    General Stanton Inn in Charlestown RI is reputed to be haunted. Ghost Hunter's filmed an episode there. I used to host an open mic night there in the tavern section. Sometimes on my break I'd walk around and check the old place out. I got a couple of weird EVPs in the section of the building that had originally been used as a school house. A relative who used to waitress there said there was a room in the inn where all the furniture was right in the middle of the room and when staff would put the furniture back into place and close the door within five minutes it was all back in the middle again. She said she actually had witnessed the room all cleaned and prepped for guests and less than five minutes later she and the manager standing outside the door the entire time and when they reopen the room all the furniture, bed, dressers, chairs, table etc is all in a pile in the middle of the room. That was her initiation when she first got hired. She almost didn't accept the job, it freaked her out so much but since she never had to go into the inn part it was ok. Not sure if they weren't pranking her but that place has been there since the late 1600's. It's a very cool place and as of this writing it's for sale.

      It has since been purchased and reopened under the new owners, and looks really great so far. It appears as though it has been returned to its former glory.

    I’m surprised Fort Wetherill isn’t on this list. Fort Wetherill was an old fort that was used in World War I and II. It’s now a state park, but people have reported sightings of something like a ghost dog.

    I've been to Slater Mill with my fam for a day tour and did not feel good at all.
    Like once I stepped foot into the main building, I felt a sudden drop in energy and mood. I can't describe it because I felt awful:(
    I felt almost sadly drained. But after I left, it eventually went away.

      I work there, one evening, I was working in the basement alone, heard my name being called, I look around and no one there. A couple of weeks ago, again I was working late, was sitting on an empty ward watching TV while on break, and literally saw a figure peak into the room I was in, and I know that it wasn't a coworker because I would have heard them walk onto the unit

    I have a story about the Ruffstone tavern...my friend Gerry Verdi was singing there one night....side note...great show ....great performer....a group of us ladies....all Belly Dancers that were friends with her...yes you could call us "groupies" were there....I was with my then boyfriend now husband....Baha...he was sitting at a booth that kinda circled around...he was at the center and would have to slide either side to get out...well all us girls were up showing off our dance skills when a drunk skunk started to man handle me...Baha flew literally flew over the table and over a pool table to get this creep off of me...there was a whole room full and everyone just stopped and there was total silence...Baha grabbed the man and walked him without incident the other side of the restaurant/bar....now that was crazy enough but what also was crazy was I swear at that point I watched someone walk up the stairs to the floor and disappear...the music went on and all us girls just looked at each other and never spoke of it again....this is a true story...

    I am from Rhode Island… Mercy Brown’s body was exhumed because her brother had tuberculosis and they thought if they burnt her heart and fed it to him that it would make him better that’s why they exhumed the families bodies not because they were coming back to life

      The Ghost Watch HIIII :D

  • @neilforbes416
    @neilforbes416 7 лет назад +2

    +Ghost Watch: Are you using a microphone sock? If not, then you should get one. Also, speak across the microphone or at an angle to it, not directly into it. Also, don't get too close, this way you'll avoid the "popping" sounds when uttering words beginning with B or P(Hmmmm.... BP - British Petroleum LOL). Apart from my corny humour, I have over ten years in community broadcasting behind me, so I know what I'm talking about. What's a microphone sock? It's a foam-rubber covering that goes over the business end of a microphone.

    • @MadFireTV
      @MadFireTV  7 лет назад

      Neil Forbes thanks for that. I have been wanting to get one, my current setup for these videos is kind of odd right now. I also don't have a really good mic yet, just can't afford one. In a few months though, my setup should be changed up for these videos.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 7 лет назад +1

      +Ghost Watch, don't worry about what type of microphone you're using. In fact, depending on your technique you can get away with using any old cassette(or even older open-reel) recorder's microphone. Microphone socks are "cheap as chips" and you can pick one up at any electronics shop or music shop(if they sell instruments too, then they'll even sell microphones, so they're sure to have mic socks... sock it to ya! LOL).

    As far as I'm aware you're information on everything else is correct. Also there is something called the 7 X's that you can look up I forget the name of the road but it's on ancient Native American burial ground and the lore the goes with it is enough to make someone like me think twice before going there. I went there and I encountered a ghostly truck coming at me at high speeds before turning off at last second and driving into the woods. I also encountered seeing many apparitions as I was trying to leave the area. The beginning of the road starts off as residential and then about a mile in starts this wooded area where the road is the same but there are trees almost creating a tunnel and the whole atmosphere changes. The road is open to the public due to there being a museum at the end of it. The X's have been painted over to deter people from frequenting the land and disturbing it though it is public land. Also the conjuring house is just a house. The family was haunted and the house that sits there now is heavily secured with razor wire outlining the property and additions have been made so it's only known as the same house due to the address. Most of the bike path is haunted as it follows the same path as the old rail road that used to go through the state. There's also the Nathanael Greene homestead in my hometown of Coventry as well as the Payne House museum which also resides in Coventry. Rocky Point is in Warwick and used to be an amusement park but was closed down in either the 80's or 90's and there's a path that the public is allowed to use but even just being there feels wrong for some reason. Also there are multiple mills throughout the state and I've been in all of the ones in Coventry and there might not be documentation or lore but I felt like I was being watched by inhuman forces in every single one and others have said the same. They're being turned into apartments now so there's not really much left to explore sadly.

    • @MadFireTV
      @MadFireTV  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching. I just thought these deserved to be in the top ten over it. This was surprisingly a very tough list, even though Rhode Island is so small; but it has a ton of history.

    • @SBK2552
      @SBK2552 8 лет назад

      i understand, since it is one of the first 13 colonies (states), i can imagine it has a lot of history, block island looks creepier than anything, out in the middle of nowhere

    • @MadFireTV
      @MadFireTV  8 лет назад +1

      +SBK2552 Yeah, Block Island is pretty secluded. I have always wanted to go there. Also, even though I do a video on a particular place doesn't mean it is very haunted. I want to try to make videos of many places that are considered haunted; even if there is just a quick short story behind it. The lesser known haunts, to me, are the most enjoyable to talk about. I appreciate your comments and for watching. I am going to make a couple more of those videos from the list of roads you provided.

    Your information on the Ladd School is very lacking. There were multiple buildings and it was opened in the 1890's as the Exeter School for Girls and later became The Ladd School as one of its final names. It was opened on and off and used for different things until the 1990's when it's last big use was as a rehab facility. The buildings were all demolished between 2014 and 2015 the last one having been knocked down about a year or so ago now. The land is now used for two things, a rehab center called the Phoenix House as well as Exeter Job Corps which is basically for young adults 16-24 who aren't doing well in the high school setting and they are offered ged/diploma as well as trad training at this institution. Mercy Brown was originally buried in a grave yard at the cross roads of Plain Meetinghouse, Plain, and Liberty Church roads. She was buried under a massive concrete block after her body was found frozen in a strange way inside of her coffin with scratches on the inner lid. Her heart was cut out and burned and the ashes were used to create a drink that her brother Edwin, the last surviving member of her immediate family, drank in hopes of stopping her visits to him which were just him hallucinating. He died months later of natural causes not related to his sister or TB. Sarah Tillinghast(100 years before Mercy Brown) was actually Rhode Island's first vampire. Mercy Brown's body was exhumed in I believe the 1970's and she was rightfully buried with her family in the family plot.
