      Hey Danny, everything from Odawara station onwards towards hakone (like the busses, hakonetozan line, the pirate ship, cable car - are all included in the pass)
      The only thing you need to organise is the transport to odawara if travelling via shinkansen from major cities or hakone yumoto if from shinjuku.
      Hope that helps - let me know if there is any questions :)

    hi guys! does this mean that the Hakone free pass covers our train ride from tokyo to odawara station? which route to take? the shinkansen? im travelling with my toddler, hope to get more information for a fuss free travel from tokyo to hakone ! thank you!!

    • @nickandhelmi
      @nickandhelmi  5 лет назад +1

      Krystal Yeo
      Hi Krystal
      on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. However if you are based in tokyo - you can also do the exact route option that we took (starting from the shrine down the bottom -> Pirate ship -> cable car towards owakudani mountain then back down towards Gora)
      now generally from Tokyo there is a couple of options which includes Shinkansen, The Romance Car and normal train - it depends where you are situated in tokyo - (the hakone free pass only covers the hakone loop not the way there - but all the route in this video is perfect with a toddler and stroller friendly too)
      If you were staying at Shinjuku you can take the 5am on the dot (Yamanote Line) towards Shinagawa Station where you switch to the Tokaido Line towards Odawara Station)
      at Odawara you then would have around 8 minutes time to get to the bus stop (so you can stock up on food / or buy your hakone free pass asap there should you need too) - one of the earliest bus from odawara station towards the shrine is around 6:50am (you arrive at odawara around 6:42am - generally japan train are on time so this should be quite precise)
      The Bus Terminal is Southeast of Odawara station - take the bus and arrive at Motohakone bus stop/next to jinja iriguchi stop (on this video) - from there on walk around 5 minutes towards the shrine by the lake..
      If everything checks out you should arrive at the shrine around 8pm which is exactly when i was there on this video - at that point of time there was only 3 groups other than us at the shrine, so snap happy :)
      Now overall if you do exactly our itinerary from here on (take the earliest pirate ship at 10am) - you should be able to do a full circle down to gora by around 2pm like on this video we only did a half a day tour because we had to catch our next train towards nagano for our snow monkey episode - but essentially you could stay longer if you wanted - from my understanding even around 9pm there are transportation operating back towards Tokyo - since generally its around 2 hour trip to hakone one way.
      So if after 2pm you wanted to go to the hakone open air museum or Yunessun for the hotspring theme park you can :)
      I hope that helps (also i find that shinkansens are a better option if you are travelling around japan otherwise the normal train / romance car is the other option - the only downside to the romance car from shinjuku is that it operates quite late in the morning so you would not be there at 8am, at the shrine that is. So if you wanted a photo without queue you have to come early :) )
      Hope that helps! Let me know if there is more you need to know happy to help :)

    It was a regular weekday when you guys went there?

    • @nickandhelmi
      @nickandhelmi  5 лет назад +1

      yes actually this was regular weekdays :D - it gets worse over the weekend with more crowds. - our best advice is to get there really early. - We stayed the night before to do our full day trip from the morning - technically if you follow everything on this video, you should be able to finish all the loop by 12pm.
      on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. My wife and I are going to Japan in november, we are planning to visit Hakone for a day trip from Tokyo on a weekday, hope we don't get too much lines. hahaha
      Your video and answer helped us a lot in making our itinerary, thanks!

    • @nickandhelmi
      @nickandhelmi  5 лет назад +1

      Johnny M. Almeida most tourist will always end up in gora and they will do the other route (aka taking the tram up then ropeway towards owakudani) as they dont like taking the buses. But i think doing the reverse route that we did here reduces congestion of queues. If you see at the end of the video gora station queue to go up to owakudani was massive and that was 1.30pm
      So my suggestion is taking the hakone shrine route first via bus first because it is by far the must have picture of your trip to hakone :) - we stayed overnight in this video as a precaution because we have to get that no tourist shot at the hakone shrine hehe
      And we went around december as well so was pretty cold - not sure how cold november will be but pack them jackets 😎

    • @ehrelativo

      @@nickandhelmi yeah, we're planning to take the reverse route, also because it looks like you get better views of Mt. Fuji in the morning.

      @nickandhelmi  5 лет назад +1

    • @nickandhelmi
      @nickandhelmi  4 года назад +1

      Patitiodespi hey great question :) - the place that we went the onsen is only opened to guest of the hotel and its private with 30 minute time limit per person/ couple if you have a partner. This makes it really great for people who have tattoos - tattoos are generally banned on most of the local onsens that is public where everyone is naked. In this case most onsen are private ones - but def encourage to research each hotel there for different type of onsen they have and wether they are open to those having tattoos - if its private yes , its its public it may be yes or no (best to check with the hotel) , given the amount of tourist they may be more relax around there vs local towns. But the hotels there that have private onsen are generally affordable to accommodate everyone budget range. Of course the more expensive one will boast mount fuji views for example.
      Hope that helps :)

    Great video. Can I ask if you can share your detailed itinerary? I would love to visit Hakone next month. Thank you!

      Hey charity sorry for the wait, thought i reply.. i have a few information on how we did this
      on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. However if you are based in tokyo - you can also do the exact route option that we took (starting from the shrine down the bottom -> Pirate ship -> cable car towards owakudani mountain then back down towards Gora)
      now generally from Tokyo there is a couple of options which includes Shinkansen, The Romance Car and normal train - it depends where you are situated in tokyo - If you were staying at Shinjuku you can take the 5am on the dot (Yamanote Line) towards Shinagawa Station where you switch to the Tokaido Line towards Odawara Station)
      at Odawara you then would have around 8 minutes time to get to the bus stop (so you can stock up on food / or buy your hakone free pass asap there should you need too) - one of the earliest bus from odawara station towards the shrine is around 6:50am (you arrive at odawara around 6:42am - generally japan train are on time so this should be quite precise)
      The Bus Terminal is Southeast of Odawara station - take the bus and arrive at Motohakone bus stop/next to jinja iriguchi stop (on this video) - from there on walk around 5 minutes towards the shrine by the lake..
      If everything checks out you should arrive at the shrine around 8am which is exactly when i was there on this video - at that point of time there was only 3 groups other than us at the shrine, so snap happy :)
      Now overall if you do exactly our itinerary from here on (take the earliest pirate ship at 10am) - you should be able to do a full circle down to gora by around 2pm like on this video we only did a half a day because we had to catch our next train towards nagano for our snow monkey episode - but essentially you could stay longer if you wanted - from my understanding even around 9pm there are transportation operating back towards Tokyo - since generally its around 2 hour trip to hakone one way.
      So if after 2pm you wanted to go to the hakone open air museum or Yunessun for the hotspring theme park you can :)
      hope this helps
