He's an asshole, but I'm sorry. He still was getting a huge pop for his "Real American" character well beyond the 90s. After he turned heel, it was years before he came back as a face, and the night he did, the crowd went absolutely crazy.
Say what you will about him, he is absolutely deluged by faults. One thing nobody can honestly deny is his post 90s popularity amongst wrestling fans.
But I do agree that it is sad that he is playing this character in his 70s outside of a wrestling context.

I can’t even imagine how genuinely stupid people have to be trying to equate changing a name, or using a nickname with trying to change your gender, suggesting that there are more than 2 genders, or believing that gender is fluid.
