There are over 500 million people in the world that adhere to Buddhism. In this video, I will give 2 of many reasons why I'm not a buddhist. My critique may not be common knowledge, so I hope this video is enlightening (pun intended!).

Good job. Buddhism really has no evidence.
A few of many original sayings and teachings of Buddha himself - i.e. some of a man's feelings and thougts about the reality... And 500 million people in world has put their life into them... Crazy thing to do for emotional creatures like humans...
Thanks. These are exactly some of the reasons why I reject Buddhism as well. It derives from the thoughts of one man, is almost completely unhistorical, and is grounded primarily in human feeling. Buddhism is a truth-claim about reality that cannot substantiated with any hard evidence. While many of the rules and beliefs of this philosophy are admirable, and Buddhists tend to be peaceful people, these factors do not prove that Buddhism is true.

Totally agree. And yes, but as mention, its not only a blind faith position in Buddhas thoughts and feelings... We have very little original of what he said and thought (which I guess is kinda important). Yes, they do tend so. Hah, yeah cool Valentine's Day gift from my wife. I do try my best, unlike Islam, as you know, Christian husbands are called to a very high standard on that!
@Apologetics , a high standard indeed. Christian husbands must love their wives as Christ loves the Church - meaning, they must be willing to sacrifice their own lives for the sake of their wives. Compare that to Islam, where a man can beat his wife, marry 3 more women without the wife's consent, and divorce his wives upon a whim.
@@mysotiras21 - Indeed. Christian husbands who refuse to honor their wives will see their prayers hindered. (1 Peter 3:7) And, "The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife." (1 Corinthians 7:4). Stuff like this 2000 years ago was unheard of..! And STILL, there exists clowns out there today who think the Bible is anti-women.
@@DanielApologetics , people who claim that the Bible is anti-woman are usually just repeating hearsay. They either haven't read the Bible, or haven't read it with adult comprehension. Who is the greatest moral exemplar in the Old Testament? Ruth, a brave, faithful, humble Gentile woman. How valuable is a good wife? The Bible says that she is more precious than rubies (Proverbs 31:10). Etc etc.

Most people shy away from the suggestion that they alone are responsible for their troubles. It is more difficult for most people to face up to their inadequacies than it is for those who have the inner strength and self-confidence to look at themselves fairly and squarely.
Nothing happens by chance!
Everything is woven out of the inner threads of our personal consciousness-thoughts, expectations, beliefs in life, fate, "God."
We live in a world of our own making!
This is why children raised in the same environment turn out differently. Each one has their own individual mindset constructed according to inherent character traits.
Most people go through their entire life believing they are unfortunate. They think that other people have been mean, unkind, ugly to them and have made their life thoroughly unhappy.
They believe that "other people" quarrel with them and constantly make difficulties, while they are absolutely innocent of any provocation.
On the contrary, "other people" are not to blame. It is the personal mindset that is attracting to them their negative conditions.

Ahaha, yes! I was headbaning hard to that and Ride The Lightning as little kid. I am Norwegian, lived in Denmark, with roots in Sweden, 6'3 tall, blond, blue eyes - I am as viking and Scandinavian as they come xD Yes, well, some of the newer generation is depraved. But yeah, generally, many of us love headbanging to metal which, you are right, came out of Scandinavia.

We have to stop looking and judging one religion through the lens of another. The religious people are not stupid, everything generally makes sense through their own lenses.
Buddhism has interesting teachings as a philosophy but idk much more than that too confusing.

But this take on buddhism is a very superfical take one it.
It's a religon based on experience not faith in what buddha said .buddha said never take what i say as truth if it dont fit in to your experience.

Well, Buddha had teachings and sayings of what to do in order to be enlightened and enter Nirvana. Kind of important stuff, and according to one of the world's leading scholar on the Buddhist scriptures, they are at least 600+ years after his death - which brings their conclusion of not having any method of how discern what actually is from Buddha and what is not. And if original Buddhism is true, teachings and sayings of what to do in order to be enlightened and enter Nirvana by Buddha himself - would be important. Its not there. And therefore one of the reasons why I'm personally not a buddhist.

I have a wild theory about Buddhism. There are no images of Buddha from earlier than around 100AD. Before then is described as the Aniconic period where there’s no clear individual figure being suggested. I believe the Gospel made it to China and the Far East very early and that this Buddha character was modeled on Christ and retrofitted to the writings. The timing is just too convenient. Plus there is a tradition of one of Buddha’s students walking on water towards him and starting to sink when he loses focus. Sounds awfully familiar doesn’t it?
Buddhism is based on the practice of meditation and yoga. It's an atheist religion that believes mediation can give one spiritual enlightenment over a period of strick practice, they're is scientific evidence which supports the benefits of yoga and meditation on the body and mind, unfortunately christianity on the other hand has zero evidence for anything, like a fairytail it's only true if you believe hard enough
Also, your information seems to be outdated since the taliban destroyed the bamiyan Buddha's back in March of 2001. Some older buddhist scrolls have been discovered, which vary in age dating back to an even older time period: Gandhara scrolls, which appears to be between 183 and 663 years after the end of the Buddha's life, this is better than the supposed silent years of the bible of 400 years, only time will tell afghanistan has been neglected due to the hostile nature of the country many ruins are left to be explored and uncovered in the future, which might unearth an even earlier date in the buddhist literature.
Please be careful when critiquing Christianity when you don’t even know it.
You mentioned ‘400 years of silence’ but that had *nothing* to do with lacking manuscripts, it’s a Protestant belief about God not *inspiring* books to be written for 400 years. 2 different things. The entire OT had already been written by 400 BC.
We also have (plenty of) manuscripts of the NT 183 years after Jesus and his apostles. We have entire NT’s like Codex Sinaiticus, Vaticanus etc in the first 5 centuries. We especially have plenty of manuscripts 663 years after Jesus.
So in conclusion: No. That’s not better than the Bible.
@@Sahih_al-Bukhari_2658 Well, I must admit I'm wrong on stating the timeline of manuscripts in the Christian Canon,and I think it's obvious that i'm not a Christian, but my point on Buddhist literature still is true,the Gandharan scrolls had pushed the dates of known early buddhist scriptures into a later period which was previously known and debunks the point made in this video,They contain fragments of various Buddhist texts, including sutras, dharmapadas, avadanas, and abhidharma, as I mentioned in my previous comment research in Central asia is incredibly poor, many Buddhist sites and caves are left abandoned without any conclusive archeological research being done.
@Sahih_al-Bukhari_2658 I would also like to add that i don't hold animosity towards Christians or their beliefs. What I'm disappointed in is the blatant propaganda peddled towards my faith without any sort of research in its teachings. Buddhist Dharma is solely based on the teachings of Shakyamuni, which teaches the self-realization of oneself through meditation , yogic and tantra, it differs from hinduism with the rejection of the God figure or Brahman, and has almost nothing to do with hinduism, this is false Buddhism has more in common with jainism, due to the fact that Siddhartha gautama after leaving his palace joined the Jains in his efforts to achieving enlightenment, and subsequently finding his own path.
