Hermann Baumann used in the recording from Glière Horn Concerto, an Alexander 103. But the picture is from 1969. It is a SIngle Horn in G-Alto from Alexander and his playing the Mass in B-minor form J. S. Bach with Karl Richter; a very beautiful recording!! Best Regards!
@univocalic You are correct. This is a photo taken from when he played the Quoniam with Richter. I was unable to get any video or photos from when he played this with the Gewandhaus.
@gitrrdone What he used in the recording... probably. What is in the picture... probably not. This is NOT a picture of when he performed the concerto. The absence of a fourth "change" valve, and lack of extra tubing in the picture make me think it is a single horn of some key. Probably not F or Bb however.
The greatest French Horn player evcer, can't image the superb performance when he uses current instrument.

This looks like a Syrhe Piccolo Horn used for the high parts in music pieces :)
