Got a link to your preferred bead board insulation material? I've been checking out Home Depot and their options seem yellowish vs. white for the raw bead board side.
www.homedepot.com/p/R-Tech-1-in-x-48-in-x-8-ft-R-3-85-Insulating-Sheathing-320821/202532854 Is what I purchased. 1" was the thinnest I could find, but if you can find something similar that's 1/2" I'd go with that. A 4x8' board makes 2x 2x4' or 1x 4x4' boards. Keep the silver side as is on one piece. Peel the silver side off another piece. Tape them together along the edges with gaff tape so the ugly logo side is in the middle. If you want to match the size of the matthews floppies they made for cars and vans, then make your bead board 40"x40".
Thanks so much for your great videos :) I'm currently shooting my first short documentary film, and although I'm using exclusively natural lighting this is definitely useful stuff to be aware of, especially for my next projects ! 🙏💫
That 6x6 looks great - in addition to ultrabounce, what is your favorite diffusion for that frame? Also, what's your favorite source for duvetyne if you aren't buying a ton?
Hey there! Enjoying your videos, thank you for the knowledge. I'm a beginner in all of this, as I mostly shoot with natural light. As a traveling DP for doc work, would the 6x6 frame be a good choice to stow in a checked Pelican? I'm looking for ideas for a key, and so far I'm considering the Amaran 22C and the Westcott Book Light Kit.
the 6x6 is great if your pelican can hold something 3' long! otherwise that westcott kit is also really useful for someone who travels a lot! Also, I use my amaran f22c on most shoots, so you can't go wrong with purchasing that light!
@@thegranitegaffer Crazy follow-up question: Could I hypothetically purchase a 12x12' silk, say a 1/2 grid silent from TRP, and rope it up between some trees when shooting outdoors? The thought there is I don't need to travel with a frame, trees are far more secure than frames…But perhaps the light will not be even, as wind is inevitable…
www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=Duvetyne&sts=ma I usually buy the 10 yard roll for $80. I've got one of those in 2x 15' sections for longer neg runs and the other one on hand to cut pieces off of

I need to remember I can use those clips as little weights! Would love to see more on that 6x6, too.
I'll write and put a review up soon for you!
Amazing info. The clarity and information density is fantastic.
Glad it was helpful!

I hope it's going well!!!!!
Definitely going to check out that Chimera 6x6 frame. The scrim jims are such a pain to set up and they definitely aren't quick.
It's so quick to set up and tear down, I love that frame. Any excuse I get to put it up I will lol
Thanks for the video. You're a very good teacher ❤
Thank you for watching it!! 🙌

I'm a sucker for bleached and/or unbleached muslin and magic cloth. But if you don't have a ton of output then 1/2 grid is pretty nice too
I just bought the 30 yard roll x 5' or whatever on bhphoto for $75ish.
