Yea i did the same things when it was fully covered and it didn’t hurt my eyes! I only used them while it was still in the process of being covered. Then when it was completely full i couldn’t see the solar esclipse so i took off the solar eclipse glasses and every one did as well! When its not fully covered, the sun is still bright as hell so you obviously need em.

Remember, religion is created by MANKIND. the ONLY GOD is the Universe around you and the one we should be worshiping to is to "Mother Nature" EARTH. we should be worshiping a planet like our own and respect the differences in people, the differences in geography and the differences in the climate that aligns all of us together... Religion was created by greedy people to profit monetarily from beliefs. this is why in today's world the number one child molesters have been by church people, just to give you one example of corruption.. Also the Pastor, Deacons and the pastor's wives are enjoying get money $ that blind worshippers give to them.
It didn’t cover the sun. The moon is obviously smaller. What we saw was the shadow of the moon. When it was in totality- it did look as if it did cover it but with the sun ring around it. Maybe you just had to be there to see, to understand and see the difference.
Whether or not you’re religious, the profundity of seeing a total solar eclipse can’t really be stated in words. Sure, conceptually, it’s just the shadow of the moon but in person it’s really quite indescribable. For many people the closest language possible to to convey that degree of the sublime is the language of the Bible.

Yes, It was safe to look at it while in Totality. (3-4min or so). So before and after that, you would need the safe eclipse glasses.
