  • This short video offers a demonstration of a few of the interactive figures within "The 'Paper' of the Future," a document created in 2016 for the American Astronomical Society's Publications Task Force by Alyssa Goodman, Josh Peek and colleagues. The "Paper's" full goal was a demonstration of how data and code sharing, plus online publication platforms that make possible interactive features like the ones demonstrated in this video, would enhance future of scholarly publishing. The American Astronomical Society (AAS) Journals now permit the use of all of the technologies in this demonstration "paper."
The "Paper" itself can be accessed at www.authorea.c....
A more expansive and explanatory demonstration of the paper is also on RUclips, at • The Paper of the Future
A partial list of the software used and services used in creating The "Paper" of the Future includes:
    --Authorea authorea.com
    --Jupyter Notebooks jupyter.org
--glue glueviz.org, with output to d3po, which has since been supplanted by glue output to plot.ly (see below)
    --plot.ly plotly.com
    --WorldWide Telescope worldwidetelesc...
If you have questions about the AAS Journals' interactive figure opportunities, have a look at journals.aas.o..., and/or contact AAS Publishing @AAS_Publishing.
