Womp womp. You threw your job away and smashed it in the faces of those who gave it to you and you’re surprised you can’t find a new job. Darn, we won’t get 700 super hero movies a year now? What WILL society do???

this is horrible news. never thought i would see this happen in my life. covid made it so people would work from home and now companies don't feel its personal, firing people they don't see. i hope hollywood remains intact and more importantly, that it remains pure with no Ai. would like to see real artist and passion return. no more remakes, no more superheroes.

The strike was necessary. Whenever somebody comes to you with tech that steals your worth, you say No. No. It's very simple, but people are talking it away.
Now productions are leaving to areas where it's easier to take advantage of people. At least for now.

I came here because my friend said they are still on strike & no job coming. Do we really need a news channel? Maybe you are next to be phased out.

    AI isn't replacing people: it's supplemental,like VFX?

Depends on the job. The whole industry has shrunk as far as labor, as AI can save on a lot of work, even shrinking construction jobs because there is less need to actually build sets, and it's quick to use AI in CGI to fill in gaps, editing is faster, make up can be fixed, music is almost automatic, etc etc........ and the competition from foreign shows is putting the traditional Hollywood industry in LA itself, such as TV shows and even commercials, producers don't need to do much in LA itself if the story doesn't even take place here. So it's not just supplemental. It really is replacing a lot of jobs that used to be done manually by humans, even quick paint jobs of walls etc I could go on and on.

As an animator myself I had been using AI tools like Cascadeur to aid in secondary animation. So it means digital FX houses will have more people freed up to work on projects. Speaking of which digital FX has always been on the cusps of such tech as new procedurally generated tools are pioneered.
