      Yeah we know this wasn't the plan. Disney did not have a plan. and they threw George Lucas is out the window after they told him they would use it. the original director of episode 9 said the emperor had nothing to do with it when he was working on it. that they only came up with that idea last minute when they fired him and brought jar jar Abrams in. so there's no way this was palpatine's plan all along because it wasn't the plan for Star Wars all along! Disney is just retconning and making crap up and this channel is shilling out for them!

      I've long since come to the conclusion that the Sequels are just bad-fics/poor-fan'imations that were pushed into viral territory by a tide of money from a desperate, hollowed-out CORPSE of a once-creative company that has Walt & Roy spinning in their graves. I mean for Buddha's sake, this shit makes the live-action Last Airbender look iron-bound-faithful to it's source material and genuinly good besides--THAT'S how bad things have gotten! And what's most galling is that you have the same thing happening with Rebels compared to Clone Wars with executive meddling stifling the efforts of SAINT Filoni, only to push out a decent score in Rogue One and an absolute beauty of a bullseye in The Mandalorian, so WHAT is going on at Quality Control for these films and their surrounding canon, i.e. Battle of Jakku or dare i say the whole 'neo-battlefront' campaign, which is it's own shelf of canned worms?

      @@katsarelas1947 I'm not referring to the immortality plot itself as bad-fic, it's the execution--i.e. that Disney "had" to re-do it instead of e.g. putting the comics/novels to cinema with/out THEN putting in new stuff for reasons ranging from better flow in a different medium to 'mere' flash i.e. Han's death OR faking-out Chewie's ACTUAL death-by-moon like they 'fooled' us with the shuttle...for like 5 minutes without ANY angst/consequences, BTW...still--that concerned and in short order infuriated me; even the 'highlight' scenes tended to have SOD-breaking moments galore, e.g. the Holdo Manuevre is up for debate--I personally would've loved them doing more with that ala the EU when Palpatine Reborn weaponised the effect against whole worlds with his Galaxy Gun, which was the sort of logic sci-fi series generally follow like when ships are stated to have nuclear reactors so OF COURSE some villain at some point would take advantage of that, & would've presented the oppertunity for evolution of space-battle tactics ala real-life movement from flak-guns to point-defence turrets even if dogfighting remained in effect for starfighters, say, because it's more economical to use lasers and line-of-sight the way 'dumb' droids get you roughly equal results to Terminators on a budget that fits the CIS economist leadership's mindset--but the 'disappearing knife' scene of the Throneroom Battle is 1 of those things that just HAVE to be labelled 'bad' at softest, and as we see in GenTech's video, what i presume to be a few hours or days at most is MORE than enough time to think of at least 1 interesting thread a director can use tying the Sequels if not all 9 movies together--pos. explained via villanous monologue or even the ghost of Rey's father doing a bit of exposition, "my father detested his withered form", that sort of thing--so what prevented the people whose JOB it is to check stuff like that or outright hiring fans for 'proto-screenings' like some companies have started doing DOING said job? This is one of those rare situations where every fan and their grandma COULD in fact do a better job AND in fact have already done so in MANY ways, such as--again--the very video we're posting commentary on!
      Also BTW excuse me if you were just putting out a sarcastic line for the hell of it, but this trilogy has stoked my Nerd Side SO HARD i feel the Darkest urge to vent in a mostly-polite, reasonable debate, so any1 that has "missed oppertunity" rants they want to get off THEIR chest are not just welcome but encouraged on this sub-reply-list.

      You know this whole force possession thing would have made more sense if it wasn't Palpatine that was saying it. Imagine instead it was Kylo Ren saying it, while he revealed that it was he who had turned Vader. It was he whom controlled the Senate. It was he whom allowed his foolish apprentice to believe that he had killed him in his sleep. Wouldn't it have blown your mind to learn that Kylo had been possessed the moment he killed Snoke by an ancient Sith that went all the way back to the creation of the rule of 2? That would give a lot more depth to the rule of 2. Why would anyone want to train someone that they know will one day kill them, unless they are sure that they would be possessing a much more powerful body?

      Well, your half wrong and half right. Palpatine set up a contingency plan incase his empire fell which is operation cinder. Take a look at the final order and first order. He decided that if he fell that the empire must evolve into something more. Palpatine learned the ability to survive and live. He found out about exegol during the years of the empire, and would rebuild from the shadows, he also creates a new leader to make people think a new enemy came with the first order. Snoke. He also wanted to test Kylo ren with using the rule of two. Which was to kill the master to gain power. That was when he waited to the right moment for Palpatine to reveal himself. And the rest is self explanatory if you saw the movie.

      Why would AWOL Stormtroopers purposefully hid out on the planet with death star space Nazi remains? Wouldn't they know space neo-nazis would want to search for relics?
      Did Kylo Ren find some hyperfuel in order to get from the death star remains to exegol in what looked like a standard tie fighter?

      Prequels: The rise of Palpatine over the Republic/Empire.
      Main trilogy: The removal of Palpatine from the Republic/Empire.
      Sequel trilogy: The defeat of the evil that sustained Palpatine. The fate of the Republic takes a back seat to the fate of the Force. (The Republic will always be at risk until the spiritual conflict of the galaxy is resolved.) The films rip the romanticized cover off the Dark Side, showing the true twisted depths of that way. We see the unholy way Palpatine clung to life, we see where the Sith come from, and we see them finally defeated on their homefront.

    It's Bonkers.
    Death Star 1 blown up, Empire continues. Death Star 2 blows up, Palps collapses his own Empire, only to create a First Order which starts another campaign to conquer the Galaxy - he once ruled and then wrecked for no good reason - and build a new Empire. But this time Palps does not supply the First Order - which he controls through Snoke - the Planet killing Star Destroyers it needs to do the job. Instead he has them _TURNING A ENTIRE PLANET INTO A MULTI PLANET KILLER_ even though he has these thousands of Star Destroyers that could do a whole lot more destruction and evade a enemy that cannot track them through Hyperspace. Just saw Rise of Skywalker, and this seems pretty legit. It makes sense that Darth Pelagius originally developed his body snatcher technique and planned to use it on his apprentice (and had probably done this a few times before) which is why Shiv killed him in his sleep instead of challenging him directly. The whole thing with Anakin and Luke fits EXTREMELY well this way; Palpatine spent most of the prequel looking for a suitable replacement for Darth Maul and then most of the OT looking to replace Vader.
    I can't really buy the Empire being set up to fail, though. I think at heart Palpatine was an ultra nihilist and was mainly looking to create a galaxy where the strongest could reign and thrive at the expense of the weak. Probably figured that this would help him single out potential candidates for replacement bodies; anyone who could survive the rat race would be powerful enough for his purposes.

    The Xyston class Star Destroyer wasn't a repurposed Imperial-II class, it was a new design that closely resembled the Imperial-II class, but there the similarities end. The Xyston class is 2.4 kilometres in length as opposed to the Imperial-II class's 1.6 kilometres, and it has two fighter bays, one on each side of the ventral axial superlaser. The superlaser draws its power directly from the main reactor, much like the Death Stars of the Old Empire, but with a much faster recharge rate. And since there were at least a thousand of these planet-killing ships, this basically represents the ultimate evolution of not only the Star Destroyer class but Sheev Palpatine's Grand Plan.
    No Senate. No Regional Governors. No judiciary. No army. No regime. It is just the Emperor, his fleet of planet killer ships, and the uncountable subjects of the Emperor himself. The very essence of the Final Order is this -- "Obey my every word and decree, or your world dies."

    I must admit this is the first time I think of the empire and how it could lose from that tag tag fleet of the rebels. I always assumed the explanation in the thrawn books that his will made it possible that empire coordinated and work together better in battle. But in hindi sight that would mean that without him they were even worse and that's hard to imagine!
    No I believe indeed he created a flawed empire, just as his droid army was flawed. And the clone army was rigged to betray the jedi and the republic.
    I think the only thing he did not plan was his own dead, but even for that he had safeguards in place for that unlikely event. The first order is probably an improvised version to give him time to adjust his endgame and gain enough strengt to create his final order for the galaxy.
    I do think he wanted to trick ray into believing he died and she becomes empores. , in truth after that his spirit would take over her body and he would still rule. I don't believe he will give up power for any one. Not even an grandchild.

    This video has a number of outright mistakes. Chief among these include Palatine creating Anakin. Anakin was created accidentally by Darth Plageuis; NOT Darth Sidious. Also, Darth Sidious/Palpatine did have a plan called "the contingency," but that's not the same as planning for the Empire to intentionally fail. It's more likely, and implied in the contingency that Sidious finally realized what his master, Darth Plageuis, realized that the force can strike back against him. Also, the Empire clearly abused people and resources, BUT that's not the same as a scorched Earth policy. It's not the same at all actually.

      Also the new Star Destroyers are indeed a new variant, and were made not terribly long ago seeing as how the Dreadnought from TLJ was a predecessor to this final design.

    Nope Disney failed to prepare the trilogy properly.
    Some might say it was KK's fault for not paying attention.
    However before they even thought about starting work on episode 7 they should have prepared all three movies in advance making damn sure to cover every avenue such as if they didn't want the OT be that much a part of the ST to get their reunion out of the way in the first movie.
    Palpatine was never the intended villain for episode 9, what happened is that Abrams established the first movie intended for Rian to follow it up and Colin to finish it.
    However Rian saw a chance to do both movies and deliberately fcuked up his movie knowing Colin would protest and because of his movie flop Rian used that to get Colin fired instead of himself.
    BUT they didn't let him do the movies he wanted and stuck with parts of two movies both uncompleted he had to merge the two to make something worth releasing.
    Quite probably as an after thought he refused to keep Luke alive despite it being the obvious move after Carrie Fisher passed away.
    JJ clearly has no idea about Star Wars beyond the basics remember his deal is the mystery box but answering those mysteries isn't something he does normally.
    Faced with Rian's mess instead of something creative and new he instead like he did with episode 7 he looked back for an answer and not paid attention to the EU that Disney turned into Legends well not enough anyway.
    Done properly he should have revealed Palpatine we meet in this movie is a clone and a younger version.
    Snoke a member of the Emperor's inner circle usurped power keeping the clone in his tank until he was killed and they recognised his treachery releasing the clone who is now trying to regain his throne resulting in the First Order going to war with their predecessor the Empire.
    What remains of the Republic backs the Resistance however Leia died between episode 8 and 9 but Luke is revealed to be still alive courtesy of Ezra Bridger grabbing him and tossing without his clothes to the world where Rey & co have docked.
    By the way Luke has a wayfinder why didn't you just use the one he picked up in the Battlefront 2 story and have that point the way to the Emperor's secret hideout?
    I better stop this is getting insane!

Sid only did what the ancient Sith would have done, what any of the flawed Sith that Darth Bane had destroyed would have done. The final nail in the coffin is that Sid decided to follow the Rule of One, seeking immortality for himself and not the progression of the Dark Side as a whole. I doubt that Palpatine's Plan A was to build the Empire, destroy it and then rebuild it in 30 years, but as his backup plan if Endor failed, it seems reasonable enough. As Sith Lords go.

    I wondered - The Empire could easily have endured and been loved by the people, while the Rebel Alliance vilified - BUT - The Death Star, suddenly ruining economies that had depended on the Empire (yes, the New Republic did worse on the economy), and so much more. It seemed like the Emperor had become senile and destroyed his own Empire.

    I don’t think being thrown into the vent by Anakin was part of the plan. But he did have a plan for his own defeat. Operation Cinder served two purposes first to prevent the Empire’s victory, he’d rather deal with the New Republic than he would an Empire that had realised he could be replaced. And second to find the most loyal and amoral of them to become the founding members of the First Order.

    Im sorry but this makes no sense. You say he wanted total control and not be bound by the opinions and remnants of the republic. Yet all the repurcussions of his negative acts could have been wiped at the battle of Endor, had he won. All the jedi dead with Luke gone. He could have continued making the death star destroyer fleet and just do the same thing from the top. Why did he need to jump into an exploding reactor core to do the same thing from the shadows? Also how could money be a problem in his rule of the empire when its not a problem at the unknown regions? He could have just used the same funds from Coruscant. Also Luke was supposed to be his intended vessel. Do you mean to say that he planned to fail at turning him or he was actually surprised it turned out bad and thats what killed him? In which case it wasnt all according to plan.

      Sidius said that he doesn't need Empire what can't protect its Emperor. Even if he would survive Death Star (eghm) Empire was already in proces of decomposition with numerous officers and government workers turning the side after Alderon. From his perspective it would make more sense to take most loyal forces and rebuild Empire in the secret (First Order). Then try save rotting structure, what could create strong local Empire remnants, what could possibly oppose his plans later as new rulers would have own business. In fact speeding unavoidable collapse would ensure that Republic would be full of itself and start repeating mistakes what lead to its fall on the first place. Something what actually did happen, like for example with whole ban on the Photon Torpedoes and withdrawing support to Resistance. It in fact totally do make sense form strategical point of view.

    • @nemdenemam9753
      @nemdenemam9753 4 года назад +3

      TheRezro but this video says Palpatine orchestrated the events that lead into the destruction of alderan. Hence making the weak empire that was incapable of defending him. Also even after alderan the empire was insanely strong. Had he not been stupid at endor, the main rebel fleet would have been gone. It makes no sense. Why would you be better equipped to do the same changes while you are obscure and pushed at the end of the galaxy. Opposition will always happen against a tyrannical rule. This video implies that the final plan to counteract that were the thousands of death star destroyers threatening every planet. Why did he have to become obscure for that if a)he already made the fleet from epire money by Ep 6 or b)he made it from magical unknown region money which he could have used from the empire. Also I fail to see how alderan (suspected supporter of rebel alliance) was a reason to leave but destroying 5 main capital planets wouldnt be. I get the video saying people hated the new republic but thats still probably trillions of people dead. If one of them caused mass desertion then the other would too

    • @TheRezro
      @TheRezro 4 года назад

      @@nemdenemam9753 I can't comment creator opinion, but I don't see how Palpatine would ever support destruction of Alderon. It was purely decision of Tarkin, who was given full power over that region and looking down even on Vader. The true purpose of Death Star was to fight with Yuuzhan Vong Worldships. It is also why majority of empire fleet was at the time in unknown regions. But after Endor it become clear that everything would collapse and ignorant Republic is far less threatening then rebellious Empire Remnants. When main fleet would finally back.

    • @nemdenemam9753
      @nemdenemam9753 4 года назад

      @@TheRezro alderaan was a supposed rebel sympatizer. Palpatine supported destroying 5 main planets with a much greater populace in Ep 7. I dont see how its incompatible with his character.
      Also if destroying Alderaan was such a big deal (as in millions deserting for it) then I dont see how Tarkin would have had that much autonomy. I think its plausible that he had at least a skype call before destroying billions of people (if we are going by headcannon as we seem to do). In your version why was Tarkin left in charge? He had Vader by his side every second, so Palpatine knew about everything he did. Palpatine didnt want to destroy Alderann and didnt find it a good idea yet he left Tarkin in charge?
      What happens after Endor doesnt have anything to do with why he would orchestrate the defeat at Endor. Which was the starting idea for this whole conversation. Unless you meant after Yavin. Which is a new proposition than the one in the video but its actually more sane imo. But even if it was a decision after Yavin, it makes little sense why someone would give up galaxy wide control for the hope that the following government is gonna be as inept as the new republic is. Especially if someone is fearing for an outside invasion from the Vong. Why would he sacrifice his weapon against the vong then?

    The logic is all there to people who are able to see beyond the suggestions of the negative trolls.
    If you don't think the new creators didn't have a plan, didn't minutely scheme out the details to line up with the precedents of the previous trilogies, then I don't know what we can do for you. These are some of the best writers and biggest Star Wars fans on the planet working on these films.
    If you simply accept that Palpatine's return was the idea all along in the new trilogy, every other "retcon" or "contradiction" that happens from 7 to 8 to 9 shows itself to actually be an intended plot shift.
