  • I just got some whet stones and I'm excited to share with you my first attempt at sharpening on them. More specifically, they are a 1000-grit sharpening stone and a 6000-grit polishing stone, both from the Japanese company King. I know how to use them in theory, but let's see how I do in practice :D

Nice to see that it doesn't have to take 6 hours to polish a knife.
Thanks, I will get a couple of stones.

I mean, I could've polished a little more, but you'll definitely get a good result in just 5-10 mins. Well, it also depends on the knife and how dull it is, of course 😁 Certainly a good investment tho!

Never skip low Grit in case of chips in future.. Low Grit helps fix a knife I believe.

Looks great mate! watch out for the rocking motion in your hands when sharpening. few things! MORE WATER ON THE STONE... Get a leveling stone, it will help keep your stones flat and make some extra slur, which will help a lot with feel and cutting. last thing, dont over think it, you will develop your own technique as you sharpen more:D
