

    Hermann Baumann used in the recording from Glière Horn Concerto, an Alexander 103.
    But the picture is from 1969. It is a SIngle Horn in G-Alto from Alexander and his playing the Mass in B-minor form J. S. Bach with Karl Richter; a very beautiful recording!!

    @univocalic You are correct. This is a photo taken from when he played the Quoniam with Richter. I was unable to get any video or photos from when he played this with the Gewandhaus.

    @gitrrdone What he used in the recording... probably. What is in the picture... probably not. This is NOT a picture of when he performed the concerto. The absence of a fourth "change" valve, and lack of extra tubing in the picture make me think it is a single horn of some key. Probably not F or Bb however.

    This looks like a Syrhe Piccolo Horn used for the high parts in music pieces :)
