Hey Zach, Thanks so much for doing that so we could all see! I have been wondering about the tang on the Benchmade Puukko if it was a full-width tang or some kind of 'rat tail tang'. Good to know - you've definitely answered the question. It looks very solid and dependable. Sorry you had to destroy the handle to find out - maybe you can get a custom one made that will be even better? You could definitely do a paracord wrap in the meantime. I wish knife makers would just be more open about the tang and what it consists of under the handle so we don't have to "search" to find out! Thanks Bro!

you know those cold steel peace makers, i had the peace maker mark 2 and i stupidly threw it at a log and it bounced off it then smacked into a big rock and the handle was ruined completely tore open and i did not want to just wrap a load of tape around the thing. the handle was made of a very grippy and soft rubber much like the handle materiel on that puukko, i thought the knife was done for and that i would need to send it back to CS but then i saw that the tang actually had 3 perfectly spaced and lined up holes in it that would work great for pins and my own custom handle.
