It's proper good stuff!
RIGHT, It's good to be back folks, and i'm back with a punch with the astonishing machine that is, AV239. AV239 is a 2002 reg Volvo B7TL with a 5 speed ZF gearbox, she has the tenancy to slip just as the gearbox shifts into second, leaving us as passengers in an explosion of acceleration once the slipping has stopped, it's a very weird yet awesome feeling! She also has a very well tuned turbo that gives the engine it's powerful punch, perfect for hill climbs and getting up to speed, without the need for a kickdown, and that's what makes this bus so amazing, it accelerates at such a rapid rate yet she doesn't have a kickdown...
If you listen closely, you'll notice that AV239's differential whines quietly in the background, very nice sound indeed!
Hats off to the engineers at the Clontarf bus station for keeping AV239 in great working order!
More videos to come, including something absolutely amazing....it's a surprise... ;-)
Enjoy folks! Авто/Мото
My favourite buses of Dublin. I wouldn't mind preserving one of these :). Although mine will have reclining black leather seats as I intend using it as a coach.
Oh, wow! Those are some fast accelerations, but the revs were also nice too. Great video!
Lovely ZF there Tom
Love you’re Editing!!! Great Video Tom, This AV is tops
Great video! Love this AV!
Great vid! Have to get this again before it goes.
Yeah I filmed this journey with a very good friend of mine, I think you know him? ;-)
I might know him alright ;)
Wish our buses were even half as empty as yours!
Geoff For some reason it was quiet on that part of the route, most of the time the buses in Dublin are quite full!
For some reason I thought you were in the North of England?....have been to Dublin a few times, and yes, the buses were always pretty full...You live in a beautiful part of the World :-
)
Geoff I live back in Plymouth in Devon again now, I used to live in Dublin up until the end of August just gone after moving away from Plymouth, unfortunately it didn't work out so now i'm back where I belong, Plymouth :-D
I'm actually thinking about moving/retiring to Devon in the near future, you're once again very lucky to loive in such an amazing place
:-)
Geoff Hahaha thank you very much, it is beautiful down here indeed
Pure epicness lad, what exactly does mechanical drive mean?
It means the torque conveter is locked through the rest of the gears, in this case being a 5 speed ZF, 3rd, 4th and 5th. My next video that's coming out has an ALL NEW live gearbox and torque converter status which will be much easier to understand, plus its more discrete and visual instead of having loads of text covering up the video, all that so you can focus on the video more instead of having to read a bunch of text that changes every few seconds.
Are AV 244 259 & 279 Still In Service
....jeeez - he was really givin' it some wellie dere, eh?? :/
Nothing wrong with that! The gearbox was simply slipping a bit when it engaged 2nd, the bus and engine was absolutely fine :-)
@@ThePlymouthRoadSurfer No no, nothing wrong at all. Was just commenting. :) I do like dose AVs/AXs.
Niall H Yeah they’re fine vehicles aren’t they :-) I heard from a good friend of mine that the last 4 AV’s got withdrawn today, sad times :-(
