@Fred Wills ive been skiing for 16 years, that has nothing to do with that, they are annoying as hell. The last one i have seen in Austria has been gone for probably 8 years now. (However ive only been to six different ski areas)....They are slower on their way up, but faster within the station, they have no cushion (therefore also never heated seats and backs), there is often a hole between seat and back, they only have a bar and not a bubble, they usually only fit 2-4 people instead of 4-8 so you have to wait longer, there were much more people falling so the lift had to stop more often which again increased the travel time... there is nothing good about them.
@@becker1264 It's interesting to hear you talk like they are a relic- where do you ski? Do they seriously not have a single regular chair lift- like what only gondolas/cable cars and t-bars? 100% of the chair lifts in my local resort in Australia (the biggest resort in Aus) have a bar, certainly no cushions (mostly rails, like a park bench). This is also the case in Japan- they do have gondolas but lots of chair lifts without bubbles too and I think it's the case in north America although I've not skiied there- just from videos. I initially believed you were just referring to chair lifts that don't slow in the 'get on/off' area- these are also common in Australia. I've only ridden in a chair lift with a bubble once (can't remember where it was tbh) and never ridden on one with heated seats or cushions. If we're talking about gondolas (telecabin in French, I've never skiied in Austria so I don't know what the German word is) that's different.

As a lift operator at a local ski area, I don't appreciate any of the stunts that involve hanging on a chair or jumping off the chair; not only are the idiots themselves at risk of injury, they are putting all the passengers riding the lift at risk also. It's all fun and games until...
Safety must come first in every ski resort. Thank you for this comment and we ask all snow sports fans not to endanger themselves or others 👏🏻
